Fantastic little site. Stayed for two nights as visiting family nearby.
Very quiet and near to the town.
All level pitches.
Clean toilet and showers.
The entrance is right on a bend so be careful not to go in the farm opposite!
Could do with a bigger sign to pinpoint the campsite.
We will be returning to visit family more often. A great little find.
Thankyou

I stayed at Bumpsteads Farm and cannot recommended highly enough! We travelled with another couple and had two pitches for two nights to go to Creamfields music festival.
The event was less than half an hours walk from the campsite, about an hour into town if you’re feeling brave as we did due to no taxis due to the event.
Jenny was very helpful throughout booking process and everything at the campsite was clear.
The toilet needed a code and there is wifi which was a lifesaver in the rural setting, Jenny answered the phone within minutes and gave us all the details via text.
Beautiful setting despite the rubbish weather and very spacious could plot our tent wherever we liked.
The campsite was quiet and clean.
Would definitely stay again even just for a cheap weekend away! Thank you again to Jenny and her husband.

A lovely location in the peaceful Essex countryside nestled on the edges of the beautiful Hylands country park, with good clean facilities, electric hook-ups and good WiFi.
The owners have been very helpful, friendly and accommodating, and have changed things around to help us stay longer so Thankyou!
The town and other shops are very close by and easy to reach.
I will certainly be recommending this campsite!

Lovely well kept clean site. Gently sloping down to a very small stream with lots of tree cover from the sun.
Sadly its in a terrible location, a hamlet built on a very sharp bend with no pavements either side of the street. This makes it very dangerous if you plan on going walkies, I wouldn't bother anyway as there are few footpaths around anyway. I found one public footpath stile which was clear 1/2 mile away but the footpath itself was totally overgrown and unusable.
The gardeners chose to cut the grass the day I stayed, so pretty noisy. Young lad was chain smoker, earphone in and throwing his butts in front of mower then picking them up with grass collector, obvious silly move. They also had two adorable brown labradors which were left to wander around on their own, the site and industrial unit. Which meant peeing on the grass often. One had a poop but the young lad was around to see that and cleaned it up. Not a great job cutting grass either.
The real downside was we're stuck in the middle of nowhere and at midnight a drunk decided to start shouting his mouth off, from what seemed to be at the top of the site/industrial unit. Thankfully only lasted ten minutes but somewhat disconcerting especially if there alone. Then at 2:30am a lorry started up at the industrial unit. No access to hylands park which was a great disappointment, the site is well fenced in so you can only leave from the main entrance. The road also goes around the site around 2/3 which means a constant drum of traffic from all sides, even for such a country location.
Overall only any good if you plan on driving in and out of site during your stay. No walkies I'm afraid.
Real shame as its a lovely site and the very nice, trusting owners though you never see them. Cost was £11 pn with electric which seems average these days, but too much for a CL/CS though obviously its lovely we have the opportunity to stay in beautiful locations. Think it would be great for kids.

Site very close to Highlands Park which was great for us. They had EHU and Water and usual chem disposal points but the site wasn't very level - slanted down to a stream, although we were spaced out enough that we could move our vans to whichever angle made us level. Unfortunately, we went after about a month of rain which left the site very boggy our fault as we put our van at the bottom of the site nearest the tiny stream as there were lovely trees to shade our two dogs. My son and dogs loved exploring the site, esp the stream. It's a shame that most of England just couldn't seem to get rid of the surface water. So I am looking forward to going back when I didn't have to wear wellies to leave the van. The water taps were nice and high so great if you're like me and have a bad back. There is a small industrial site next door which you occasionally hear them banging around. Never saw the owners but you just put the money through a letterbox. Shame the site in on a bend which, if you miss it, it's miles before you can turn your van around. Def going back though. Close to family and Highlands park.

Found this site had very long grass and was very very boggy, which made it very difficult to get of the site, we had to call the breakdown company to get us out, we were not the only ones that had this problem.
We did not see the owners the whole time we where there. Had to post the money in a post box.
The only reason we stayed was we had to help my mother out and this site is round the corner from her.
The water taps are very high up.
