well as per usual things never go to plan for us (see my post in the weather thread) and we are now at Domaine de Massereau near Sommieres. Had a bit of an eventful day yesterday. After a lovely drive from Carcasonne to Beziers following the Canal du Midi we headed for Les Sablons at Portragnies Plage as they accept the acsi card and the site was perfect with us having the motorhome as loads of facilities close at hand. We couldnt believe how busy the site was. Site great but on closer inspection most of the pitches were very tight for our 7m motorhome but following the directions from reception we chose an empty pitch and went back to tell them where we'd chosen. (We'd be told to go on any vancant pitch) only to be told that was "taken", chose another 2 and they said they were also taken. They then tries to put us a cramped pitch next to the loos so we had to call it a day and try somewhere else. headed the few miles to Neptune at Agde but it was packed, we were offered a small cramped pitch right at the back of the site behind a mobile we just couldnt get the MH on! Neptune looks lovely and most of the pitches are a good size and the pool was larger than I expected and looked so inviting so if Bev and Jon are reading this I'm sure you'll be fine at Neptune.
Then we headed for Marseillan Plage but thought it was tacky and not for us so made the decision to head here as we've stayed before and knew we loved it. Got a great pitch (next to the one we had last time!) so all fine now. The site remembered us (is that a good thing??) and we're getting a free bottle of wine with our meal tonight as its OHs birthday.
I'm sure Bigtoe said he was here this week but dont know what pitch hes on or what he looks like lol so if he reads this we're on 307 on the corner with the Burstner MH. We're off winetasting at 4pm as the family that own the site produce wine opposite the site entrance. The site is even better than last time we stayed in 2007. Its now got a 2nd pool which is heated, mini golf and site wifi. Anyway mustnt spend any more of my holiday on here.

Hi Rhonda
Saw your post on the weather thread before this one, all is clear re Neptune now. Can't believe it was so packed, has everybody headed down south because the weather is worse further north or something?
We may be going to Neptune in September, initially we thought of going south June/July, but have decided we're going to Holland first then to Burgundy or thereabouts for the last 3 weeks. But then, we may end up somewhere totally different.......
the sun is finally shining on Soleil Plage! You might think everyone has headed for the med as it's been the only place with decent weather for the past few days but SP is a lot busier than it was this time last year. The owner said taking camping cheques has made a big difference to how busy they are.

hi jaymac, sorry we didnt get to have that drink together. We are basking in 26 degrees here today, forecast up to 30 at the weekend. We're moved our crossing back by 2 days (hurrah) here til Sunday now and doing the drive back over 3 days with two as yet undecided stops. Maybe stop at Les Peupliers nr Millau then somewhere north of Clermont Ferrand.
Ina, we couldnt believe how busy Neptune was when we arrived on Monday afternoon. I have been really surprised at just how busy some sites have been at this time of year. I am really enjoying our time away in the motorhome and have decided despite the lack of a car the other numerous advantages far outweigh the no car disadvantage.
Anyone know where ValA is? Wonder if shes at Les Peupliers.

Hi Rhonda,
I'm still really surprised that Neptune was packed, wonder if it's anything to do with it being Whitsun the weekend before last and kids still being off school. Haven't spoken to our friends yet, but they are planning to stay in Spain until next Monday, will tell them to ring first if they do decide on Neptune.
No idea where ValA is, don't think she's got a laptop, or accesses the internet on holiday. No doubt we'll hear all about it when she gets back, but I don't know when that is either!
We're booked on the tunnel next Wednesday, can't wait. Keep some of the nice weather for us, please?
Enjoy the rest of your holiday, so you've got an extra 2 days now, great!
I would be really interested for info regarding Domaine de Massereau as we going there for 3 weeks from the 4th July this year with our large vango tent. Have been promised a large pitch and have heard good reports and we are hopefully of a good time. We were at ma praire 3 years ago near canet plage and the wind never stopped and drvove us off the beaches several times
Great info, but I have just done a note to myself, "do not take laptop"!, for when we go on Monday lol, one piece of kit I will definaley be glad to see the back of for 3 weeks.
Looks great and looking forward to the break. Driving from Belfast to get there. Any thoughts on stopovers? Our route will be Calais REims Troyes Dijon lyons etc.
Where you stay will depend on what time you leave Calais. We catch an early train through the tunnel, so 7 and a half hours, including breaks, to Beaune is manageable. You will have to allow more or less time depending on you driving speeds and rest times.
If you calculate your times using google maps or via Michelin you will be able to see what towns you'll be near. Then a quick search or another posting will get further camp site recommendations for that area.
