We had a year off France this year and didn't reserve our usual 10-12 nights at Hourtin - fortuitous as it turned out for obvious reasons!!!
Furloughed for three months from April to July and only did a short break in the UK last month so I have loads of holiday left. For the first time ever I'm allowed to carry over up to 10 days leave into 2021 because of Covid which means we're thinking of doing an extended holiday next year and introducing the kids to the mountains. So, up to a week in the Alps and then head West to our favourite site on the Atlantic coast for another couple of weeks - I cannot wait already!!!
I'm after any recommendations for decent family campsites in the heart of the Alps, but also any ideas about cost. It costs us probably £70-£80 a night at Hourtin for a big pitch with electric.
I'm wondering about a mobile home for the first week in the Alps but don't know how much they are - they don't seem to be quoting prices at the moment on a quick search.
Might be easier than pitching the tent and all the guff for just a week, so we can leave it all in the trailer whilst in the Alps.
So - decent campsites and rough cost per night for mobile homes is what I'm looking for please!!!
Cheers
Lloyd

Same here Lloyd, we gave France a miss this year, I am still on furlough, but was made to sacrifice 4 weeks of annual leave, can’t complain about that as I have been getting 100% pay for the last seven months, last time I was in work was February, got to keep the company car, so that’s been a bonus.
I have got one weeks worth of annual leave left for this year, not sure if I will be able to carry that over to next year, to be honest I don’t care.
For all I know the job I have had for the last 15 years, may have to come to an end, the company is not providing us with much info, worst case scenario is that the small team of seven that I work with get potted, what will be, will be.
Fact is at 60 I am just about done with work, so it could be time to have a roll of the dice.

It depends on what sort of a campsite you are looking for, e.g an all singing and dancing one or a simpler one.
Our favourite is Nature & Lodge Campsite at Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains. It's not an all singing and dancing site and there is no pool but is one of the most beautiful we have ever been to and there are abundant sports and recreation facilities in the town which is very close.
The pitches are spacious and the facilities second to none. They also have a Chalet and a Lodge on site that they rent out.
The site gets consistently good reviews including on UK Campsite

That site looks great, thanks for highlighting it - - I have added it my `to visit` list.
Have you considered morzine/Les get? Apartments and chalets are just as affordable in the summer. If you book with affiliated accommodation the Portes du soleil multipass only costs 2euro a day. We found it excellent value and gave our family access to the ski lifts, swimming complex in morzine, other swim lakes, crazy golf, ice rink etc. Really had a fabulous holiday.

We are hoping to have a long holiday next year as we cancelled our France trips too.
Probably do 6 weeks or so. Planning to stay in Netherlands and visit the part of Germany where I was stationed in cold war times. The bases were right by Germany/ Netherlands border . Probably then into France.
We also postponed a Portugal river cruise so hope to rebook for September.
We have 125% credit plus extras on offer so will sort it.
Luckily we have had a few weeks in our van in UK this summer and got to see family then.
We live in hope!
Hope it works out for you Francais. I retired at 63, wife 60 in 2014 best thing w ever did.
We had planned it doing finance planning etc.

Thank’s DaveS, funnily enough we got the phone call, well WhatsApp message on Friday to say that me and my team are to return to work full time again from the start of November.
So it looks like I will be eaking it out for the next 5 years until I reach state retirement age, which is 66 for me.
Well it’s been a nice 8 month break from work, despite not having any actual holiday this year.
So I have now booked the campsite in Frejus, for the last two weeks in June next year, will be using ACSI as usual so just 14€ per night including electric, unless prices go up.
Just need to find out now if the firm will let me take the company car over to France, and if they will allow me to fit a tow bar, so I am not quite out of the woods just yet.
In fact I don’t even know what the company car will be, as currently they have provided me with a Avis hire car, Diesel 1.6lt Citroen C5 Aircross, which is certainly above my pay scale.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
