Hi there, does anyone know of any good caravan sites in France and Europe, close to the Ski Slopes and Obviously open all year?
The last 2 years, my husband and I (and the Dog) have explored a few sites in the Alps, both close to the slopes, and with in a driveable distance. This year we're hoping to find some new places to try.
We're fairly competent skiers, so the bigger the resort the better for us!!
Last year we discovered a site in Montchavin which is walkable to the lifts in the La Plagne (France) resort - it was a lovely site, and if we dont find anywhere else to go, we'll head back there.
Any info anyone has on sites in Europe (we'd love to try Germany, Italy too), we'd gladly receive.

We went to Camping Jungfrau one Easter and almost everyone else on the site was skiing all day. Top pic in my profile. Skiiers walked to the train station from the site.
A campsite that is in close walking distance or possibly ski in ski out, we don't really mind where, but the bigger the resort the better. We will be in a caravan, so the 'aires' are kinda ruled out. Any info you have, we'd be grateful for. Many Thanks.

Bourg St Maurice http://www.leversoyen.com/gb1.htm, longish walk through the trees to Funicular up to Les Arcs, or take navette, or quick drive. Easy drive to several other resorts.
Those are the 3 that I can think of quickly which give access to large resorts. Non are ski in ski out. All are an easy flatish run with the caravan.
The following sites are higher, so have a more mountainous climb.
Site at Les Clusaz which is supposed to be 'ski from' but we did not stay there.(It was full) Pool looked nice but the pitches looked very cramped http://www.plandufernuy.com/gb.html
At Les Contamines http://www.campinglepontet.fr/fr/camping-le-pontet-les-contamines-montjoie.htm The site is a very short walk to the telecabine Pontet, you can ski down on the red in good conditions.
Site at Pralognan La Vanoise, on a good day you could ski back, but rather a lot of poling, free navette to slopes but obviously not a big resort. Its not too bad to drive to other larger resorts if you choose.
I am still confused about a site at Les Saisies, there may be two, the one we looked at was a bit grotty (a fair few years back now though so it may have changed)but literally at the side of the piste. You`d need to do some more internet homework if the resort attracted you at all.

thx for the info - we stayed at Venosc last year, it was a lovely site, but there was nothing going on in the evenings in the village itself, and the cable car to Les Arcs stops at 7pm which was quite limiting. They did let us take the dog on the cable car tho!
We stayed at Mont Chavin last year, which is on the lower end of the La Plagne Ski area - about a 10 minute walk to the lift (uphill). We've also stayed in Vallandry which is Near bourg st maurice - that was a lovely site too, but we'd prefer to be as close to the slopes and the action as possible.
My husband has been looking at the site in Les Saises - we might give that one a try.
We have no problem with driving up to resort,our car is 4wd, we go equipped with chains/ socks (both for car and van) and my husband is a competent and safe driver.

I suppose Pralo was the easiest for evening access to restaurants etc, an easy walk to and fro the village in snow boots, and Grand Bornand http://www.campinglescale.com/en/ as well as a restaurant on the site had a number of nice restaurants and bars easy to drive to in the town. Samoens also requires a drive into the town, but it has lots going on in the evenings.
We are not caravanning this year and have treated ourselves to an apartment in La Rosiere. No doubt my husband will want to nose around the caravan site there. If you find out more about the site at Les Saises I would be interested to hear about it.
