Shell island is a great site an has improved as the years go on. The facilities on site are all great you can buy everything on site that you need if you do forget anything.
Showers and toilets are cleaned throughout the day. The on site mini supermarket has a very good selection of goods the gift shop has some nice bits and bobs and the camping shop can also be very handy.
The cafe/restaurant an pizza shops are all very good quality an reasonable costs. They have recently added a little coffee shop/cafe by the harbour which is also a very nice treat.
It can be hard to find a nice flat pitch but with a good drive around you will normally find a nice spot. It has a very nice beach to walk along.
The atmosphere there always seems very friendly and the people are in general are very helpful to anyone who does need help of any sort.

Lovely spacious site with various places to pitch - large fields, sea views, woodland areas.
Wasn't too busy despite being booked out (although the shop/café area gets busy).
Beautiful, sandy beach with views across to Abersoch, Phwelli etc on one side, and Snowdonia on the other. )
Plenty of toilet blocks and water pipes dotted around.
Some of the toilets didn't have hot water or mirrors.
£10 to charge a power pack is a bit extortionate.

Booked Shell as I had been before a bit apprehensive as I hadn't Off Gridded before.
On arrival on a very windy morning I went to reception where I was greeted by enthusiastic and polite staff. Told I could pitch where I liked as long as I was 15 metres away from anyone I didn't know.
The site is huge and surrounded by amazing scenery from beaches, mountains and Harlech castle.
The site has a reasonably priced market, outdoor shop and gift shop.
The bar was cosy with a large outdoor seated and play area.
The food bar was plentiful and again reasonably priced.
There is a single large shower block which can be a trek depending where you are set up but several toilet blocks dotted around.
You are not far from other great pubs, towns and villages which are well worth seeing between tides
For me this is a must visit if you are tenter, motorhomer or campervanner. You won't be disappointed.
I'm going back

Have been on loads of sites, and this one is one of the best.
Pitch where you like, superb views, and superb facilities.
Keen prices, campfires encouraged and a 15 m policy between units.
Best of all - no caravans.
You have to try shell island at least once in your lifetime.

We've been coming for 20 years. Now the kids have left school, we come outside of school holidays.
Much quieter, and peaceful.
The island has things for people of all ages, and the dog loves it.

Again a great time
Fortunately the weather was Perfect
So much to do, fishing, crabbing, eating, drinking, lazing about,
Been coming Here for Over 40 years when all there was, was a check in at the House/shop and the little Beach shed next to the telephone box / wishing well.
For the Size of the camp site it is well Maintained. Usually clean,
The shop is well stocked, not over priced really.
The Bar/tavern ( unfortunately due to covid restrictions, TV room was closed so unable to watch the Football. )
Everyone we met outside in temp Marquee was friendly and happy to have a bit of banter about the footie "Man Utd vs Wolves "
Cant wait for 2022 season. When Hopefully all restrictions are lifted, and back to normal

Lovely site with something for everyone.
Great views, lovely beaches,
Some great places to pitch.
The bar/tavern was covid restricted, so table service under the big marquee, staff worked hard and very pleasant and polite.
Shop is reasonable priced all things considered, burgers and bacon were pretty expensive but of a very good quality.
Camp shop is quite dear.
We went sea fishing, on the western flyer (the islands own boat), fantastic trip, we even had dolphins swimming next to us.
The staff at reception and the lads on the gate are first rate, and quite undervalued by the customers.
This year they had recycling bins, which is great,
BUT people used them as bins for normal rubbish, rather than the skip right next to it?
That's what let's the place down, the visitors.
As with everywhere, 90% are great, the rest are only interested in themselves (it's worse at weekends, which is why we only go Sunday to Friday)
We've been coming for nearly 20 years, and will still come, it's just a shame about the idiots.

Love it here, been coming since 2009, choose your own pitch (but choose wisely) couple of nights got a bit loud but security were on to those with radios After 10.
Staff friendly and helpful, camp, souvenir and supermarket on site. Tavern serves a lovely pint of Erdinger which can be enjoyed outside.
Facilities were mostly clean (it's a large place so they have a lot to keep clean). But of course the main reason to go here is the beach.
My two girls loved it. Oh grab yourself an ice cream from the souvenir shop.
Will return again and again.

Amazing time as always Covid rules in force and managed well.

Toilets and showers immaculate each time we used them. Staff very friendly and helpful.
What more can I say but we had a brilliant time first time away in 16 months.
