This is a splendid spot for those whod like a bit of peace and quiet - pitches are on a simple grass field well away from any neighbours.
Youll have to travel down a long farm track to get here (its rather rough and bumpy, so take it slowly) but the reward is a spacious and secluded stay on a small traditional family-run working farm with views out over fields of farm animals. (The owners describe it as ‘somewhat alike to The Darling Buds of May, for those who remember such telly treats.)
Because of those farm animals, no dogs are allowed on site here, but kids are very welcome and youre also able to set up barbecues for your evening meal (as long as youre careful with them…) Theres a pub a couple of miles away if you fancy a pint or a bite to eat.
Day trips around here might take you to the coast at Blackpool or Morecambe, inland to the Forest of Bowland or Lake District or for a bit of city action in Liverpool or Manchester, both of which are a little over an hours drive away (thereby also making this site also a good place for city dwellers who fancy a quick escape without a long drive).
- Wallings Ice Cream (farm shop and ice cream parlour): 15 minutes' drive - Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty: half an hour - Wild Discovery animal park: half an hour - Lancaster: half an hour - Blackpool: half an hour - Morecambe: half an hour - Lake District National Park: 45 minutes - Manchester: an hour and 10 minutes - Liverpool: an hour and 15 minutes.
