This was our first visit to this site, and can confidently say that it will definitely be our last. On arrival we found no reception to speak of other than a sign in a flower bed with some telephone numbers on it. We called the numbers several times only to reach an automated voice mail/answer phone that could have been for any one as the message gave no indication that we were calling the site owner/manager.

Looking at the first field there seemed to be no spaces for us to pitch our tent as it was full of caravans and motor homes, all pitched “very close” together. There was no indication or direction as to where “campers” where to go. On driving up the first field we saw a gate to a second field so drove up the hardcore road/track through the gate into the second field. Here we found more motorhomes and one or two tents along with several binbags of rubbish.

We chose where we wanted to pitch the tent and got set up. I personally feel that this field has been set up with little thought, other than to make money, as the hook ups were the type you would find on a building site and powered by a generator in the next field, all connected via a net work of extension leads. This generator failed twice during our stay leaving us without power.

There is a massive comparison between the field where all the caravans were pitched and the field we where in. The caravan field was very well kept and the grass was practically manicured, where the field we had to use had obviously been used for cattle grazing as there was dried bits of cow pat every were. The field was not mowed or well kept like the first field, apart from two strips that where cut along two edges on the Friday – obviously to make way for the influx of users over the forth coming weekend.

We initially booked for ten nights but only stayed for eight. We left purely because of the state of the field as it was obviously not fit to camp on after the rains. The hard core track of the first field did not extend to the second, this quickly turned into a quagmire making driving very difficult especially as the entrance to the second field was on an incline. This made driving quite hazardous entering and leaving the field, as well as this driving across the field was an event in itself as the car would veer from left to right across the water logged ground.

We decided to leave after eight nights as there was a break in the weather and we wanted to get the tent packed away while dry. But this was not to be as when standing on the field we were now ankle deep in muddy water, so the tent came home wet and muddy.

With a little care and attention this site has a lot going for it, but at the moment it fails on too many points to make me want to come back. I fully understand that a business is to make money. But £25 per night to pitch in a un kept water logged field with no drainage and electric hook ups from a building site, is in my eyes not value for money. Its not all about the bottom line.

The toilet blocks where adequate with free hot showers and washing facilities, kept very clean buy an attendant. We did not use the laundry facilities but they seemed adequate enough. The dish wash facility was an open air sink with a hot water supply but nothing special.

Been here before so know the site facilities are good. None due to cv19 at the moment.

£27 for one night with ehu on a rough hardstanding seemed a bit expensive.

Please ignore child friendliness score as we had no children with us so don't know

Found this campsite quite by accident after having booked at another 'farm site' that we never ever found, despite ringing the owner for some help. And were literally driving around up and down some very narrow roads, we were later told by other campers who had experienced the same problem that the site was miles from anywhere on top of a hill! We booked one night here and eventually stayed three.

The facilities were upgraded last year and now hosts brand new shower blocks and a wash-up area. There are new roads around the site and several hard standings for vans.

We enjoyed our time here and Newquay was within walking distance with lots of bars, restaurants and shops of all descriptions. The Lime Crab fish and chip restaurant was excellent and we visited twice.

We walked the length of the beach on the last day as the weather turned very misty but it was still interesting to do.

This was our 'real find' on a nine week trip from Landsend to John o Groats and we have put this site and location on our 'to do again' list.

Great location, but that's where it ends really. No reception when you arrive, and no instructions where to set up. Choose where you want to pitch then they come around for the money. Not too flat either so not brilliant for tents.

The toilets are disgusting and not enough of them for the amount of pitches. The showers are in a separate part of the site across the lane, but not in a hurry to check them out either.

With the amount of sites dotted around the area it is hard to comprehend why they have their facilities in this terrible state. Wont be coming back.

Fantastic sea views from campsite, brilliant place to stay as a base to walk the Cardigan Bay Coastal footpath. Only five min. Walk to sandy beach and food.

Really friendly welcome, easy access for motorhome.

Site close to New Quey 10 min walk, nice position (first couple of lines about cover's it).

Booked for 2 nights, site nice & quiet when we stopped, not flat but leveled up with ramps, from top of field good view over the bay.

Now we get to the negatives already !

Quite a large sloping field, no actual security, did see some security cameras on static side of site on other side of road, there are no barrier / security on to site, warden site sort of set out in a fenced off area (actually drove past without realising) - set up before wife actually went to find out where to pay, she paid for 2 nights £32 as booked even though the wardens did not know we had booked ?.

The fresh water points in hedge rows, over grown with brambles (some nice blackberries though), the only toilet / shower block amenities were in a log covered porta cabin at the bottom of the field near the entrance (this was actually filthy & dismal / in my words unhealthy & made us feel sick) we only visited it once to check it out, we were both in the same opinion we were not going to use the shower / toilet even though we had issues with hot water/ heating in MH, we then decided to leave this site following morning even though we had paid for 2 nights which gave the owner £16 for the following night.

I cannot believe with all the competition in this area that this site is so behind the time's when people want good amenities when they are away !

I think enough said

May be a little investment will help

P. S you got an £16 out of us but never again

I love this site, ok so its basic with no pool or club, but its so near to New Quay itself with fab beach and great for swimming with the kids. Price is now £16. 00 a night

The showers were free when we were there. Toilets were spotless in the morning so only time they would get dirty was if the campers/caravaners left them that way. Dog Friendly site with the Penrhiwllan pub outside. Fab food there.

Can't wait to go back down next month.

Location great. 5 to 10 minutes walk into the lovely harbour town of new quay. Steep walk back up. There is a pub down the lane from the campsite. The facilities on the site though were pretty dire.

No reception as such, I think you go up to the house but we weren't really sure what to do, people just seem to set up their tent and the owner comes round at some point to take your money. The toilet block was just okay, the showers were very grotty.

They are free now for tents and tourers, I believe they charged at one time. We paid £14 a night for two of us in a tent, it should have been less than that if you price by the facilities, but I think you are paying for the location.

Went camping for 6 days and had such a wonderful time I've bought a caravan and sited it there. Had to see the warden when first arrived who was situated in fenced of area on camping field, he was very friendly and helpful. The farmer his wife and son are always available by telephone if you have any problems.

Dogs are allowed on the camp site but must be kept on leads. Toilets are available on camping field, the toilet roll is on wall as you go in so must remember to grab some or take your own and they have constant hot water.

Showers and laundrette were also available on static field which is only 2 min walk away, The showers were tokens but was changed to free whilst I was there camping so was very happy about that.

Water and electric points are situated all around the field so had no problems there apart from when water being used somewhere else flow can stop but not for long so could always get fresh water.

There is a pub at the end of the road, very friendly/welcoming place that has activities such as groups, bingo etc during peak season and the site is only 5/10 min walk from main village and that is beautiful. There are Chip shops, ice cream parlor, pasty shop, and pizza takeaway (which is a must try).

There are two beaches one small one you can take your dogs on and a big one for people, children and during the 6 week summer holiday there are activities on the beach for the children.

 Not For tents.

Poor site for campers. On arrival no clue where to go. Eventually found owner. 'Kindly' reduced fee to £10 coz on my own. No toilet paper at all, even checked ladies.

Good for New Quay, 10 min walk. Pub nearby ok.

Really a £5 per night semi rough site.

Avoid.
