Fineshade Wood Campsite is set on the edge of a deep, dappled wood in Northamptonshire.
A quiet, back-to-nature escape with 82 pitches, within one of England`s most historically rich landscapes.
This woodland - with its mix of ancient trees - was once part of Rockingham Forest. A royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror, who claimed it as his own after the Norman Conquest of 1066. For centuries, kings and nobles rode through these trees. Today, the woodland welcomes everyone.
Tucked between Stamford and Corby on the A43, Fineshade Wood is considered a hidden gem by those who know it - and the reason we love sharing it with those who don`t.
In April 2026, Fineshade Wood Campsite proudly reopened as a fully operated campsite under the Forestry England banner, in partnership with Camping New Forest Ltd.
Our friendly onsite wardens are here every day, keeping the site clean, tidy and well maintained, allocating pitches, looking after the facilities, and making sure every visitor feels genuinely welcome from the moment they arrive.
Dogs are very welcome at Fineshade Wood Campsite - in fact, up to three dogs per group can stay completely free of charge. After all, what`s a forest without a dog to explore with?
Fineshade Wood is brilliant for dog walking, with a network of waymarked trails winding through ancient broadleaf woodland, open rides and quiet forest tracks, you`ll have plenty of routes to choose from. Whether you want a morning stroll or a longer ramble, there`s something to suit every dog, and every owner.
The Fineshade woodland offers a sensory feast; rich in birdsong, dappled light, the crunch and squelch of the woodland floor and a variety of scents for the dogs to uncover. Red kites circle overhead, butterflies drift along the forest rides, and the trees are full of life throughout the seasons.
We ask that dogs are kept on leads throughout the campsite and on certain trails, to protect the wildlife and keep things peaceful for all our visitors. Just ask our onsite wardens for full details on our dog-friendly trails and site rules when you arrive.
Fineshade Wood Campsite is operated by Camping New Forest Ltd, a team of outdoor and nature enthusiasts dedicated to delivering authentic, thoughtful camping experiences rooted in education, conservation and community.
