Description
Pitches: 22
We are a quiet family-friendly site, within walking distance of the beach and all village amenities.
Our campsite lies in the beautiful village of Laxey, located in a quiet residential area approximately 20 minutes drive from the towns of Douglas and Ramsey.
We are convenient for the local shops, launderette, Post Office, local eateries and several public houses.
There are five hardstanding pitches available for motorhomes and campervans and 17 grass pitches for campervans and tents.
Every pitch comes with an electric hook up and optional water hook up.
Free facilities include wi-fi, toilets, showers and a campers` kitchen with seating, oven, microwaves, kettles, toasters, fridges and freezer - we even provide pots, pans, cups, plates and cutlery. There is a seating area inside the kitchen as well as an outside covered bench seating area.
We are open from April to the end of October
The Great Laxey Wheel is located just a 25 minute walk or five minute drive away
The Mona Lisa is located just a 5 minute walk away, offering homecooked traditional Italian food.
Laxey is serviced by both bus and the electric railway.
There is a Co-op a twenty minute walk or a three minute drive, perfect for picking up the essentials.
Nearby Attractions
There are plenty of walks from the campsite, to the beach, around the headland, to the main village, the Laxey Glen and to the famous Laxey Wheel.
The Manx Electric Railway operates a year-round service along the coast through the whole of Garff from its terminus at Derby Castle, in Douglas to Ramsey. Stop off in Laxey for a detour, also by tram, to the top of Snaefell.
The Great Laxey Wheel or Lady Isabella (as she is also known) is the largest working waterwheel in the world. A brilliant example of Victorian engineering she was built in 1854 to pump water from the Laxey mines. Today a climb to the top is rewarded with panoramic views across the Laxey Valley. The wheel is a fascinating day out for visitors and is open from spring to Autumn.
There is a play area nearby and within a few minutes down a wooden walkway or via the path by the waterfall there is a tennis court, BMX area and general recreation facilities.
