Whilst the pretty village of Longnor, with its cobbled square with pub, fish and chip shop and shop, is less than 2 miles away there are a greater choice of amenities in Buxton and Bakewell, a 20-minute drive, as well as an excellent choice of real ale pubs serving great food within a 15-minute drive. Cycle or hike the off-road tracks such as the Tissington Trail, Manifold Trail or Monsal Trail, explore the Derbyshire dales and Peak caverns. Stately homes like the Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are also close by. Then return to the luxury, peace and tranquillity of Longnor. Longnor Wood can be reached within 2 hours from the major cities of Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham and is therefore perfect for short breaks in the Peak District. Of course there is Buxton itself with its fabulous park and spring swimming baths. There are markets in Buxton on Saturdays and Tuesdays, Bakewell on Mondays and Ashbourne on Thursdays and Saturdays.
From South West: Head for Leek and take the A53 towards Buxton. Approximately 2½ miles after Blackshaw Moor, just past Ramshaw Rocks` and the Roaches`, take the right hand turn immediately after the Winking Man` pub, signposted Longnor 4½ miles`. Approximately 3½ miles after turning, take the right turn at brown caravan park sign 850 yards`. Immediately turn right again and follow to the park.
