A well maintained site due to the wardens who are lovely, friendly, hardworking people. Nothing is too much trouble, and they will do anything to accommodate you. We didn’t use any facilities as we have our own, but everything looked clean. We booked a gold standard pitch but were a little underwhelmed with what we were allocated, given the price.
The hard standing gravel was patchy with the weed membrane poking through. Water was via a shared split tap which someone helped themselves to and left the water running onto our pitch. There was no particular view unless you like looking out onto other campers. We weren’t aware of or disturbed by traffic noise as some reviews have mentioned. Yes, the road is busy and you have to wait if you want to do a right turn, but it is what it is.
However, we would suggest a more stricter and organized checking in system. No one asked our name or took our vehicle registration etc, there was no paperwork. We didn’t even get out of our vehicle and walk into reception to check in. We were just greeted at the gate and they took our word that we had booked.
There are no local shops to walk to so you’ll need transport. There is a petrol station a short walk down the road but it isn’t very well stocked. There is a bus stop outside the campsite but it is very irregular. We decided to get a bus into Salisbury but the next one wasn’t due for a couple of hours so we gave up and drove. There is a lovely pub called The Boot about a 20 min walk away from the site. We had a meal there and it was top quality but quite expensive.
Stonehenge itself is really worth a visit, but for us, there isn’t much to do in the area unless you have children. We do plan on returning but just for a few days and use it as a base to travel further afield to visit other places of interest in the area.

It was friendly and quiet, we did stay off season.
There is a bus stop right outside the camp, there is so much we would like to see and will be returning for longer, and using the bus 👍

What a lovely site, stayed on Silver HS. Had read mixed reviews before visiting.
On arrival met at the gate and checked in by friendly staff
A gem of a site ideal for us, camping kitchen available, showers with hot water, yes, you pay a £1 but this is used to support the Air Ambulance.
The shower units could be expanded and probably will be but as with most sites the cleanliness starts with us campers, at busy times when the ground is wet they will be dirty.
Dark skies site so ideal for stargazing.
Local walks to both nearby villages and you do walk alongside a lovely small river then past quaint old village houses
Of course Stonehenge is nearby too.
Price per night is on the high end but honestly worth it. Bonus is that this site is open all year and certainly will be returning for some "Crispy Cold Mornings"
So overall an excellent dog friendly site

Likes- The peace and quiet
Dislikes- facilities, old, showers definitely not worth a £1. No hot water in mens facilities for a shave, shower timer too short, ladies shower cubicles need total revamp, all facilities need a good clean or replacing.
Road noise during night was loud. Local pubs the boot was awful, barmaid was asleep when we went in. The Bell served fabulous food but had no atmosphere whatsoever.
You cannot walk to stonehenge.
Unfortunately we would not return to this campsite

Wonderful location, good sized pitch and all staff were really friendly.
Walks round local paths were spectacular though definitely not to Stonehenge, bridleway threw us straight out onto the main road, had to walk two kids along hedgerows with traffic blatting past.
The local pub whilst looking lovely only opens when they feel like it but the farm shop a little further on were very helpful and friendly.

We were really looking forward to staying here over the New Year period having read the reviews but having spent a week there, we would not return.
The site is VERY close to the nightmare that is the A303 and it is difficult to avoid it. There is road noise. Getting out and about is made difficult by the conditions on the A303. It's a nasty right turn towards Stonehenge and you can be waiting at the junction for sometime for a gap in the queue of traffic to let you in. Despite this being a winter bank holiday period, the road was very busy during the day.
The on site shop didn't stock fresh milk and was only open for a couple of hours during the day. That said the young women staff were helpful and polite.
The pitches are large enough but we were through the gated area which was mainly populated by seasonal pitches and it became a car park at times with visitors etc.
I was told by one person who had visited the site four times that normally the shower and toilet facilities are spotless, they were not during our visit.
There was clearly a problem with drainage. Water was nearly up to the rim of the toilet and when it did drain a little overnight, the toilet bowls were left filthy with disgusting marks all around them.
Toilet roll holders were broken and there was never any towels available for hand drying, which again had a broken holder. The drainage affected the showers too with water not draining down the central hole very quickly.
To get dressed it was a case of drying down to the knees, popping underwear on and then dressing outside the shower area by the washing basins because water levels came over the top of my crocs.
The showers were £1 for 8 minutes, which is perfectly adequate and were hot. The shower block itself was warm too although some people were drying their clothes and towels on the radiators for elongated periods of time, which got a little smelly!
There is no hot water in the washing up/kitchen area. You boil a kettle.
The site was quiet during the night.

Overpriced and far from anything by foot or bike, unless you don't mind risking the very fast A303.
The staff never told us about the nearest pub that you can walk to that is on the A303, we attended the quiz night on the Monday, walked along the road to get there, only to find out the next day by chance, that the site has a rear entrance that takes you on a safer walk through the village.
The pitch we paid for was hardstanding through the gate as you approach the site, this seemed to be with the permanent residents.
The site wasn't for us and we wouldn't return

Nice little site. Split into different areas - seasonal, hard standing and a grass field. Friendly welcome and a good little shop.
Pitches spaced quite far apart so you weren’t crowded. Toilet/shower block clean.
Very handy for visiting Stonehenge and also caught the bus outside the site to Salisbury one day and Devizes the next.
The bus stopped to pick us up but when we came back, we rang the bell but the driver sailed past our stop both times.
Would definitely return if in the area.

A fantastic little site. The warden - I wish I knew his name - was so friendly and helpful.
Our booking hadn’t shown on their system but he sorted everything out in no time at all - excellent service.
Site is ideally placed for Stonehenge and Salisbury.
Would definitely recommend here.

A lovely welcome from Ash.
The site was lovely & quiet, ideally situated if you like to travel around. The shop & amenities are excellent.
Showers & toilets are clean & the system in place works excellent. A special thankyou to Ash, Ian & Bev for the tips on where to go.
Really enjoyed our stay & have recommended to friends & family. We will definitely be going back.
Thankyou
