A site with stunning picture postcard views from just about every part of the site. Didn't see any staff and check in was via telephone.
The pitch wasn't all that level front to back and the hardstanding wasn't broad enough to avoid having to pitch up against the hedge on one side but there was a fresh water tap on the pitch and lots of space between us and the next level of pitches.
The facilities were plentiful and the fresh flowers in the vase was a beautiful touch, as were the dahlias and other plants around the site, but I found the facilities too cold and wet to venture a comfortable shower. The washing up area could do with a clean.
The weather for most of our stay was very wet and very windy so it did limit what we could see and do. Managed to walk into Fowey (which is not as nice as I remember it from 10 years ago) got the bus back. The bus service seems good if you use it make sure you know where to pick up the bus for the return journey, it isn't obvious. There is no terminus.
There is a co-op about half way between the site and Fowey.
Two things we really appreciated on this site. One was the Wifi. With the weather effectively locking us down for most of our stay the unlimited Wifi was a saviour. No problems with it and a good strong signal. Second was the proprietor agreeing to let us turn up early so's we could arrive before the storm was in full swing.
So there was a mix of good and not so good things on this site and for the price it was excellent value.
Stumbled across this fabulous site near Fowey and couldn't have found a better place.
The facilities are excellent, the pitches huge and amazing views across to the sea. The staff super friendly and efficient, the facilities were spotless.
Very convenient for visiting nearby places, there is a co-op within 2 miles with a wide range of goods.
Beware the walk down to the beach is STEEP and no dogs allowed, however Parr beach is only a mile or so away and is excellent for dog walking with a wide sandy beach.
Probably the best campsite I have visited in over 45 years camping, there is another in North Devon too but Penhale is much less expensive, oh and BTW the owner James is a great chap
Although this site is near Fowey it is a long walk (would be difficult in wet weather) to the town, although only 25 minutes to Polkerris, so difficult without transport.
Lovely sea views from all the terraced pitches and better than basic sanitary facilities.
Lovely roses in the toilets but sadly no mop or squeegee for the shower which we would happily have used to keep the floor clean.
With sea and countryside views, Tregarton Park is ideal for couples or families with younger children, given its relaxed seclusion and proximity to so many of Cornwall's fine safe sandy beaches. Large grass and hardstanding pitches with electric, divided by hedging and shrubs, perfect for tents and tourers. No statics! Superb toilet and shower block with large glass shower cubicles operated by motion sensors with ceiling mounted shower heads, laundry room, baby changing station.
This peaceful park is home to an outdoor heated swimming pool with waiter service, tennis court, adventure playground, outdoor football table, table tennis, pool table, large shop and take away service. FREE WiFi, dog walking meadow. Pentewan Beach is just five minutes away! Find out more here
A fabulous campsite with incredible views. A good Covid secure check in, on arrival you text a number & they either text back your pitch number or come & greet you.
We didn’t use the inside facilities but they looked clean & in good order.
The pitches are good sized, well spaced out & have water and electric hook ups very close to each pitch.
There’s a short walk down to Pollkeris beach. And an up hill walk back!
The beach is NOT dog friendly but Par beach is just down the road and is great for dogs with plenty of parking and nice & quiet.
We had a great pitch at the back of the site which had the most incredible views as do most of the pitches.
The only downside we experienced, which I appreciate is totally out of the control of the site is that it’s right on a busy road which was very noisy very early in the morning through until around 8/9pm.
We would happily return to this site.
I’ve given child friendliness a 10/10 as I couldn’t submit without giving it a rating, we weren’t travelling with kids and didn’t actual see any during our stay.
I chose this site as it was one the few locally which wasn't full for a last minute booking in August. There are many terraced, designated pitched with EHU and a large free for all field.
Whilst the individual pitches are generally more level the main field does have quite a slope. Having said that, there are less sloping areas. The A3082 runs along the North perimeter of the site and this is busy during the day so there is the inevitable traffic noise if you pitch nearby.
Despite this, I chose a flatter pitch nearer to the road and had a fantastic view over the field and across the bay to Mevagissey.
On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owner, Sam, who was very helpful and gave us some useful, local information. The campsite, although busy (as expected in August) had a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and there was plenty of space for kids to play out in the main field.
The wash rooms were absolutely fine, clean and functional with vases of fresh spider dahlias adding a pleasant touch. The push button showers were a bit of a pain and there was a distinct lack of hooks for wash bags etc around the gents wash basins. Road noise, sloping field, push button showers and lack of hooks aside, its a great campsite!
You can walk to Polkerris beach, about 30 mins, where the Rashleigh Inn does great food and beer. You can walk all around the Gribbin Head to Fowey (2. 5 hrs) and then back to the site from Fowey (about 2. 5 miles). Mostly along footpaths, mostly with steep hills typical of Cornwall.
I took the passenger ferry from Fowey to Polruan (£2. 30 single) and then walked the 7 miles to Polperro. Allow at least 3 hours for this each way but the coastal scenery is amazing and Polperro is beautiful, especially at high tide. No rush since the ferry runs until 23:00h but you will need all day for this expedition!
Fantastic location to explore this corner of Cornwall.
There is a small Co-Op 10 mins down the road and a Tesco in St Austell, about 20 mins away. Only local shops in Fowey.
