Getting quotes for our new van and there is considerable range out there on a like for like basis;
Caravanguard
Saga
ShieldInsurance
Safeguard (Swinton)
and now Simple caravan insurance who are coming out the cheapest.
Has anyone had any dealings with the latter and can confirm if they are any good or can recommend another. I haven't tried towgate, mhis, eandl or cover4caravans yet.
I would tend to avoid 'E&L' caravan insurance even though they are cheap as from previous posts on this forum a few have had problems regarding an insurance claim. I am with 'Caravan Guard' myself and have been for the last two years because not only are their quotes competitive but you get to speak to a proper person on the other end instead of this automated press button malarky which many companies seem to operate these days. You also get a further discount if you mention that you are a member of UK Campsite too.
I agree with Tango55 we too like the personal touch with Caravan Guard and have been with them for years. They make an effort to save us money every year and give lots of discounts - phone them and have a chat.
I have just done mine and this year I have had an excellent service from the camping and caravan club club care insurance, they were cheapest of the lot even cheaper than simple caravan insurance and you speak to a nice human with a brain, even when the delivery of our new van got delayed and I had to insure the old one, they didn't charge to change the policy and it only cost us £8.50 for three weeks comprehensive insurance on our old van, I can't fault them or praise them enough for their excellent service and providing they remain half way competitive they will have my custom for some time to come.
------------- Easter - Burford
May - WoodFarm Dorset
June - IOW
Aug - can't decided
October - Yorkshire
Plus many more weekends at every possible chance!
We always used caravanguard. They were competative and a good reputation but like all insurance, when you need it the price you paid becomes the least important factor.
NFU for us this year ,quotes were coming in at ridiculous prices even from our previous insurer ,who we have been with for several years .....Spoke to a very nice young lady at Telford branch who gave us exactly the same cover for nearly £100 cheaper
Grrrrrr Caravanguard, filled out online quote and put down my spare mobile number, but did not take out a policy. I have now had umpteen missed calls from them, wish I had never bothered.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I have been with caravan Guard for last two years came in cheapest quote on year one and service is s good I did not even look for a better deal. I agree that talking to some one on the phone is far more important than saving a few pounds to me.
