Great site, drying room, clean toilets, free hot showers, washroom. Good shop/breakfast cafe.
Plenty of tent pitches that are nice and flat.
Nearby pubs do food. Lanty shee pub is nice, but has miserable rude staff, so others are a better bet imo.
Great walking area, great views from the site.
A bit pricing for a single backpacking tent and no car, £17. But facilities made it worth it for me.

Everything was five star, from the shop/reception, the friendly staff, the clean site, toilet and showers, as well as the views and accessibility to multiple trails.
Nice and quiet at night too!

Lovely quiet site, with clean facilities and dramatic views.
The site shop serves breakfast and is reasonably priced (£5 for a bacon baguette).
Easy walking distance to 2 pubs and a bus stop on the edge of the site into Ambleside etc.

Fabulous location with clean showers and toilet block
Drying room is a great addition as are the hot sarnies and brews available from 8am
The shop is handy for the inevitable forgotten or busted item and the staff are uber helpful
The only gripe is a lack of wifi - in an area that has zero cell coverage and an increasing reliance on gps mapping this really needs to be sorted - I went to the pub and got my updates there

A nice campsite in a stunning spot. Great facillities for campers including a drying room. Welcoming and friendly staff.
Beware, prices are per tent. This makes for a very expensive stay if you are solo in a one man tent.
£19 is a bit too costly for the facilities so it is unlikely I will be staying again.

Backpacked in from Grasmere with my two adult sons in late December. Arrived just before reception closed at 4pm just as it was starting to get dark. We had no booking as the National Trust booking system only allows bookings of two or more nights, but I rang the booking enquiry number beforehand to check whether this was OK - unlikely to be a problem in winter when the site is quiet but not recommended during busy times in summer. The warden was helpful and gave us a choice of 3 fields to pitch in.
Pitches were nice and flat but notices warned of possible flooding after heavy rain so beware. Ground took the pegs well once we penetrated the permafrost!
Facilities were excellent, toilet blocks recently refurbished, I suspect. Shower was excellent, with lashings of hot water (most welcome after a cold night). Also a drying room, and the reception shop sells useful necessities such as gas, food, dog poo bags etc.
Location is superb for hillwalking, and there are no less than three pubs within easy walking distance. Site is very shady in winter though as the sun does not rise above the steep sided hills to the south. Consequently the ground was covered by a thick layer of frost when we arrived - it is a cold spot.
Only downside is the price, at £19 a head rather expensive for camping, and this included a £5 discount as we walked in rather than arrive by car. Despite this I will probably use this site again.

I liked the site. Stayed here to do some walking as I prefer to avoid driving and parking in the Lakes.
Really quiet, didn’t feel full. Lovely clean shower and toilet block.
Has a small shop that sells some essentials.
Five minutes to a pub that is well priced and sells good.
Ten minutes to another pub that does the same.
No phone reception or wifi but you do get the latter at the pubs.
Will return.

This is a wonderful
Well organised peaceful park.
Spectacular views, walks directly from gates.
Quiet at night.
Staff are extremely helpful.
Facilities and shower area very clean with heated flooring.
Our first time staying here, will definitely return and recommended to family who are going to book.
Tried old dungeongill pub 5 minute walk away for a meal
Tasty, reasonably priced food.

I stayed one night in a one person tent while walking the Cumbria Way. It's located right next to the route so is ideal.
It was early in the season so there was plenty of space to get a good pitch.
It cost £16 for the one night so wasn't cheap. Having said that the facilities were excellent and there is a decent size shop on site for basic necessities and a pub within walking distance.
The staff were also very helpful and customer focused so all in all I'd definitely be happy to stay here again.

Little on the expensive side. Unable to pitch tent properly due to very rocky ground. Some pegs didn't go in at all.
At £27 per night expected a flat pitch but ground sloped as well as being rock hard.
Facilities were clean and adequate but nothing special.
Left 2 days earlier than planned.
Staff polite and helpful.

Fantastic campsite in a beautiful location.
The site is well looked after, shop well stocked, staff friendly, and facilities all excellent.
We were there when the campsite was fully booked, and there was plenty of space - you're not packed in like at some sites.
The site feels really lovely with lots of trees and a few different fields to choose from.
Within walking distance of a few pubs and plenty of amazing hikes.
Fully recommend this site!

Stayed here many times over the years, including a memorable tent invasion by a hungry hedgehog.
This was our first time with the campervan, there are four dedicated campervan pitches otherwise you park on the car parking hardstanding along the access roads.
Shower block was toasty warm with hot showers and underfloor heating, shop was adequate though pricey and quirky {no cereal bars, chickpea curry).
A short stagger to the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub which has a renowned climbers bar with fire, food, local ales, dog=friendly and free WiFi.

I was blown away by this camp site
Stunning location
Considering the camp site was full it did not feel crowded at all.
The facilities were wonderful and very clean! I absolutely enjoyed my stay and would recommend 10/10
