Small site with narrow access road, motorhome waste point easy to access.
Facilities block is dated and difficult to keep clothes dry while using shower, also water temp varied greatly if anyone else using facilities.
Easy to walk into town using directions at entrance to site.
Tesco express and a Sainsbury’s in town plus a butchers and a bakery, loads of cafes plus a cider shop and a few cheese shops.
Cheddar gorge easy to walk to. Brewery and taproom if you walk along to industrial estate.

We love Cheddar and all it has to offer. We usually stay at the privately owned site next door, but out of season we use the CAMC site.
Fantastic wardens this time. Friendly welcome and always happy.
It was busy as it was the run up to New Year, so limited choice of pitches but all large hardstandings. Found one free in our favoured area.
Small facilities block but always very warm and clean. Indoor washing up area and laundry. Site barriered in and out so nice and safe.
Easy walk into the village and plenty of pubs (The White Hart being our favourite), cafe's (Cafe Gorge for us) and restaurants. Also a large Sainsbury's near by and a small Tesco Express on the outskirts of the village.
Glorious walks in and around the Gorge and village.
We had a lovely Chinese takeaway on New Years Eve from Dragon House, a short walk from the site.
Lovely touch from the wardens too - chocolates for everyone on NYE.
Love that it's open all year and we can keep returning.

2nd visit in few months for no particular reason.
As you would expect with a MACC site the wardens were lovely and helpful, the site immaculate and lavatory/Shower block spotless. Unfortunately the shower cubicles were designed by J. R. R. Tolkien and ideal sized for people with very hairy feet.
With help from wardens found excellent pitch.
Site a bit noisy during the day but certainly very quiet evening and nighttime.
I believe all pitches are EHU but I don’t think there is a dog walk or children’s play area.
There was a laundry and washing up area with a fully equipped lab/engineering shop where some members were building a full sized working replica of the great hadron collider.
Cheddar village and the gorge are within easy walking distance.
There is a Budgens, a butchers and a bakers. Opposite the supermarket is a bakers selling pasties and cakes. Buy some bread pudding. You won’t be sorry.
The Gorge is the obvious visit but we thought the first part definitely a bit tacky. Walk through that a you see the gorge proper but be careful of traffic.
If you want to eat there try the Lion Rock Cafe. In the garden if nice.
The church in Cheddar is worth a visit.
Otherwise the information room tells all.
We like this site and it’s fairly local so we’ll probably go back.
You can even hear the sea lions at night.

Lovely site, easy waking distance from the town and attractions in Chedder itself.
Lots to do nearby and a very well kept site.
Great dog walks from the site, lots of great eateries nearby too.
Highly recommended.

Another excellent visit to this site albeit after a few years break.
On arrival we had a very friendly welcome from the lady warden and told to go off and find a pitch.
There was work being carried out in the centre of the site but it didn’t cause any problems.
The site wasn’t very well occupied so we eventually picked a pitch with several empty pitches either side. Lovely quiet stay.
As you would expect from a MACC site it was immaculate.
Lavatories and showers always very clean. I usually moan
About the small shower cubicles on club sites but here they take the biscuit. They are positively tiny.
Visited Tyntesfield and Wells both of which are excellent but in truth this was an unusually brief visit.
The Gorge is good to see with walks over the top but the approach from the village to the Gorge is gross. Just a tourist trap.
Don’t dislike this site and may well visit again. You can even hear the sea lions at night.

What a smashing little site, friendly wardens, spotless facilities and only a five minute walk into town.
Wells was a great place to visit, lovely market and not forgetting the Cathedral.
A very pleasant walk around the reservoir.
If you are visiting the East Somerset Railway at Cranmore, the Strode Arms is a must for lunch and only a two minute walk away.

Brilliant out of season site (we stay next door during the main season as it's adults only!).
Love Cheddar and this site is excellent with everything on your doorstep.
Fantastic wardens and quick and easy check in.
Choose your own pitch (large hardstandings) and then go back and pay/collect barrier card.
Small toilet/shower block but very clean and up to CAMC standard (other than the shower cubicles being really small).
Information room (extensive), washing up area (indoor) and laundry.
Bins and water around the site, never too far away.
Easy walk into the village, supermarkets, quirky shops, pubs restaurants, takeaways, etc. All you could need.
We'll definitely be back again out of season.

Great location 20 mins walk from the gorge attractions, and great local walking routes through country and riverside.
Immaculate site with well spaced pitches and a very friendly welcome.
A short walk takes you into Cheddar village where there are plenty of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants to visit. You are given a map on arrival to help with directions but it is signposted.
We had a meal in the Riverside Inn one day, good food but beer was disappointing and another day we had a cream tea in the Gorge Cafe after completing the circular gorge walk.
Facilities block is more than adequate for the size of the site and kept immaculately clean.

The relief warden Fiona was so welcoming and had reserved me a pitch which was brilliant. We were on a hard standing and the pitch was big enough.
I can only comment on the disabled toilet/shower room and it was adequate although it could do with better ventilation as the inside of the door was always covered in condensation.
The motorhome point is after the exit barrier and is slightly awkward to position into, in a bigger motorhome, and leave room for exiting traffic.
The walk into Cheddar is not too far and we did visit the cheddar cheese experience and well worth a visit and ooh that cheese!
I did walk alone one day into Sainsburys, I am blind, and there is a left hand bend into Cheddar which is advisable to walk on the outside of whichever direction you are walking in. There is little or no pavement between the campsite and the bend.
All in all a very clean site and good locality and would return.
