Our first time at this campsite and we were not disappointed. We chose a hardstanding pitch which consisted of chipping with a grassy area to the side.
The entrance is controlled by bollards which are activated by recognising your car number plate, its a really secure system.
There are two facilities blocks, nearest to us were the portacabin type ones, four toilets and hand sinks in the ladies ( not sure about the mens) and a separate cabin with the showers. The hand sinks and showers were all digitally controlled. T
He showers especially were great, you could turn them on with the digital control, set your temperature and they were a good powerful spray.
If I have one niggle it's that there were no privacy cubicles for a wash but that's a minor when considering how clean the facilities were kept, they were fantastic and very posh for what looks like portacabins from outside.
There is another more traditional block nearer to reception but I didn't actually go in them.
There were dishwashing facilities and again you could change the temperature and it is lovely to have piping hot water for dishes.
In the site entrance there are vending machines for snacks, fresh milk and other drinks and ice cream, again we didn't make use of these but I can see they would be popular. There isn't a shop on site.
The site has a large dog walk field and just down the road there is a small farm shop with a
Cafe. There is a decent pub a little further on but we only stopped for a drink one evening,
The meals looked good though.
It is very convenient for trips into Weymouth, Abbotsbury Swannery, Chesil Beach, Bridport Street Market is worth a visit, West Bay is lovely and lots of other places to visit.
We really enjoyed our stay here and its a credit to the owners and staff. via mobile
This was the our favourite when we stayed at six different sites in one week.
There was a friendly welcome, nice pitches, and the best loos and showers I have ever seen on a campsite! The Cowshed vending machines are a brilliant idea too.
It is very reasonably priced - we paid more for much worse.
For a novice campervan driver the drive to the site was stress free, a nice, good sized road from the A31, through the village with no problems and straight into the site entrance. No narrow twisty lanes to navigate.
The farm shop only a short walk up the road is excellent, stocking all the things you would expect in a farm shop, plus newspapers, and they also have a small side room of camping essentials. Very friendly, and open 8am-5pm.
No complaints from us, just got back this afternoon from a 2 week stay, a great campsite.
The quality of the facilities sticks out straight off. Always clean, super hot unrestricted showers, top quality fittings and decent quality loo paper.
It was really busy over half-term but never had a problem getting a shower.
Impressed with the young lady that cleans the top loos in the morning, very thorough.
Also there's a lady that walks around every evening checking all's well, very helpful with pointing us to the nearest water tap when we arrived, even went and got us a brochure, many thanks.
Generous pitches and well kept grass. Only used the vending machine once (last day for a breakfast pasty as all packed to go and nothing to eat), but impressed with the price and quality, not a rip-off as you perhaps would expect.
Set in 15 acres of breathtaking countryside, right next door to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, this site offers stunning views of the Chesil Bank, Fleet Lagoon, and Lyme Bay. Welcoming tents, motorhomes and caravans, this family friendly site offers spacious grass pitches with or without electric. For kids there's an outdoor heated swimming pool, 3 acre playing area including slides, swings and more.
Facilities include toilets, showers, washing up, launderette, and WifI. There is an onsite shop and off-licence. The Bar in the Barn at the site serves a delicious food and offers a variety of entertainment, including live music. As well as the attractions of Weymouth's beach and harbour, this is a great base to explore family attractions throughout South and West Dorset. Find out more here
What a great site, the owners were very helpful, and welcoming. The facilities are spotless and modern. There is good security on the site and someone on hand all the time.
The very handy vending machines are a good idea too, we used them a few times. We made a mess of the grass due to the amount of rain, we were towed on and off the pitch.
The owners were very relaxed about the mud and assured us it would come back fine. The site was quiet, although it is October and the weather was awful, so not full.
We enjoyed our stay and would probably head here again if back in the area.
Not too far from Weymouth, Chesil beach etc. A pub close by as well as a cafe and farm shop over the road.
Pitches were slightly off level, but no big problem with ramps etc.
A good mix of hardstanding and grass pitches, of various sizes, facilities and prices. via mobile
