Decided to stay on this site last minute as we had just had 3 nights away near Bath and wanted to continue our camping trip as the weather was looking so promising. Phoned the campsite at 10. 30am and arrived by 2pm. Owners were lovely, lady came straight out to welcome us, showed us to our pitch and checked the mains cable was there. Campsite is a big field right next to the farm itself and is very open giving you some lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Campers were pitched in a circle round the outskirts of the field with hardstanding pitches next to the road as you drove in. Facilities 2 toilets and 2 showers were clean and tidy however showers are 50p to use if you want hot water and whilst there is a washing up area this only had cold water. As a certified site we had expected to see only 5 caravans/motorhomes but there was at least 7 on site at all times and with a good number of tents we did feel at times that the site was beginning to feel a little crowded and on our second night we did have quiet of bit of noise as we were beginning to bed down! A nice site in good location but as a CS we thought it was a little big for us!
My family have been camping here for many years. There is always a warm welcome. The site is very small and tucked away in a peaceful setting. Ideal for young children as you can keep them in sight. The facilities are always clean. The site is ideally situated for Glastonbury and Wells and convenient for main routes to Bath, Longleat and other attractions. Very beautiful, not miles of concrete and serried rows of tents or caravans, there is a personal touch. Toilets and showers, this is a campsite for people who camp, not those wanting just like home but on wheels. There are chickens and ducks ( plus cows) so dogs must be well trained and children well behaved towards animals.
This is a really lovely campsite a couple of miles outside Wells. It is well maintained with electric hook ups, some hard standing and lots of well mown grass. It is part of a working farm and together with the cows in nearby fields there are some hens and ducks which our children loved feeding (they eat all the food waste!) The owner (Barbara) is really friendly and happy to chat and willing to help.
There are two showers, two toilets and a washing up sink, but as it is a small site we never had to wait. The showers take 50ps and give you about 5-6 minutes of hot water. They are well maintained and always clean. One point to note about the dish wash area is that there is only cold water, but we boiled a kettle and it wasn't a problem. There was plenty of space and you could usually take your pick of pitches even in August.
This is a quiet site so there are no kids clubs, bars takeaways etc, but they are the type that we like. It was really good value at £14 per night with EHU.
There is a lot to do in the surrounding area with Wells, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, lots of National Trust sites and further afield Bristol and Bath. We discovered a fantastic interactive science museum in Bristol (@Bristol) which the children loved (they didn't want to leave!) and there is also Noah's Ark Farm Park Zoo which was another good day out. Wells has a market on Saturday and Wednesday and there are lots of nice restaurants, coffee shops and small shops.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to go back again and have already recommended to friends.
We've meant to stay here for some time as we have cycled past & it looked lovely - small, well maintained & in a beautiful part of the world. Finally managed to get ourselves organised & booked for three nights with EHU.
The site is on a working farm so we were happy to pitch up & settle up later - the owner very welcoming when I paid later, and keen to know that we were all ok.
The site has two showers - 50p, but plenty of hot water to get the job done, and there are two unisex toilets - everything spotlessly clean with bud vases of fresh flowers in the 'loos. Washing up sink also available.
Water available to fill up, chemical toilet disposal easy to find & use - again all lovely & clean.
The site was very well maintained, mown grass & neat hard standing with planters full of colour.
There is so much to do in the area that we didn't spend much time on the site, but the lane that runs alongside was a quick & quiet route into Wells - about 20mins but we were not rushing & we were towing a dog! Cycled to the Westhay nature reserve & spent a beautiful day watching wonderful wildlife - should have taken a picnic! Managed to fit in a beer at The Sheppey Inn - great beer, didn't get chance to try the food due to our timings, no fault of the pub, and a cup of tea & cake at the Fenny Castle tearooms - they also do bike hire. Final morning packed up & headed to Glastonbury - 10mins drive, quick walk up the Tor & then into 100 Monkeys for a delicious lunch.
I can't wait to go back to this lovely site in a wonderful location. I can't comment on child friendliness as we didn't pack one, but with plenty of space & fresh air in the middle of the countryside, I would think parents & children would sleep well :)
Wonderful, friendly, welcome from Barbara and family, 5 perfect hard standings with hook up and a good size level field for tents.
2 Loos and 2 showers, all kept spotless.
A lovely working farm in a great location.
3 Pubs in Wookey village but do check hours. If you want to walk to Wells it's 2 miles, level, with a choice of pavement alongside the main road or quite lanes.
Free range hens will keep you amused and eggs can be bought at the farm house, just wonderful.
Set in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Mendip Hills. There are 90 grass and hardstanding pitches some with hookup, for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry room and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Non members are welcome to book!
You can walk to the village of Priddy where you`ll find a popular pub serving food and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced food. There are many attractions in this area of Somerset and the south west including Bath and Weston-super-Mare, and the site is ideally located, midway between Cheddar Gorge and Wells. Just returned from a week based at this camp site, the toilets, showers and site are kept immaculate. The kids loved watching the cows, come down for milking, chickens and ducks running loose and we even got to see deer in the field next to us. The owner is one of heavens angels, and rescued us with a flask of hot water when our gas packed up, she is a lovely lady who would do anything to help and make your stay really welcoming, I would highly recommend this site to everyone and cant wait to book up again. Thank you Barbara you are a star x
Pine Tree Farm is a wonderful small CS site, set on the Somerset levels under the Mendip Hills with views to Glastonbury Tor. It is run by a family who are very friendly and who pride themselves on pleasing their customers and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They are happy to freeze freezer blocks and even dry wet clothing when are clothes got wet.
Pets are welcome, obviously they need to kept on a lead and cleaned up after on site, but there are walks in every direction for them. We have stayed there on quite a few occasions ranging from a couple of nights to a week in length, the most recent being September 2012 and have already booked to return this year. The toilets and showers are kept spotlessly clean and the showers are in individual rooms with a good sized shower, wash basin and plenty of room to get changed. There is also a washing up area and chemical disposal point. The site is very well kept with wonderfully flat pitches, and as well as hardstandings and electric hook-ups there is plenty of flat grass for tents. There are free range chickens and ducks on the site and the eggs can be purchased from the farm. These are the best eggs I have ever tasted.
The site is well positioned for Bristol, Bath and Taunton as well as Wells, Glastonbury, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge. Wells is less than 2 miles away, down a quiet lane. It is a historic city and as well as having the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace has a pleasant shopping area with 2 farmers markets a week in the Market Square plus Tescos, Morrisons, Co-op and Lidls. Clarks Shopping Outlet Village is only 15 mins drive too. It is an ideal base if you enjoy walking and cycling as there is a tearooms half a mile from the camp site which offers breakfasts, lunches and cream teas and also offers bicycles for hire and a tennis court. Wookey Village is within walking distance with 3 good pubs, two of which have a skittles alley and another does superb food.
This is site is extremely good value for money, and for us always results in a good break. We don't think anyone will be disappointed staying here and have recommended it to everyone we know with a caravan / motorhome / trailer tent or tent.
