We are a small, family-run, quiet site with 50 pitches for caravans, campervans and tents: 30 with electricity and 20 without.
We have solar panels and all our electricity is from a renewable source. The site is grassy, well drained, flat and spacious.
We are situated at the edge of a small village in a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty with direct access to forest, river and heathland trails.
The coast is very close with Shingle Street beach about 3 miles away and Bawdsey (sandy beach where the River Deben meets the sea) 4 miles away.
There are 3 small toilet/shower blocks. The older green toilet block has two toilets and a shower each for men and for women. The new toilet blocks are unisex with 6 toilets, 3 showers, and a disabled-access toilet.
There is an abundance of wildlife around the site including owls, woodpeckers, nightingales, deer and badgers. We also run a small farm with very free-range chickens as well as rare breed goats, pigs & alpacas. Arya takes people animal feeding on Saturdays (and some weekdays in school holidays) at 5.30pm. See our website for more details.
The Blue Rabbit Cafe is currently running a pop-up pizzeria on Friday evenings at Shottisham Campsite, selling delicious handmade, wood-fired pizzas with meat and vegetables from the smallholding. We also sell our own sausages, bacon, eggs, homemade jams, firewood and hire out firepits and picnic tables - see website for times.
We are family friendly and allow dogs if they are kept on a secure lead while on the site.
A two-minute walk away in the village there is a community-owned 14th century, thatched pub, the Sorrel Horse. It does great beer and good pub food with quiz and live music nights. There is also a children`s playground in the village which can be accessed directly from the campsite.
