Hi I am sailing to Roscoff in mid may and looking for a campsite up to 5 hours drive and somewhere on the coast, we love the sea so any site nearest to the sea would be best.

l'atlantique (or similar spelling) in beg meil is excellent about 1.5hours from Roscoff. Beach is a short walk (5 min) through a nature reserve, lack of car access means it does not get to crowded. Pool is fantastic. Nice shade as you walk back from the beach.
Try Jard Sur Mer, we have stayed at La pomme du Pin which has access to the beach through the back gate, and is a short stroll into the town and down to the harbour, campsite is fairly small and at that time of year will be quiet. We have also stayed at L'atlantique which is a great site but if you are looking for better weather I would certainly opt for the Vendee as Brittany has a very similar climate to Cornwall.

Hi we stayed at a site in Vannes which is maybe two and a half hours from Roscoff, What a lovely place Vannes is,Camping municipal de conleau tel 0297631388 it was very close to the centre as we are motor homers and need to be where shops and restaurants are, it had a huge lake 2 mins away on foot, which was full of swimmers, plenty of activity very local, the thing we remember most was the lovely drive from getting off the boat, going through very pretty villages lovely memories.
We staued at at castels site called grand metaire in carnac near the famous standing stones 2 yrs ago. we stayed in a mobile home - thats how we got interested in camping. It was lovely. 10 mins from Carnac which is a lovely town and the beaches in the area where fantastic- many secluded despite it being august. About 2 hrs from Roscoff. Going back this yr bur had to go to a differnt site as they are fully booked for the wk we wanted. Highly recommend the site and the area.

------------- Had a 2 year break from camping but ff to france this summer hopefully
Beg Meil is a great location. Last August when all the beaches south of Beg Meil were packed out there was still easy parking and loads of space on the beach. Surprising because its a brilliant beach and a real sun trap almost a tropical micro-climate. Plus which it's not as expensive as Benodet just to the north.

We are off to a great site called Camping De La Plage in La Trinite sur Mer, southern Brittany in May. It has direct beach access (30 seconds from some pitches). We had a look round while visiting the area last year. It looks fantastic and area has lots to see and do. Approx 2.5 hrs from Roscoff

The site which we always recommend in Brittany is Camping Du Letty in Benodet. It is within 2 hours drive of Roscoff, through very pleasant countryside and on quiet scenic roads.
We initially stayed as tenters and more recently as caravanners. We are tempted to go back EVERY summer as it is our favourite site in France. Our, now grown, kids would still go with us if we agree to go there!!
It's right on the beach and if you are very fortunate you can get a pitch overlooking the river estuary. It is a mecca for swimming and free mooring for boats from the cheapest inflatables to large motorboats.
I think you'll find that du Letty only opens in main season, if you fancy Benodet Pointe St Gilles is ok, insofar as it's practically on the beach and very handy for town, but it is a big and popular site

But it´s all right now, I learned my lesson well.

Yes sorry Twook is right Du Letty doesn't open to 15 June. I would NOT agree that Point St Gilles in Benodet is a good alternative, however. PStG is crowded and commercialised and the beach is not very good either.
Some of the mentioned Beg Mell sites are a possibility. However Twooks warning is good for many site in Brittany. Wherever you choose it is important to check that they are actually open as many don't open until June and like Du Letty close after the first week in September.
It may we be possible not to book but just to turn up. That is how we found Du Letty the first year we went to Brittany, and in fact first time abroad. We just went armed with the Alan Rogers "France" guide. Caravan Club's Caravan Europe Guide (NB Volume 1 for France) is another excellent "warts and all guide". Both can be bought at a good price on Amazon.com.
Happy hols - we always did have those in Brittany.
