Opening Dates this year: 01/05/2022 to 31/10/2022
With a love and passion for the outdoors and water, Martin & Nat of Ferrygate Camping invites you to dip your toes and explore the Norfolk Broads and its surrounding areas to your hearts content, and at your own pace…
Ferrygate is a traditional site located right next to the water. There are no electric hook-ups and no set pitches but is located in the middle of 9.5 acres of glorious countryside where its ever-so easy to relax to the sounds of mother nature.
Caravans and motorhomes are not permitted sadly although small campervans are allowed if they have a canvas awning that can be pulled out and used (drive-away awnings are also accepted).
After a days exploring, entertainment by night comes from campfire cooking and toasting marshmallows whilst enjoying the vast space, and due to this being a low light pollution site, stargazing is inevitably breath-taking.
The Broads is a water lovers paradise, with over 120 miles of navigable, lock-free waterways as well as 63 broads which have channels and cuts that can only be reached by Stand-Up Paddle Board, Kayak or Canoe and make for a perfect way to explore.
For those that prefer land-based adventures there are miles of the stunning sandy beaches, numerous walking trails and cycle routes both on and off-road awaiting hikers and cyclists alike … and all accessible from the site - this really is the best location for waterside living under canvas.
The nearest shopping facilities are in Martham which is a quaint village and only a 1 mile walk up quiet lanes. It has a large green with duck pond, post office, two Co-Ops, a pet supplies store as well as a couple of good pubs.
The beautiful coastal village of Winterton-on-Sea is only a ten-minute drive away and offers not only a majestical sandy beach which is perfect for taking a dip in, as also has the wondrous and very large Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve and superb pubs and tea-rooms.
Other local sandy beaches include Horsey for Seal Spotting, Sea Palling, Waxham and Happisburg all driveable from the campsite. Across the dyke from the campsite you can hire day boats meaning you can gain access to the best of the Broads by boat, and the site also has its own private launch facility for SUP, kayak and canoe - therefore all access to the water is on your doorstep, meaning theres no need to use the car at all.
