 Have just returned from this site, after cutting short by one night our stay. On the upper field, there was a lack of space, and we appeared to draw the shortest of straws by having pitch no 7, right next to the play area. We have 2 children aged 11 and 9, so they really enjoyed the play area.
The cost of the stay also was quite steep, 27 pounds for 2 adults and 3 children ( friend staying for 1 night), with no on site shop and a shower block that could use a few more cleaning visits per day. What was most disappointing was the fact that this site is in a fantastic part of the country, with easy access by foot to robin hood's bay, and a 5- 10 minute car journey to Whitby.

My first time camping and I choose this site based on the reviews I had read and the information / pics available on the website. My partner and I arrived on Wednesday (before the bank holiday weekend) and there was plenty of space, but by Saturday morning the site was completely full. I would recommend this camp site especially to first time campers, like ourselves.
Good facilities, i.e clean toilets, free hot showers and hairdryers, covered pot washing area, all on a flat field. Just 10 mins walk away is a small shop (open until 7pm), a pub and a butchers/bakers that doubles as a takeaway at night serving pizza's and burgers (I can recommend the pizza's) They also deliver! Can't comment on the laundry facilities that are available as we didn't need to use them.
It was really windy when we arrived and thought the tent was going to take off like a kite, but found fellow campers more than willing to lend a hand.
There is a notice up on the site asking that there is no noise after 11pm and stating that no cars or taxis are allowed on the site after this time. I half expected that peole wouldn't take notice of this, but they did. By 11.30pm there was almost silence - could hear a few people snoring and the odd cow or sheep from the next field, but apart from that it was quiet.
We orginally paid for 3 nights but we liked it so much we stayed for an extra night. Only critism really is that when the site is full there are big queues for the toilets, showers and washing area, but I suppose this is only to be expected so close to the bank holiday.
Overall it was very enjoyable and we would certainly go again.

This is a fantastic site, excellent facilities, good play area for your little rascals.
A 15 Min's walk across public footpaths through a couple of fields. This will take you into the bottom of robin-hoods bay were there is excellent public houses and a fish and chip takeaway.

The staff are friendly and the situation is spot on, there is a but though. We were placed next to the new toilet block which was very noisy, people just had no consideration for others which isnt the campsites fault.
The men's showers were cold some days and it got very busy a weekends, I think they need more facilities if they are going to cram as many people in.
The site is a short walk to Robin hoods bay (which is lovely)but it is for the healthy ish of you.
The play area kept my 6 year old happy
We paid extra as they said our tent was extra large its a vango diablo didnt get any extra space,had a hook up, thought the pitches where small if you wanted electric

First class site for our first camping experience. Communication with and help from site staff excellent, located to a pitch in the "square field" which was perfect, not crowded in and enough room for the children to play without disturbing others. Arrived on a Thurs and the site was busy, certainly filled up by the weekend, which inevitably led to some queues in the shower/toilet block. Maybe another block is needed long term.
Washing up area was ideally situated, again got a little busy but so what if you have to wash up later. Dustbin in this area would be good as small minority of people thought to leave their plate scrapings / rubbish either in the sink on on the drainers.!
Play area good, could always be bigger or another one in the other field area. Ideal location for the beach, Griddler was good value for money, Fylingdales Inn in the village excellent on all counts. Village store has everything you need.
This site is 98%, so close to perfect, this is by far not the fault of the owners, the site is so good everybody goes there which puts the extra demand on the facilities. We shall certainly be back.

I haven't been camping since 2001, and decided that, as my eldest son is now four years old, that I'd see whether he liked it, and after reading a number of reviews, decided this campsite would be a good choice.
The campsite is in an excellent location - a mere ten minute walk into Robin Hoods Bay down a well marked path (steep in places with some stiles and gates).
It is a large campsite, with separate areas for caravans and tents. The facilities are excellent with two large shower and toilet blocks. There is also an "adventure play area" that was proved to be very popular with children of all ages.
The best aspect though was that it was relatively quiet - no noisy neighbours, perhaps helped by the fact that there is no bar on site. It must have been one of the earliest nights I'd had in many months!
The only (slight) criticism that I have is that, due to it's popularity, I had to queue for about 30 minutes at reception to get booked in. However, the manager was very courteous when checking in.
The site doesn't take advance bookings for tents, so I'd advise you to get there early if you want to be assured of a pitch.

We booked this site for a long weekend away and it lived up to our expectations, it is great to use as a base for Whitby,Scarborough and Heartbeat country. It is well signposted from the main A168 road though the road to it is quite steep (1 in 4) and narrow in places so take care on you way down.
The toilets on site are immaculate and although there is no shop there is one only a 5 minute walk away in Fylingthorpe which has a good selection and is also the local post office, there is a catering van that visits the site over weekends that does a good selection of food till around 8.30pm and is also open for breakfast for those who don't want to cook.
There is a lovely walk through to Robin Hoods Bay near to the site which will take you around 10 minutes although it is not really suitable for people with walking difficulties or those needing a motorised buggy.
All in all it is a great place to visit and close to the main attractions in the area.

