Booked quite last minute for a night en route to another area of the Lakes.
Easy booking via their website, greeted by the owner as we arrived and shown around before we settled on our pitch. We had one of the two hard standing pitches which are away from the field whilst still near to the facilities.
The pitch was great, modern and well maintained, with a slight slope easily sorted out with levelling blocks. All pitches have a fire pit which you can buy wood for if you wish to use it.
The camping field is lovely, very peaceful as is the whole site. Toilets and showers are modern and very clean with lots of hot water. I imagine they are quite busy at main holiday times whilst not a bother for us. Clean washing up area, laundry area and honesty shop which is cash only.
There is a very peaceful and calming ambience to the site, we loved it and also enjoyed visits from the owner’s hens as we sat outside our van!
You walk down to Bassenthwaite which is about a mile down the road. We would definitely return to the site.

A lovely, secluded and sheltered campsite with great views of the surrounding mountains and lake. It is a fairly quiet campsite and everyone is respectful.
There are two ladies toilets and two showers, whilst the mens has one shower. Plus there is a unisex wet room. The showers are good, with changing space. The sink area is tight on space at busy times, but we never had to queue.
The washing-up area had three sinks, with some cover and hot water.
The site is well laid out, but it would be helpful to have more water points. It is nice that each pitch gets its own fire pit and the shop sells everything you need for the fire including the marshmallows.
The shop has all the essentials you may need and there is an honesty box out of hours. Plus access to a washing machine and freezer.
The new owner (only a few weeks into the job) is really lovely, super helpful and knows her stuff. I am sure she'll put in a plan of improvements to make the place even better, as some bits look tired and need replacing, but the main facilities are already really good. Then I would certainly give it 10/10.
There is also a field area for kids to play in, which includes a few items and a goal, plus there is a field for exercising your dogs.
We experienced awful gales and heavy rain, but thanks to the pitches being sheltered nobody's tents got damaged. Just the electric pitches got rather muddy in places. To be expected in the Lakes!
Well located for a balance of feeling rural, yet in easy access of the A66, Keswick, the lakes and the coast.
We were very happy at this site and would happily return when we next go camping in that area. I would highly recommend this site.

Overall, an excellent campsite. The only downside is therefore the price, which at £24/n for a couple in a tent initially appears to be pushing the upper limits of value. So here is what you get:
1. A well maintained, gently sloping field with sheltered areas if needed from wind and sun. Each pitch also has an old car wheel for use as a fire pit should you wish to smoke out the neighbours, although there is plenty of space between pitches.
There is a track running across the site and a few smaller parking places but driving on the grass and parking next to the tent is not allowed. There are no camper vans either. This greatly adds to the peace and quiet of the campsite. There was very little noise after 22:00h.
2. The water in the wash blocks is hot and "free". The facilities are kept clean and tidy, even if a little cramped. There is a separate wet room with loads of space for two. There are several washing up sinks too.
3. There is a campsite office and shop, a freezer for ice packs only and an honesty box for treats and fire wood if out of hours. Loads of information available, posted or from the owners. Use it!
4. Free range chickens, with names, and fresh eggs for sale!
5. Close to the Cumbrian Way with easy access to The Northern Fells by foot. Other beautiful villages nearby. The local Sun Inn in Bassenthw' serves excellent beer and food and is very tourist friendly.
A good find!

T each pitch has a firepit. We won;t got to a campsite that doesn't allow bbq's and firepits, so this was perfect.
Loved how quiet this campsite is even with a group of lads and a family group. All noise had stopped by 11 latest on our last night which was very busy. It was dying down at ten anyway. We went to bed at 10 just because we were tired and although we could hear chatter it was minimal.
Great location for lots of hikes, lakes and Keswick itself, I only dropped it one point on this basically due to the rocky road surface on the way up but that's not a reflection or the sites fault at all.
It gets better nearer to the site. Just drive slow. I definitely will be back as I got no peaks climbed due to crazy hot weather.
Thanks all for a wonderful stay. Sarah & Ali x

Popular Choice in this Area
Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale
Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.
Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

Was a little worried after reading reviews regarding noise strictness as I have a child with autism that makes random noises, but turns out there was nothing to worry about. We had a lovely stay.
The owners where great, the chickens where really entertaining and the walks where stunning.
Drinking water on site, hot clean showers and clean toilets and a well stocked shop on site.
Views where amazing and I'm so jealous they get to live there 😆.
We will definitely return and definitely recommend to people

Stayed here to complete walking the remaining Wainwright Northern Fells. A superb site located in a very secluded spot accessed along a forest track.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The camping field is slightly sloping and is well sheltered, being surrounded by trees. Cars are parked on several small hardstanding areas around the field, which keeps the grass in good order.
The toilet and shower facilities were kept spotlessly clean and well ventilated.
An advantage for walkers is that you can begin your walks directly from the campsite, the Cumbria Way passing right by the site.
One of the attractions for us was the quiet and peaceful nature of the site, with dark star-filled skies and only the hooting of owls at night. The site would therefore not be appropriate for large groups of friends who might wish to stay chatting or playing music late at night.
The owners have provided several thoughtful features, such as a covered group of picnic tables, and fire pits for those who wish to have a camp fire. Logs may be bought from reception, along with several other essentials such as tea, coffee and a few basic food items, with an honesty box system for use when reception is closed.
Overall an excellent, well-kept site especially suited to lovers of nature, the outdoors and peace and quiet.
