We are taking our folding caravan for the first time this year.  Not wanting to go too far so decided on Brittany going to Roscoff.

Has anyone been to the following campsites Du Letty- Benodet and Les Abers- Landeda, the last site being only 34miles from Roscoff and 21miles from Brest.  We have never been to either of these areas.  Looking to split the holiday into 2- 5 nights at each.  Don'tt want a lot of driving, so this seems a good combination.  We prefer a quite site for the 1st half, this is why choose LeAbers - Landeda which is in the camping cheque and Allan Rogers guide.  Du Letty which seems to have a little more going on but is a much larger site.  I am worried that it may be too big  a site,as it states may only be 6mts between each pitch 460 pitches, where most sites 10mts.  Should this be a concern.  Chose this because right next to beach and no swimming pool on site so thought site may be pretty quite.  Dose anyone have any better suggestions. No children with us so prefer it to be not noisy

I have stayed at the camp site at Huelgoat which is a beautiful village between Roscoff and Benodet. The campsite is fine and is next to a lake. I have also stayed at camping du poulquer in Benodet which I have always enjoyed but it does have a pool with waterslide - the best thing about it is you seem to get big emplacements and it is handy for the beach and for walking in to Benodet.

Hi Iranman

My family's favourite campsite in all the world has to be Du Letty in Benodet.  Whilst it is a large site it split upon by high hedges into bays of about 10 pitches which make it seem much smaller. It has super facicilites for all ages and is very suitable if you don't have kids.  The pitches are quite adequate.  We have fitted our Avondale Landrange (Length7.36 metres/24 feet) onto one of their pitches.  It is always quiet and patrolled by "fierce" noise-hating security men at night.  My son and I were once told for talking whilst playing draughts in the awning late one night - we were only talking!!  The facilities are first class with 2 bars, a gym, a library, take-away and mini-market but all well away from the pitches.  Its situation on the little river estuary which provides both beach and an safe bathing/boating is idyllic

It is an easy drive, of less than 2 hours from Roscoff and there is a very scenic cross country route.

For more detailed praises see my eulogy on this website at:

My kids, now grown-up, never wanted to go anywhere else.  Even now the youngest (17 and 19) say that they will come with us if we go to Du Letty.  Every summer we are torn between returning or trying somewhere new!!??

Du Letty have their own website too,  in English.  It can be found by searching campsites on this website.

If you do go it is cheaper to pay direct to the site than booking through the Caravan or Camping and Caravan Clubs.  The site say that they always have room and we have have not usually booked.  One just picks from the available pitches on arrival.  On year we got near to the beach and then mangaged to move to stupendous spot actually overlooking the beach.

If I can be of any further help just ask.  I'm not on commission by the way just a real Brittany, Benodet and Du Letty - LOVER.

Regards

Tim
