Received an e-mail advising the site was opening, weather forecast was good, booked there and then. Hardstanding pitch with EHU, simple, quick booking process, job done!
Lovely drive through the New Forest, noting the amount of surface water, it's been a wet winter.
Arrived at the site gate, push the bell, very helpful, friendly warden came to open the gate c/w instruction card, pitch number, tag for the MH. Walked with us as we filled with water at the MH Service Point, then onto our pitch. Nice solid concrete base. Grass well cut.
Site and facilities spotless. Able to purchase coffee in reception, using own mugs, reducing waste of cheap throwaway things.
Access directly from the rear of site straight onto cycle ways through the forest to the Oak nn for a well deserved pint. Great cycling on an exploration, don't ask where we went, as that is part of the fun, not knowing!
Our first time here, but won't be the last.

On arrival it was one of the hottest days of the summer. When I booked in March I requested a shady pitch, unfortunately there are not many, around 3. We were put on a concrete slab in the sun right next to the bins. My wife complained and we were moved the next morning. There’s hardly any shade on the whole site.
He showers and toilets were cleaned daily but in the mornings the kids had been in overnight and they were a mess!
A short walk and you are in the forest, deers, ponies all types of wildlife.
There’s a hotel nearby which looked posh it served drinks and food but we didn’t go in.
We visited all the nearby towns and pretty villages. Lymington was lovely with an open air pool. There’s a ferry to IOW but when we priced it up it was expensive.
Lovely area we’ve been to many sites in the New Forest and always find different walks.
This site we won’t be returning because of where it is, a massive field with no shade!

I've just returned home from a 10 night stay in a small(ish) tent, at Long Meadow Campsite, exploring the New Forest and surrounding area on foot and by motorbike.
The staff were extremely warm and welcoming, knowledgeable about the local area and it's wildlife. The Fallow deer provide the entertainment, frequenting the site throughout the day and night.
Lots of birdlife, including Ravens nesting in the tall trees on the boundary.
A track leading from the site takes you straight into the Forest, with a network of footpaths and bridleways inviting exploration of this beutiful area.
The village of Brockenhurst is within a 20 minute walk, and Lyndhurst a little further in the opposite direction, both with a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and other services.
The site is flat, drains well in heavy rain, has excellent facilities, which are regularly cleaned and were not overwhelmed during the very busy weekend period.
Even when full the site did not feel crowded, and the the staff team run the site with an organised and efficient but relaxed and informal air.
I would strongly recommend Long Meadow Campsite for a short stay, or as a base for a longer stay to explore the area more thoroughly.
They lose a star as the fees are on the steeper side, otherwise would be 10/10.

Three nights at Long Meadow campsite in the New Forest.
Great location between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Herd of deer on the grass camping field when we arrived.
Large 9 metre concrete hard standing pitches with gravel on the side for awning, we put our micro-caravan on the gravel with the motor mover.
Outside washing up (can be chilly).
Ensure you have a torch for the evening, not much lighting after dark (this may be by design).
Three shower cubicles and three toilet cubicles per side, not very many for the size of the site if full (in our opinion).
Walks to Lyndhurst (1 hour) and Brockenhurst (30 minutes) direct from the site through the forest.
We walked to Lyndhurst one day and the following day to the railway station at Brockenhurst for the 9 minute trip to Lymington (£5. 20 each return).

We’re all packed and ready to leave this wonderful campsite after a lovely week, despite the weather not always being spring-like!
Our week started with very warm greetings from Angie, her first week in the job. She was really friendly and made us feel very welcome. She gave information about the site and then took us to our pitch.
We had a hard standing pitch with a lovely view over the camping ground where a herd of fallow deer gather regularly during the day and night. I was also lucky enough to get some photos of red deer.
There are walks/cycle paths into the forest straight from the site and you can walk to Brockenhurst in around half an hour.
The toilets/showers were spotless and lovely and warm.
There were three other wardens on-site during our stay…Fiona, Suzie and Ian. All were very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel like a very much valued visitor to the site.
A lovely end to our week here was the wood fired pizzas from Esme’s Tearooms who visited on the Saturday evening. Delicious! All in all, highly recommend Long Meadow…you will not be disappointed!

A great site to visit if you want to be right in the woods and nature.
We had wild pigs visit the site who were very friendly and gave our dog a lot of excitement!
Also great for visiting for other places in New Forest and the coast

Longmeadow is the definition of a great campsite.
We regularly stay here and love it.
- The whole site is flat
- Pitches are well spaced out
- 9x9m pitches so plenty of space to setup camp
- Really friendly and helpful staff
- Toilets are always clean and well kept
- Absolutely silent, no trains, road noise.
- Great views, your practically in the forest.
- Great location to get to everything the new forest has to offer
- Onsite Wood fired Pizzas, really tasty
- Next to the campsite (2 min walk) is a swish super family friendly hotel with great food, drink and a spa.
- Short walk to Brockenhurst
Our only gripe after visiting is better hairdryers or plug points in the toilets to use your own.
We booked our next stay before we left.
Highly recommend

We had a great stay at this site.
Warm welcome from warden,
Good sized pitch with EHU well spaced from next one by fire breaks.
Clean toilets and showers.
Lovely field next to us with a heard of deer who came into our field at night.
Good walking straight into forest with easy access to Brockenhurst.
Will definitely stay again.

Just spent 14 sunny days at this spacious, level site with large pitches for all.
One side where we were has all hard standings with gravel awning areas and all EHU's and the other side has all grass pitches some of which have EHU's.
Approach roads are excellent and the site is easy to find.
On arrival at large closed gates you are asked to ring the bell for the warden to come and admit you and show you to your pitch and point out the shower/toilet blocks and your nearest amenities which are kept spotlessly clean at all times with plenty of hot water and frequent checks by one of the six wardens.
The main gates are kept closed at all times and you have to open and close them every time you leave. They are padlocked at 10. 30pm and opened at 7. 30am so if you get back late you have to leave your car outside and walk in.
This is also a 'quiet' time which is always enforced. Phone signal can be bit hit and miss unless you're on EE but the site Wi-fi is free and works well. No problems with TV signal.
There is direct access from a gate in the site to the beautiful New Forest's walking and cycling trails which go on for miles in all directions. We didn't have our bikes because we've got a 10 year old labrador retriever who wouldn't be able to keep up but we were wishing we did because it is the best place ever for cycling and all flat. Dogs have to be on leads at all times when on site.
There is a converted horse box `Esme's Kitchen' run by a very friendly couple both of whom are chefs which serves fresh tasty wood fired pizzas, chips etc plus ice creams from Thursday to Saturday 4pm to 8pm. The smell of them baking makes them irresistible.
Brockenhurst is a 5 minute drive away where there is a Tesco Express, Co-op, bakery, and many other small shops. Lyndhurst is a quaint town about 15 minutes away and Lymington with its harbour and large Saturday street market about 20 mins away is lovely.
We enjoyed the area and would definitely return to this campsite if returning to the New Forest.

Lovely flat campground, good sized pitched and a good main shower/toilet block and another smaller toilet block.
There are new forest ponies wandering around the woods and fields visible from the campsite and we were lucky enough to be woken early in the morning by a group of deer chomping on the grass about 6ft from our van.
There are woodland walks from the campsite and we should have been able to walk to Brockenhurst, but at the time of our visit the bridge was closed.
