 Unfortunately, this wasn’t a campsite I’d choose to return to.
The biggest issue for us was the cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities. I spent much of our stay worrying about my children using them, as they were consistently very dirty. It appeared that the toilet paper was being replenished, but beyond that the facilities didn’t seem to be cleaned to an acceptable standard. We came across poo, vomit, blood and general dirt, and even the mops and buckets available appeared old and unclean.
The field itself was quite overgrown, with more weeds than grass in places, and there was very little signage to indicate walking routes or other areas around the site.
The playground was also looking quite tired and would really benefit from some maintenance and updating.
There were a number of old caravans parked together beside the field, and it wasn’t clear whether they were occupied or simply being stored, which made the site feel a little neglected.
On a positive note, our children made friends and had a wonderful time, which is always lovely to see.
It was easy to book. I have done via email and they were helpful and polite. Other than that we didn’t interact or visit cafe / shop. We were surprised to know we will be refunded of the electricity we didn’t use. The place has potential…
However, for us, the condition and cleanliness of the facilities outweighed the positives, and unfortunately we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Great little campsite tucked away in west Lancashire, quiet, good walks nearby, and good amenities,
Good for the children as there’s a park & animals to keep them occupied,
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I have used this campsite many times since 2023, and have always found it to be pleasant, clean and friendly.
The manager David, I have to say is very pleasant and works hard.
However, this visit was disappointing, the toilets/showers area, 2 toilets 1 shower (ladies) were unclean from Saturday early afternoon when I arrived to Tuesday afternoon when I left.
There was no toilet rolls in all this time and 2 small bins was overflowing with rubbish. I did ask staff, but either wasn't reported or ignored? I was going to comment on leaving on Tuesday 30th June but reception/cafe was closed. 12. 30pm.
Most of the campers are permanent caravans, living there. I felt it has lost its family feel.

The locality and campsite is good. Quiet and surrounded by farmland but so easy to get to southport etc. The tea room is delightful as are the staff. Electricity very reasonable.
Play area is a little tired but still safe and usable.
Access to bins/recycling easy enough.
The toilet and shower facilities where however not great. Dirty, lack of toilet rolls, mud in the shower tray. Tried not to use them. Hoping this was due to abuse by some people even though it was quiet on site.
Overall a decent site with lovely tearoom.

The site was very reasonably priced and easy to find, in a great location for visiting such nearby attractions as Martin Mere and Southport - with bus and rail links within 30 minutes' walk.
Electric hook-up isn't included in the price but the pre-paid card is very reasonable too, so you won't find yourself out of pocket on that score.
The main downside for us was the toilet and kitchen facilities. The toilets didn't look to have been cleaned during our stay and the gents were in a poor state of repair. There was a large sink for washing up but not illuminated enough at night. Showers were nice and warm and clean though.
Another plus was the nearby tearoom and farmshop with friendly and amenable staff and quality food and drink. It's not open Mondays or Tuesdays though, so bear in mind if you want to make the most of it during your stay.

Lovely chilled couple days our grandson enjoyed the park and loved the donkey.
Will definitely go again.
Site will be even better once scheduled refurbishment on shower blocks.

Tucked away from the Hussle and bussle of life.
The owner David met us on arrival and we had a very quiet night on making our way down from Scotland to East Anglia.

The site is in a nice location, fairly quiet and handy for Burscough, Ormskirk, Southport and Ainsdale, as well as lots of other small villages, in a lovely part of the North West.
The site has a busy cafe and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The site looked generally untidy and is not landscaped or very pleasing to the eye. The camping field is literally that, a field. It could probably have done with mowing, but luckily it was dry, so we didn’t get wet at all.
The washroom facilities were a bit of a walk from where we were pitched. These were also the low point of our stay. It was obvious that they had not been cleaned for a whilte. The floors were coated with mud, the sinks full of dried on scum and the toilet pans filthy with stains, with no brushes available. I politely complained about their condition and as a result the floors were mopped (not very well), with everything else left untouched.
Obviously a site that we will not be visiting again.

Lovely little rural site not far from southport. Showers and toilets could do with a little tlc.
Tea rooms/shop was lovely and not to pricey
Staff very friendly, small play area for the little ones.
Would definitely return.
