We will be working our way back from Beynac at the end of next week. We are looking for a one night stop around Orleans and then another around Arras. Any recommendations including municipals. Thanks

There’s a 32 pitch municipal just off the motorway called Camping Municipal Gaston Marchand. Only a 1 star, but has electric hook ups and modern looking toilet/shower facilities and is open till 29th August. Looks decent for an overnighter, and they take reservations too. We used Camping Olivet last year - nice site in a not particularly inspiring location, good for a stopover. Site staff are lovely, and there was a van doing delicious pizzas when we were there, or they serve charcuterie boards ( nice beer too !) worth booking - since the municipal in Orleans closed they get very busy and we’re turning people away at the end of August 2021.
Camping La Grand Sologne, at Nouan Les Fuzelier. On the N154 just south of Rouen. Nice lakeside site, grassy pitches, restaurants etc a short walk away.
Thanks everyone. I’ve booked L’Olivet and one in Arras, whose name escapes me!

It shows the increase in popularity of travelling across France when sites for an overnight stop are fully booked. We have been caravanning in France for over 20 years and have never booked a site for overnight and never thought we would have to. On the whole, we travel until we have had enough or whatever and then look for a site nearby. We don't know in advance where we will be at the end of the day. Are we going to have to change our ways?

No, don't think so. Olivet is very popular, on the axis between two major routes from the UK, and Holland and July is extremely busy. As Mountain runner said he found a site the same day just a few km south without a problem..

We always use Nouan as the pitches are much larger, you can stay hitch up if required and is cheaper.
It is actually just south of Orleans not Rouen, about 25 miles on a dead straight empty road,
There's a good municipal at Beaugency (lovely old town/village on the Loire), and also, at Meung (brilliant chateaux to visit ...very different) ... both close to Orleans.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
