Description
Pitches: 15
Opening Dates this year: 01/01/2022 to 31/12/2022
A warm welcome awaits at our campsite in the mountain wilds of the Welsh Marches in Herefordshire. Campers seeking peace and tranquility at this hideaway in the little village of Craswall, close to the book town of Hay-on-Wye, can choose from 15 pitches in 15 acres of wildflower fields bordered by ancient woodland. Light a fire and relax with a local beer, cider, gin or fruit juice from our farm shop and takeaway. Here you can buy our own delicious Wiltshire Horn/Welsh Mountain lamb and rare breed pork from our Large Black pigs and beef from our ancient White Park cattle to BBQ or take home, plus our own heritage flour and salads. Treat yourselves to a pizza on Friday nights made with our own farm flour and topped with our own produce, plus home cured olives, antipasti and nibbles, which are also available through the week. The rest of the week we have plenty of delicious offerings, including special food evenings, hot pots and cakes. See the menu board in our shop. Around our spacious site children can make dens, run in the woods and play games in the long grass. There are plenty of footpaths from the site too. The unspoilt pastures are a spectacle throughout the spring and summer with a show of bluebells and a host of other wild flowers. Mown paths wind down to a hand-crafted, oak-framed hut with a Chestnut shingle roof, based on a Saxon Romanian field barn design, which houses loos and hot showers (no coins or tokens required!). There's also a covered dishwashing area with hot water, power points and a fridge and freezer. We have one hand crafted oak and Douglas fir pod, which sleeps four on comfy mattresses (please bring your own bedding), with heating, power points, outdoor seating and BBQ and one 6m bell tent for hire, which sleeps four on comfy deep filled mattresses, rugs, plates, cups, bowls and cutlery and a fire pit with grill - please bring your own bedding and cooking pans. We also have 4m and 5m unfurnished bell tents to hire. View our bookings calendar for availability at chapelhousefarm.com
