Uniquely set in one of the most beautifully remote Highland locations, this simple, well-maintained campsite, bothy and cottage is much-loved and oft revisited for many years in a row by campers. It is right across the loch from An Teallach - Scotlands finest ridge walk, part of Scotland's "Last Great Wilderness".
A small friendly and quiet lochshore site for a maximum of 12 vehicle pitches. The site slopes gently so some campers like to take small levelling ramps. The site accepts tents and campervans, but all vehicles must be under 6 metres. Fires are allowed on any of the pitches which have a fire circle. All facilities are kept clean and of high quality using local materials. The facilities - toilets, showers and a wahsing up area - are shared with the bothy which is used as a social/eating area and games room when not booked on a sole use basis, allowing a welcome retreat from the sun or rain. Parking is next to your pitch which is surrounded by meadow, orchids and often visited by deer.
There are also some nice "wild camping" pitches in amongst the gorse thicket for some more secluded camping. You can even camp down by the shore, especially if you would like to be up later at night. this area, though part of the croft, is not maintained though so it is your responsibility to keep fires under control and leave the area as you found it. There is no vehicular access to the shore (a few hundred metres from the main site).
Please note although we now have electricity in the buildings and plenty of hot water we have no hard standings or a septic tank emptying point - as we believe this would spoil the atmosphere on the site, but we have hook-ups if required. Advance booking is recommended in the summer months.
Here we have a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets, you can camp in with the vans on the main site, pick a wilder pitch hidden amongst the gorse, rent our cottage with crisp linen sheets and wood stoves, enjoy a dram by the fire in the bothy with the other guests - or even by yourself when it's quiet!
We have been listed in the Guardian as one of the best Hideaway places in the world and feature in the Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Cool camping and many overseas publications.
Beinn Ghoblach, Little Loch Broom, Scoraig peninsular footpath all accessible from the site where you can walk, hike, trek, bike, boat, kayak...or just relax and enjoy the wildlife - whether it be deer, otters, porpoises, golden eagles, white tailed sea eagles, seals, pine martins...the list goes on! There are many wonderful wildflowers and edible plants amongst the spectacular scenery to scout out and enjoy too!
Located in the Scottish Highlands off the A835 Inverness-Ullapool road on the vast and beautiful Dundonnell Estate, the site sits at the roads end off the A832 one mile east of the Dundonnell Hotel. The single track road meanders 7 delightful miles west to Badrallach, over an 18th century hump back bridge, past the mansion house, through a romantic little strath over a pass and eventually to the lochshore below.
