A friendly check in, which explained everything about the site.

I was on a hard standing pitch, which was well kept and had good space for an awning, (if required).

Showers, good pressure & hot water, the block was clean. Although, there seemed to be some grease or lubricant on the shower controls, which I had trouble getting off my hands

I liked the deep sinks in the washing up area, meant could soak everything at once.

The site is quiet despite being semi close to a road, no noise at night apart from the Owls and usual wildlife!

The walk to St Briavels, there are 2 routes.

One is road, it's grass verge no pavement (hi viz recommended).

The other is public footpath. To access this down the side of the campsite, its signposted, through a semi rocky woodland path, then through a sheep field.

The sheep field littered in pooh, I'd advise decent walking shoes / boots and take a torch, I wouldn't want to do it in wet weather or the dark + there are some stiles to negotiate.

It’s not overall difficulty, it took me 20 minutes to get to St Briavels.

The caveats I found.

The phone signal was terrible on Vodafone, kept drifting in and out. The site mentions, that it's in a black spot. The WiFi (guest), is essential to connect to anything Internet wise.

No food stores for miles, nearest was in Coleford 3/4 miles away, if you in a car no worries, but on foot, there's nothing local. Once pitched up, I rarely take my vehicle out, so I just used my e bike for this purpose to get about.

The campsite is small but very well maintained and clean. The toilet block which has washing up facilities and showers were clean and the hot showers were free.

There is a small shop on site open from 10am to 6pm during the high season, low season I believe it is only open Thursday through to Monday.

The negatives were the toilet rolls in the gents toilets ran out and were not replenished and also the hand soap.

Theses things should be part of the regular site maintenance and refilled/replaced during the day or first thing in the morning.

Overall I would give this site 8 out of 10.

Couldn’t recommend a better location for peaceful weekend away.

The shower rooms were so clean.

I was really surprised to see that they had a bath there for the children, very family friendly.

We had a great weekend will definitely be coming back soon!

Lovely campsite. Powerful warm showers which were kept clean.

Children have a separate play field to play in.

Helpful staff and a well stocked camp shop.

Would definitely recommend to other camper's.

Well manicured site with plenty of hard standing as well as camping pitches.

Lovely hot showers.

Nice walks from the site through the forest and over fields to the village. Good pub food.

Not so good for cycling as you have to go on the busy road initially.

Good location for the Forest of Dean if you have transport.

The campsite is compact, but with plenty of room between pitches. We were in a tent and our friends in a motorhome, we were able to pitch next to each other which was great.

We arrived on a Thursday and it was relatively quiet, Friday was a different story and lots of families descended and I think it was full.

The area around the site is beautiful with woods and a Brook - plenty of walks straight outside the campsite. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed it here.

There is a small shop which sells some essentials - including plenty of ice lollies, which was great as the weather was very hot.

The showers and toilets were clean, the site had the usual facilities.

A few minus points - there are lots of horseflies around when we were there. There was no phone signal at all, and the wifi was useless. Depending where your plot is there isn’t much shade.

We would return there, so the minus points wouldn’t put us off, we’d just be more prepared as this was a first time for over 10 years!

We loved our long weekend in the Forest.

This campsite was beautifully set out, not too big but had everything we would need.

Our littles ones loved the play area alongside the goats and chickens.

We found a lovely walk along the back of the site down to the woods and along a creek. Stunning!

Facilities were very clean and reception staff were so friendly! We'll be back!

 Excellent campsite.

Very warm welcome from Nathan in reception.

Brilliant loo/shower block.

Great dog walk round perimeter of site. Large pitches. Very clean site.

Only downside is bins were rather overflowing after a busy weekend but I guess that depends when rubbish is collected.

Thanks for a great stay.