You need to have the bottle to turn up and hope for space, as they don't take bookings for tents, but it is well worth it if you manage to get on.
Don't leave it to a Saturday morning to go, as you will probably be out of luck. We got there on a Friday evening before 7 and it was okay, but filled up by the end of Friday night.
The tent field is nice and flat with good soft ground and, even though it rained, there was no standing water and the slight bit of mud was only what you should expect pitching on a grassy field - nothing worse and soon dried out the next day when we had glorious weather.
The lack of on-site shop is made up for by the Spar in the village just 5 minutes away. The toilet a shower facilities are excellent. There's a nice play area and a lovely walk down into Robin Hood's Bay with a great chippy as you get into the town.
It's a good walkers' paradise, with plenty of options to choose from. All in all, one we will definitely return to.

Upon arrival dealt with promptly and was then escorted to our pitch in one of the far fields at the other side of the caravan area. In this area there are no set pitches but there is plenty of room. The site was very busy as i think everyone was trying to make the best of a good weather weekend, because of this I think the facilities were not adequate, could do with another shower block and washing up facilities at busy periods, there was usually a queue for washing up and showering.Although all seemed quite clean considering. A tip is to make that extra walk (400 yards), to the block by the reception as this is generally for the electric hook up field which uieter. Ideally placed for the walk into Robin Hoods Bay, and trips into Whitby and Scarborough .Would probably go again but hope it was a little less busy next time.Also the field we were in shut at 12 on the Sunday and people who arrived late on Saturday were put in there and had to up sticks and move to the other field Sunday morning once there was room to move.So if stopping for longer than a couple of days try and pre-book

Excellent campsite, its only a ten minute walk to Robin Hoods Bay. The ground is quiet level. There are about 4 fields and this weekend was really busy so there was a queue for the toilets and showers although if you avoid the busy times there is no problem.
I would recommend for its location however there isn't a sea view. We were next to a group of poeple making quiet a bit of noise well into the night however we have stayed here before so this was a one off and not the owners fault.
We would definitely go back and stay here.

Lovely family farm. Owners very helpful. Easy to find with lovely drive across North Yorkshire moors. No shop on site, village corner shop 5 mins walk. Lovely easy walk to Robin Hoods bay 15 mins. Shower and toilet facilities excellent, clean and spacious with music! Very quiet after 11pm. Childrens play area small but enough for my 9 yr old.
Tents quite close but not on top of each other. Pitches good well cared for and flat.
Robin Hoods bay is beautiful and like a walk back to 1952. Lots of rock pools where our children spent hours catching crabs. Not touristy. Very small and quaint, about 4 -5 shops. Coastline and cliffs are incredible, the Sea Wall made our children laugh cos when the tide is in the water sometimes splashes over the top and its very high. Beautiful views.
Whitby 6 miles away is great. Fish and Chips here are the best I've had and I'm fussy being originally from Yorkshire - home of Fish and Chips.!
If you want to be away from it all its perfect. If you want bigger attractions, Scarborough is near and has lots of tourist attractions. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is close enough and where some of Harry Potter was filmed.
I would recommend it and will be going back.

Well cared for site. Best location for Robin Hoods bay. Tents and caravans totally seperate. Facilities adequate. Price very reasonable. Tents will be packed together at peak times but owner takes care to alter positions and 'air' the ground. This is a working farm and there is some noise from 6am but not intrusive.
Shop 1/2 mile away, well stocked with wide selection of goods, albeit slightly pricy. 'Butty' van at caravan site though currently open reduced hours due to 'local commercial pressure'.
Nearest pub Fylingdale Inn. Worth avoiding unless you enjoy lacklustre food, service and surroundings; 'Dogs and Children must use Family Room'. We walked into Robin Hoods Bay (15 - 20 minutes) and enjoyed good food in genuine surroundings and a host who enjoyed our custom, at Ye Dolphin. Just make sure you get there before 8:30 pm!

Spent a fantastic weekend here. Very helpful and welcoming. Despite the rainy start had two days of sun and great walks from the site into Whitby. The showers and toilets were spotless and spacious. Planning to return very soon with the rest of the family.

We chose this site based on the reviews we had read. It was a lovely site with flat fields and the showers and toilets were clean. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and there was plenty of space but it soon filled up in the evening. It rained all Friday evening and the grass became quite muddy where people were walking but this was probably due to this summer's horrendous rainfall. However, Saturday was hot and sunny and it soon dried out.
It is a nice walk to Robin Hood's Bay, which is a picturesque fishing village. It is possible to walk to the beach through the farmer's fields but because of all the rain we gave it a miss and went the long way round. The beach was nice and there were rock pools with crabs and eels in them which the children loved. There were also donkey rides on the beach.
Whitby is only a 15 minute drive away and has cobbled streets and quaint shops. Whitby Abbey is worth a visit but there is a climb of 199 steps to get to it.
The Great Griddler that is on the site mornings and evenings at weekend was a godsend when it was too wet to cook. The food was nice and reasonably priced and they also have a vegetarian menu.
We would definitely return to this site for the beautiful location, flat fields, friendly staff and clean facilities.

Just stayed one night here. I would go again. Good flat field, friendly and helpful staff. Kids 7 & 3 loved the play ground, but it's not built with under 5's in mind. We stayed on the field with the play area, which was good for the kids.
Toilet blocks large and clean, great hot shower and free. Food available on site to order, but we didn't try it.
Nice walk across the fields to the beach, down hill and muddy in places. Ok for prams but there is a style and a wooden stepped bridge.
Nice meal in the hotel at the top of the cliff, but didn't take food orders until 6pm?
