Adult only, dog friendly site - great views - coast path runs alongside site.
Clean, modern toilet block - hot showers.
The number 1 bus (Weymouth to Portland) is a short walk to stop, 30 minutes frequency, til late at night. - doesn't quite get to Portland light house, but it gets pretty close to The Cove House Inn - DT5 1AW
Recommend booking The Cove House Inn in advance. Great pub & great food.
We caught the No. Bus into Portland, then picked up the coastal path to the lighthouse.
Tesco extra near campsite bus stop - opposite Wyke Smuggler pub, Fish & chips plus Domino pizza nearby.
Walk to The Crab House Cafe - great food & service, but dog area is a bit limp. Need to book in advance as extremely busy.
Great walk or cycle along the nearby dismantled railway (The Todwell Trail) - now tarmac - around 2. 5 miles, Call into the Sandsfoot Cafe near old fort & gardens both worth a visit - free entry - the railway walk takes you all the way into Weymouth - No. 1 bus back £3 a ticket.
Weymouth - Rockfish was great - didn't try the Gurkha Bar and Buffet Restaurant, but seems popular - Bennetts Fish & chips is highly recommended - can eat your fish & chips in The Kings Arms pub next door, provided you buy a drink and clear your wrappings -.
Great views, level pitch, 7 minute walk to shops, pub and bus into Weymouth/Portland. That's about the only positives I can think of.
The servicing area was very tight. I couldn't get to the water tap to fill fresh water tank, so had to use a watering can. Elsan point isnt covered.
Toilet block is dated with no working hand driers(although fitted), and no paper towels, so people use the toilet paper, which then runs out. My wife stated there were 4 toilet cubicles in the ladies, but only 2 had toilet paper.
Showers have intermittent hot water, and nowhere really to put your clothes without them getting wet. The one toilet/shower block is a walk for everyone. Considering the price, I would have expected slightly better facilities, ie working hand driers or at least paper towels.
We were there for New Year and sadly we had extremely windy gale force weather, which was a big downside.
That said the site was virtually full, so at least 20 paying units, so to ask for basic sanitary facilities is not a lot to ask. Dish washing area was outside shower block, but covered. Can't comment on it, but there were more basins there than in the shower block.
Won't be back. I expected a better site for the money, and as someone else stated you can get better sites for less money. via mobile
We go here on a regular basis and have become chatty with just about everybody involved withe site and they really are so friendly.
We try and have the same pitch each time because I'm just in awe of the Alpacas and their funny little habits. Have got to know their owner and she is a lovely lady always willing to chat about them and I've been lucky enough to be invited into their field to get to know them.
No it won't win awards for kerb appeal but it is a working farm. Yes it can be a bit windy but nothing major. If you have any sort of problem they are there 24/7 to help you out so don't be put off by the fact that they are not walking around all day.
We try to go every 8-10 weeks as we find it ideal for us. Everything is close by and the bus service is superb in both directions.
We stayed here for 4 nights. Pretty basic ! We are of the age where we want more than basic. No where to put your clothes in the shower cubicles, water luke cold, the outside dish wash area was being used as a place to clean teeth and wash, not particularly clean.
The pitch we had was level with plenty of room, there was supposed to be a designated side on which you could put an awning although the van next to ours ignored this and brought their little doggie out to do it's business on our grass area (not the fault of site owners).
The path which leads to the costal path led only to a currently closed section of the path. I could list more minus items, would not stay here again.
The cost here was more than we pay at Caravan & Motorhome Club sites with no comparison to cleanliness and state of facilities.
Set in 15 acres of breathtaking countryside, right next door to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, this site offers stunning views of the Chesil Bank, Fleet Lagoon, and Lyme Bay. Welcoming tents, motorhomes and caravans, this family friendly site offers spacious grass pitches with or without electric. For kids there's an outdoor heated swimming pool, 3 acre playing area including slides, swings and more.
Facilities include toilets, showers, washing up, launderette, and WifI. There is an onsite shop and off-licence. The Bar in the Barn at the site serves a delicious food and offers a variety of entertainment, including live music. As well as the attractions of Weymouth's beach and harbour, this is a great base to explore family attractions throughout South and West Dorset. Find out more here
Lovely views, nice level pitch, only 7 mns walk to bus stop and shops. Footpath through site joined coastal footpath and the walk into Weymouth was interesting.
Chesil Beach and The Fleet with all their wildlife about 20mns walk, as was Portland (on the bus) so great for countryside lovers.
Pubs, cafes etc within easy walking distance, either along coastal path or through the housing estates.
Site facilities were OK, showers nice and hot and the shower room was warm. It appeared fairly clean which was commendable given the wet winter weather.
The only minor negative was that the site felt rather uncared for. Lots of potholes, but the piles of hardcore suggested the intention to deal with them. But also piles of concrete, wood, builders sand etc next to the camping areas and semi derelict vehicles nearby. Customer service was nil.
I never saw the owners, the only contact being on the phone and I noticed that everyone staying there had to find where the facilities were located, there was no one to show you.
Site friendly, beautiful views from pitches and loads of surrounding space around pitches.
Found site peaceful and this is with children playing. One comment when using showers floor area obviously gets soaking wet, so users needs to wear 3/4 length clothing. Husband often returned back to van with bottom of trousers wet, although dried out in sunshine.
Plenty of hot water for showers, ladies area as one hair dryer. Absolutely loved our stay and will be returning. Site attendants offered loads of surrounding area information big thank to you ladies and gentleman, you made our stay really enjoyable.
Site owner (senior gentleman) guided and helped us sited us to our pitch and electric hook up on arrival, just a lovely man.
Thank you all.
