If, like me and my wife and many people, you enjoy the peace and quiet of camping, then this is not the site for you, or us again for that matter ! We chose this site for it's close proximity to Christchurch and for that reason we thought we could put up with a bit of road and aircraft noise.
The site staff are very friendly and helpful, the warden and barrier system helps you feel as safe as you can feel when camping. It would appear that the cafe service has gone , because we were not told about it when we arrived.
The shower block was nice and clean , however, the showers themselves left a lot to desire in their efficiency and drainage. The water temperature being difficult to regulate and the lack of water pressure meant having to have your nose pressed up to the wall to get under the stream! But the worst thing was that all 4 showers drain into the one drain-hole , so ,and I know this sounds gross! but it's true, if someone "further up the line " spits, snots and/or pees in their shower, YES ! IT HAPPENS !, then it ends up mingling in-between your little tootsies ! Not very desirable.
We also felt the actual look of the site was not very nice. There are a lot of very dirty, unkempt caravans everywhere, and everyone is pitched too close to each other, packed in like sardines. No wonder it is full of wind breakers between each pitch, just to afford a little privacy.
But what is not , I feel , made plain in other reviews is just how close to the airport this site is , nobody states that the planes land in what is actually the field across the road from the site entrance! and that the landing strip lights (the guidance ones that the planes and helicopters fly directly over) are 30 yards away from your tent. So picture the scene , a Boeing 737 , yes , a 737, not just your one seater chipmunk, is virtually over your head 200 feet up, now imagine the sound , beleive me you can't it's 20 times what you can imagine !, now pretend it is 05:45 hours or 00:45 hours, and there you have it ! That's what the aircraft noise is like.
Add to that the incessant noise of the fast major dual carriage way, only over the wall, which in itself is quite loud, and each car and lorry can distinctly be heard at all times of the day and night.
Overall, the site is well situated for Bournemouth, Christchurch and the new forest all by car, has lovely staff, is cramped, has not much grass and is very, very noisy
Very nice campsite! friendly staff upon arrival, quick to locate you to your pitch! The facilities where really good, with the on site shop providing you with all the essentials. Plus you can hire ice packs for 20p a time which we found very usefull being in a tent!
The shower block was very clean, the only downside being that the showers all ran into one so if you where in the one with a drain then you got everyone elses dirty water round your feet!
The location of this campsite is great, with only being 5 miles from bournemouth and right next to christchurch its ideal if you want to go to the beaches or just go siteseeing!
The only downside to the site was we where pitched right at the bottom of the hill right next to the A338 (which seems to happen if you arrive early and have a small tent like us) with only a mound of mud between you and the road. the road never seems to stop being the main link into bournemouth! the other thing that might bother people is your located right next to the airport with constant airtraffic day and night!
Other than the noise the campsite is great! We had a great weekend
What a lovely, lovely site! I am an ex-Bournemouth local and stayed here for a week while visiting family. The first thing you notice is the beautiful floral hanging baskets and pretty reception hut that welcome you. The pitches are either shaded by trees or in the open, and are level. The staff were friendly, and several of them lived on site in their own caravans. My family and I took our dog, a rotweiler called jasper, and even he was welcomed!
The dog walk was fantastic... through brief woodland that opened out to massive open heathland. The airport is accross the road from this site, so if you don't like the noise of jets, then don't come here! However, the dog walk area is the landing strip for the airport and we had such amazing fun standing directly under the planes in the dark during Jasper's evening walk!
There is a cafe that serves very tasty breakfasts, however you like your bacon cooked. There is a small shop on site selling essentials, but not a large choice. There is a big 24 hr tescos extra near by or you can visit the local convenience store down the road. The shower blocks are dated decor, but immaculately clean. There are 4 showers, 4 washrooms and 4-5 toilets. There is a laundry room, washers £2, dryers 20p.
All in all, a A1 campsite that gets 5 stars from my family, and we will go back.
July 2005 This site could have been much better, the noise from the airport was very annoying and the showers were terrible, sort of chugging hot then cold spurts with no pressure. On the plus side the site was very clean and other than the showers, well maintained with large pitces and not too enclosed. Within easy reach of Bournemouth and christchurch but if you are thinking of using a taxi it cost us £25 one way!!
June 2005 This was our first time camping and this was the perfect park for us very well run.Immaculate shower block with everything you could possibly need. Our first night could have been a disaster as soon as we got the tent up the heavens opened and we were in 4 inches of water, the park owner found us another pitch on higher ground which taught us to be choosey and not pitch at the bottom of the slope in future.Traffic noise was quite loud but we soon got used to it.Would definetley come again.
Set in 15 acres of breathtaking countryside, right next door to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, this site offers stunning views of the Chesil Bank, Fleet Lagoon, and Lyme Bay. Welcoming tents, motorhomes and caravans, this family friendly site offers spacious grass pitches with or without electric. For kids there's an outdoor heated swimming pool, 3 acre playing area including slides, swings and more.
Facilities include toilets, showers, washing up, launderette, and WifI. There is an onsite shop and off-licence. The Bar in the Barn at the site serves a delicious food and offers a variety of entertainment, including live music. As well as the attractions of Weymouth's beach and harbour, this is a great base to explore family attractions throughout South and West Dorset. Find out more here
May 2004 A pleasant, clean and well-run site with good facilities. Can be a bit noisy if camping due to the close proximity of the airport and the A338, however we had become used to the noise from the road by the second night and the planes only fly during the day. Ideal for dog-owners as there are plenty of walks in the forest on the other side of the road to the site.
June 2004 Very nice campsite with everything you need on site. Great little cafe and clean and tidy facilites. Noise from the airport is minimal and we did have one morning with no hot water due to a thermostat blowing. Otherwise the best campsite we have visited. Overall a great place for all the family and very well kept.
May 2004 This is a lovely campsite, it is clean, well managed and the facilities are excellent. The only downside was the distance from Bournemouth International Airport and the A338!
May 2004 Returned to Mount Pleasant after nearly ten years away. (Born Again Campers). Found little had changed. Very pretty area with lots of mature trees. The facilities are very good and the toilet / shower blocks kept very clean and tidy. A small cafe is now on site which was very convenient on our first night although the on-site shop is also very well stocked. Our two children throughly enjoyed themselves and thought all the aeroplanes coming in to land at Bournemouth International were brilliant. It wasn't quite so nice at 'stupid' o'clock in the morning but Saturday the last flight in was about 9:30pm and nothing noisy until the following morning. A restful night was had by all. A great site but by no means the most peaceful!!

September 02 Beautiful Campsite, clean and tidy. The showers and toilets were spotless and a little fast food cafe/take away was very useful. Also a small shop on site. Would go again.
