 We had the pleasure of staying at The paddocks last week.
We found the site extremely quiet and relaxing. The site had all the amenities we required, hard standing with electric, washing up facilities and general and recycling facilities.
The shower blocks was extremely clean, although there were on only 2 showers per block there was no problem in showering at any time of the day. There was also a separate disabled shower block.
A short walk into Wolsingham where there are a couple of extremely nice cafes for a bite to eat, butchers, bakery, small convenience stores and pharmacy.
Also a couple of pubs and a club, not forgetting the Italian restaurant.
A short drive to Beamish Museum where we spent a lovely couple hours, Crook and Durham.

This is a small and quiet site.
Perfect for pitching up and just being left to your own devices.
Good sized pitches and late Sunday checkout is brilliant when on a local stay.
The location is ideal. A short walk or cycle away to Wolsingham play park which my son loved.
We also enjoyed the ducks which came to visit.

First visit of the year to this great little site. As always, excellent stay. Weather was glorious.
Lots to do in the area - we visited Hamsterley and Teesdale during our visit.

We’ve used this site lots and it’s a great place.
Lovely set up, nice owners and laid back atmosphere.
Excellent base for Weardale and Teesdale.
Nice pubs and decent take ways in the town centre, a few minutes walk from the site.

The campsite is part of the Robson Caravan and Motorhome business, it is laid out in the adjacent paddock. Very comfortable with its own entrance when the business is closed.
The facilities are comfortable, clean and well looked after.
There are two string points of this site, very good access to the Northeast, Beamish, Barnard castle to name but a few of the many locations within an hour’s drive. There is a very good value petrol station for fuel and excellent provisions (had a few excellent ready meals from there).
Wolsingham town is a short walk with several pubs and restaurants – shame to say we ate in for the above reason.
If we were to explore the area further we would stay here.

This is an excellent site which we use regularly.
It’s well located for Weardale, as well S visiting Durham and other places in the county.
Lovely riverside location, good pubs in the village and always a warm welcome.

Great little site and very well maintained, nipping clean toilets and showers, lots of info on places to visit.
Downside is road noise probably affected more by the massive housebuilding project next door.
Not the fault of the site but not good for relaxing.
Apart from that fantastic site, good value!

Management response: Thank you for taking the time to review the Paddock and giving us a 10 star review.
We would like to clarify to potential visitors this season that the adjacent former steel works where houses are now being built is not directly next to The Paddock.
Our main business , caravan and motorhome sales, vehicle storage and workshops is located between The Paddock and the new housing project.
The work on the housing project is not carried out during weekends or evenings and working here on a daily basis we have not noticed any excess noise, nor any increased road traffic.
We do find that most of our guests are out during the day visiting many of the attractions County Durham has to offer, but if any visitors wishing to make a booking are concerned about road noise, please ask for a pitch on the riverbank which is furthest away from the road. |

Good sized pitches very friendly staff very helpfully.
Site and amenities all very clean.
Village short walk from site with most of what you need and good chippy and Chinese.

The campsite is beautifully maintained with much attention to detail. The toilet blocks are regularly checked and spotless. The owners are friendly, accommodating and go beyond to help you to have a restful stay.
We bought our Motorhome from Robson's of Wolsingham, The Paddock is their small campsite. They have a small shop where they hold products for use in Caravans and Motorhomes and have a wealth of knowledge relating to the vehicles.
The town of Wolsingham is a short stroll away from the site, with a number of outlets to purchase food etc. With lovely walks around the village and beyond.
It is a place to be able to discover Weardale and the North Pennines, Stanhope, Killhope and Alston are all worth a visit. We have enjoyed all of our visits to this campsite.

We stayed here as it was central to things we wanted to visit (Beamish and Weardale Railway on this visit). First time at this site, but won't be the last.
Although it's near a main road, the thick hedging at the front shield any noise. We had a pitch overlooking the river.
All pitches have electric hookup and because it's not a massive site, the water tap was only a few yards away from our van.
The toilets and showers are set in what used to be a static caravan and are immaculate - there's only a couple of showers in there but there's a disabled one next door also.
The shower uses tokens, which are provided in the toilets and give you 8 minutes at a time - just don't forget to put your token in before you go into the shower (it's on the wall in the main toilet area).
Robsons also have caravans for sale and caravanning supplies in their reception/shop. The staff we dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be visiting them again.
There's a few shops down in Wolsingham - a convenience store, charity shop, chinese takeaway and a cafe, which was unfortunately closed when we were there as they were on holiday. We'll catch that one next time we visit.
Just along the road from the campsite there's a fuel station also, which has a small Spar store within, so you're never far from being able to pick up the basics should you need them.
