 This was our second visit to Mere Farm, having stayed here for one night this time last year.
We love this site: the ramshackle farm house and chicken coup, the converted grain store toilets (the gents have now moved to 'Tinkle Cottage', a wooden-clad colonial-style portakabin), the beautiful cultivated hedgerows. The facilities are basic but perfectly adequate. There's plenty of room and good flat pitches. Rob, the owner, opened up his breakfast shack on Sunday morning, cooking up freshly laid free range eggs. Honey from the farm is also available.
Recycling facilities are excellent. There's lots of electrical hook-ups for touring caravans. No hot water for washing up.
Local facilities are limited - the only shop is the village post office which is closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
The Burton Arms, a 5 minute walk away, were very welcoming to us and our kids on World Cup quarter final day, and provided good value pub grub. They do cash back - there's no cash machine in the village.
In short, a really enjoyable camping experience on a quirky, no frills site. Rob is very accommodating and friendly, and has plans to improve and extend the facilities to include a cafe and shop. All this within 10 minutes drive of the East Yorkshire coast. We had a great day at the South Beach, Bridlington.

Fantastic site, with a fantastic host, he made us very welcome and let us get on with it, he was there if you needed anything. Very peaceful site( until 6 chavs turned up and were very noisy but that's just our luck, not the campsites fault) If you like nature and birdlife then this is a must, its ideally located for the coastal resorts of Yorkshire and we will be coming back later in the summer for sure (hopefully find that chippy in the next village).

Never done this type of thing before so all I can say is this is a brill site for couples groups or what ever. There is a local pub two minutes walk away that serves good food the breakfast served by the owner (in chefs whites) must be seen to be believed how professional is that. Bacon butty and a coffee for two quid BRILL (when you have a hang over and cant be bothered) Fab little hens and chicks running around the kids will love it

This was our first visit to Mere farm. We all had a great time. Bobby the owner was friendly and always happy to help. They was lots of space for the kids to run around. They was a good dog walk too. They could do we having more then one shower though, also more toilets. Also not to far to the beach, also Chinese and chippy only 1 mile away in next village. We have been to many sites before but we have to say this is one of the bests around, and for only £7 a night you cant go wrong. Also over the weekend Bobby the owner was doing bacon & egg buns which started the day great. We will be going back this year.

Just got back from an enjoyable long weekend at Mere farm also known as Bobby Bees. This campsite is very different, but great if you are wanting a quiet rural break close to the coast. Our children age 4 and 7 thought the extremely free range chickens were great fun and the vast amount of clean open space to play in was brilliant. So much so we will be spending our spare weekends on the farm.
Facilities
Toilets and shower are basic and clean. One negative point the shower in the female toilet was shared even though it was partitioned off. My wife felt it should be female only.
Electric hook up 5amp only but not a problem.
Elsan point on site and fresh water points.
Bobby Bee the owner puts a lot of hardwork into this site and is a really nice man and very helpful.

We really wanted to avoid the crowds on a bank holiday weekend and Mere Farm fitted the bill perfectly. Nice to be greeted with a smiling face and made to feel welcome. Pitches were well spaced and plenty of room to play.
The kids loved Lucy the dog and spent ages chasing/feeding the chickens.
The owner made breakfast sandwiches every morning with the most amazing free range eggs.
Very good value for money at £10 per night for 2 adults and 2 children.
The only drawback as it is quite a rural site are the limited facilities for showering and no hot water for washing up. But that is how it is advertised so if that's your thing then this place is perfect!

We've just returned from a long Bank Holiday weekend at Mere Farm, which has all the makings of a great little site. The village (Burton Fleming) is very pretty, within easy reach of all the local attractions, and was hosting a scarecrow festival as we arrived! The site is on farm land with very free range chickens (exhausted after being chased by children all weekend I should think). The owner sells eggs and honey from the farm house, and appeared to be a very friendly accomodating guy, even setting up a stall selling bacon sandwiches as the weekend went on. Unlike many sites we've visited, there was a comprehensive rubbish recycling system in place, and the toilets were organic. At £7 per tent per night over the bank holiday we were on to a winner.
One moan only, however it was a big issue for us and other campers we spoke to, and that was the bathroom facilities. The ladies toilets were imaginatively housed in an old corn silo and were the most spacious we've ever come across, with room to move around, chairs and heaps of magazines. But they were just not clean!! I've never felt compelled to wear flip flops in a shower before, but I did here. Although there was plenty of hot water for the (one) shower, there was no hot water for handwashing in the toilet or at the washing up point. Pretty crucial when you've been in a tent for days! There were also queues for the limited facilities, my partner reporting finding one at 4am.
If you like quiet basic rural campsites (as we do) then Mere Farm is just about perfect, a little more work on improving the facilities and it'd be one of the best we've visited.

This was the first time me, the wife and 2 kids have been camping, Mere Farm was the ideal place to explore Brid, Scarbough, Whitby and the East Coast. It is tucked away in the little village of Burton Flemming. There was a scarecrow competion on in the village, which lasted a week, nearly every house and cottage had some form of scarecrow outside! Everyone in village who you talked to was friendly and helpful. The camp site was nice and peaceful, and with fresh eggs and honey for sale. This made breakfast even better. A really nice site for the novice camper and seasoned professionals, with all toilet and shower facilities available. Really enjoyed it and hope to revist in the future

This is a fantastic little site. Bobby Bee, the owner, is both helpful and friendly. The delights of Bridlington are just a short drive away while on your doorstep is the friendly village pub. Also available from the site are fresh eggs from what must be the best fed and fre-est range chickens alive (and look out for the pheasant having an identity crisis).
Definately recommended.

This was our first camping trip and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The village is lovely and the owner is really helpful. There are two toilets, one with an electric shower, a chemical waste disposal and washing up facilities.
It provided a great base for our holiday as that's it for the site itself apart from the free range hens which you can feed at any time or the ducks in the duck pond in the village.
The village does boast a friendly pub which does good food and a chinese restaurant next door. There is a village shop which provides just about everything.
We stayed over Bank Holiday weekend and the only drawback was the electric hook-up was reduced to 5amp due to demand and not everyone was able to have electric so book in advance if this is a must.
It's only in its third season this site so developments are afoot but it's a little gem.
