Spent 2 nights on this site

Received a very warm welcome from enthusiastic staff

Cheddar as a village seems to be living on past glories and the site reflects that. The facilities are tired and clearly in need of an upgrade, which is a shame because the site has a lot going for it.

It is within easy walking distance of the village and the gorge, but a lot of the 'attractions' there have clearly seen better days, even though our visit was at the end of Bank Holiday week

We had lunch at the Riverside where the 'sharing ploughman's' represented something of a challenge

Typical Caravan & Motorhome site. Very clean, good amenities, friendly and helpful staff. BUT I feel like I'm camping in a city, regimented rows of caravans and motorhomes. For me it serves a purpose, somewhere clean and safe when I can't find a suitable rustic alternative.

Having said that though, its very handy for the village and gorge and there's some great walks nearby, all available direct from the site.

Great site, clean and tidy all round. Hot showers that you have control over. Didn't see any kids play area on site but there is a park along the foot path. Noisy church bells at time but nothing too much

Easy to reach the village and the gorge along a foot path. Ate in The Bath Arms a couple of time, nice food and beer plus it's dog friendly.

Nice walk around the reservoir which our dog enjoyed and it's quiet roads and paths all the way there.

This was our first visit here. Site and toilets very clean and Sainsbury's is about a 10 mins walk away. Do follow the directions given by the club site as the sat nav will take you down some very narrow lanes.

Peter and Eileen (the wardens) were amazing when I got toothache. They helped me find an emergency dentist and as there was no available taxis to be had, ran me to the dentist and back and even to the chemist. I can't thank them enough.

We will definitely be returning.

Access to this site is quite straight forward, despite what others may have said previously. Follow the A371 from the M5 direction as it skirts Cheddar. The road narrows slightly and you're looking out for the football club on the RHS. Take the lane to the right and follow the brook for 80 yds until the wide entrance is on your left.

There are no passing places on this stretch, but if you are worried send a passenger to make sure your way is clear.

Nice friendly wardens at the time of our visit, and as always with CC sites the facilities were immaculately clean. No playground for kids.

Reception sells a few odds and ends, but Sainsbury's and Tesco are a short walk away.

No on site dog walk, but once out of the gate turn right and 50 yds later dogs can be let free to run.

Cheddar and the gorge are within walking distance from the site, as are numerous pubs and restaurants.

If you like sunshine, avoid the pitches under the trees on the west side of the site. You will hear the church bells, and to be honest the bell ringers need all the practice they can get. Also on match nights you will be disturbed by the vocal crowd at the football club as well as the flood lights that also illuminate much of the CC site.

Very handily located for sight seeing around Somerset.

Nice little site but as it was a week before the half term holidays very quiet, a bit too quiet for us but we seemed to get used to it. Toilets clean and tidy with red hot showers and are not locked anymore. The lady in reception very helpful but her husband is a bit of a grump but you can't have everything and once on site did not have much to do with them. Budgens supermarket is now closed but it seems Sainsburys is taking over the premises so shopping will be easier. If you are contemplating the Gorge walk please be warned, first part up the left hand hill is very steep and rough under foot but the view from the other side is worth it especially if you dare stand on the edge of the cliff. Clarks shopping village in Street is worth a visit and if you fancy a drive on a beach go to the far end of Brean sands and drive straight on for miles. Perrys Cider Farm in Ilminster is lovely especially at this time of year, parked in the orchard and got bombed by apples dropping of the trees.

A nice litte site on the outskirts of Cheddar. It is situated off a very narrow lane so please take note of Caravan Club instructions on arrival times there is good a good reason for them. The usual high standard of Caravan Club facilities. A easy walk into Cheddar and the Gorge. A Tesco Express and a Budgens within walking distance. Most of the pubs are dog friendly either in the bar or beer gardens. We had a nice meal at the White Hart which wasn't expensive.

Excellent site - well placed on the edge of Cheddar Village, within walking distance of the famous Cheddar Gorge. There are a number of dog friendly pubs (who do amazing food!) within walking distance. The warden on the site was lovely, welcoming when we arrived and a happy face was presented with every interaction.

The site itself was very well maintained, and the facilities were excellent. Although 4 showers for the Ladies doesn't seem enough, it was on a weekend that was fully booked.

Plenty of washing up sinks and a functioning laundry room. The individual plots were well spaced - Would thoroughly recommend, excellent value or money!

The entrance to this site is via a very narrow lane and you need to follow the instructions given by the caravan club regarding access. Don't be put off once on site it is great, the usual high standard facilities are available, the site is secure with barrier access/exit. Free view was fine level pitches both hard standing and some large grass pitches ideal for those with larger awnings. Cheddar village is a few minutes walk and the local Budgens will supply all your needs, if you are a meat lover try the scotch eggs £2. 00 but worth every penny, also the locally produced pies were great. There is also a Tesco extra, Chinese and indian takeaway in the village

Cheddar gorge is a 20 minute walk and has all you would expect from a tourist attraction. Clarkes Village is a 30 minute drive for those in need of retail therapy.

Not the friendliest of welcomes, but booked in quickly and asked to pick our own pitch and return with the number. We chose a nice corner pitch on hardstanding with grass either side. Later found that this backs onto a small lane and then onto a footpath to town or along by the river. Unfortunately in the evenings all the local youths seemed to gather along here and shout & swear at the top of their voices for a couple of hours! I found this quite worrying as we were just behind a thin hedge.

The facilities were clean and of a good standard. The TV signal is quite patchy, even when plugged in. Mobile signal is good.

No dog walk on site, but we had a nice walk down by the river and made it into a circular of about 5 miles, cutting back into the other end of Cheddar.

We won't be hurrying back to this site, the whole area is too busy for us.
