We have returned to caravaning after a long time. We have been all over the UK (with kids in tow) but as there is just me and the Mr now we are planning on heading to the South of France. We have had holidays there before but only in villas. Any recommendations for nice sites for the van? We love quiter sites if possible (but not abslutely necessary) and idealy like views, river, mountains. A pool would be the icing on the cake. Any help gratefully accepted thanks xxxxx

When are you going? The Ardeche is very different from low season to high season, and whilst I could recommend some sites for low season, they become very different during mid-July to mid-August.
Should you decide on the Pyrenees I will second the site Val A proposed Pyrenees Natura at Estaing. I do think it's a long way for 2 weeks if you are towing however and the Ardeche is probably easier providing you use the autoroutes depending of course on which channel crossing you are thinking of using. The shorter routes of Calais or Dunkerque would make the Ardeche probably a better option but the longer routes to Caen, St Malo etc would allow you to make the Pyrenees on the western side.
We have been to both areas and loved them both but have to say that we were very lucky in June 2013 when we went to Pyrenees Natura to catch it with snow still on the mountain tops. Couple of photos added from then.

If you did the Ardeche, do you want the 'popular' bit around Vallon Pont d'Arc, or the wilder bits up into the mountains to the north and west?
Also, absolutely ideally, what sort of site would you like. There is everything in the Ardeche from five star all-singing, to a farm site with upmarket pool, to a one star municipal. Each one has its own charm, and will appeal to some more than others.
We are quite flexible about the site but the ideal would be the farm site with upmarket pool :-) when we have used villa holidays we always booked out of the way quiter places with a pool. Icing on the cake would be views from the site x
You won't get the spectacular views that you get in the Pyrenees, in the Ardeche, because it's a different area. The views are all 'down' into the Gorges of the Ardeche, or the more rolling mountains.
There's another nice one, but I can't find the website at the moment. I'll come back when I find it again - a farm site, with a farm shop selling their own produce.
Here's another - not the one I was looking for, but a farm site, with nice pool, and selling it's own 'Bio produce'.
Friends have stayed at the second recently, and the first was a campsite we stayed on some years ago, then it moved over to gites and mobiles, and is now a campsite again.
