toilet chemicals
what else are essential items in the van?
Hi there Browny, welcome to the board. Here's a few things you might need.
Tin Opener.
Kettle.
Tea, Coffee, Sugar.
Wine!!
Saucepans.
Washing up liquid and j cloths etc.
Steri tabs for your grey waste.
I'm sure there will be plenty of people come along with ideas, have a great first trip.
Scissors,
can opener/bottle opener
corkscrew for wine
Veg/meat knives etc.
Spare bulbs,(exterior/interior)
small sewing kit
Tick remover if you have a dog
Usual toiletries
Lighter for the BBQ
Few pegs if you hang the towels out
Kettle/pans etc
Small Spirit Level
Compass ( to help find where the sun will be when parking up)
Spare torch batteries
Some string
Smoke Alarm
Carbon Monoxide Detector
Please don't go anywhere without both of these.
Bowl/bucket
Washing up liquid
I'm sure I've missed a lot out but others will be along soon.
Welcome to the world of caravanning, I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves.
thanks all, the van came with a bottle of butane. is there any preference to which gas to use? or shall i just replace it wen it runs out. had a 30 ltr aquaroll with it, shall i steralise it with milton before use?
Butane's fine at this time of year, but when the temperature drops to near zero (which of course is a possibility in October) the liquid will not change to gas, so propane is usually advised for winter use as it's usable at much lower temperatures.
So when your butane cylinder is empty you could exchange it for a propane one. This would involve obtaining a different regulator to fit the particular cylinder, or, in the case of a fairly recently built 'van, a compatible high-pressure hose, or "pigtail", to connect the cylinder to the bulkhead regulator fitted in the gas locker.
Wouldn't do any harm to sterilise the Aquaroll (Don't forget to drain the entire plumbing system before laying-up for winter).
