My parents brought us here for a holiday in 1960, apart from tents there were caravans then. I have been camping at this site off and on ever since. The site offers tranquillity, plenty of room and an atmosphere that draws you back again and again.
I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful even at 07:00 hrs in the morning thanks to an early ferry.
There have been improvements over this time and yes the old shower block could do with modernising but it is adequate for its purpose.
The shop holds the basics where you can get your freezer blocks frozen but then there’s a supermarket just up the road for bigger items if required.
The Wishing Well pub attached to the site offers good food at reasonable prices and a good play area for the children which stops at 22. 00hrs in the evenings.
The site is clean and is priced just right. The beach is a short walk down country lanes where you can walk all the way to Ryde along the seafront passing Puckpool park to sandy beaches.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Pondwell and we loved every minute of it. The weather wasn't even that great but because of the great location it really didn't matter.
The kids (aged 6 & 11) had an absolute ball, coming and going as they pleased in total safety, also the pub on site was pretty good as well with a nice playground just outside.
I notice a lot of people have picked on the toilet block for criticism but to be honest they are what they are, they are clean and and had hot water, what else do you want from a campsite toilet/shower facility
Overall we will be returning and will recommend the site to everyone.

Just back from a mountain biking weekend, and stayed at Pondwell, with four friends staying in a campervan, tents and a folding caravan all on two electric pitches. We had no trouble booking as we are all in our early 40s.
The site is large and in a good condition overall, however the toilet block is very dated and wasn't cleaned all over the weekend. In fairness the site wasn't busy (only a handful of campers etc) but still.
We only saw two staff all the time we were there and the shop/reception was closed as well, we had to phone them just to get booked in! However they did let us pick our choice of pitch, and never bothered us to leave on time,(we stayed till gone 2pm).
The pub is good and prices seemed ok.
Overall a nice site, could do with updating and some staff on hand for the shop and cleaning but I think we will go again.

We enjoyed our fortnight's stay on this campsite made more enjoyable by good weather. We had an electric hook up for our tent and where we were sited the ground was flat. Some of the pitches were on an incline but this seemed to be where tents were pitched without electric.
The entrance to this site is on a very tight turn adjacent to the Wishing Well pub and those towing large units could encounter difficulties.
The hot water could be a bit hit and miss particularly in the mornings, on three occasions I couldn't have a shower due to cold water only. Other than that we found this site to be friendly and welcoming and would recommend it to other folk.

We spent a week at this site during the school holidays - it was excellent value. The site was very spacious and never felt too busy.
The toilets were fairly dated but kept very clean and the showers were nice and hot. Many campers we met had been coming here every year for up to 30 years! We could understand why as the site was very friendly and only a 5 minute walk down to the sea.
Lots of things to do on the Island too and all easily accessible from this location. We arrived early on our first day and pitching early was no problem. Recommended for families. The pub at the top of the site was a bonus too.

We spent 3 nights at this site & although we hadn't booked electric hook up due to none being available at the time of booking, the site had recently had a cancellation & we were offered this on our arrival. This was a huge blessing to re-charge the Nintendos!
The site is well maintained with good facilities which were clean. It is a short walk to Seaview, which has a few nice shops, a cafe & the Seaview Hotel.
The Flamingo & Wildlife Encounter 5 minutes walk away is a MUST for a family day out.
The beach is great for rock-pooling.
Our only complaint was being woken up at 3am by our neighbours - thankfully they only stayed 1 night.
The pitch was in the bottom corner of the site & well sheltered from the wind.
The Wishing Well pub at the front of the site serves good reasonably priced food.
We would certainly re-visit this site & have already recommended it to friends.

What a lovely site. After reading campermummoaners review I thought that maybe I had stayed at a different campsite to her. No it was the same one and the 'scooter fans' were very well behaved and caused no problems at all.
The lack of marked pitches is standard on most campsites. Buy a motorhome or book onto Haven style sites if you want your little boundary line.
I am looking forward to returning next August bank holiday and enjoying all the lovely scooters on the island and a proper campsite minus silly little boundary lines.

A good location to explore the pretty Seaview area and north IOW. From this site you can stroll down to the seafront, safe for swimming and a really good cafe / bar at Seaview 10 mins walk.
We had paid for 2 nights, planning to stay more but after the first night, unannounced they shut one of the 2 toilet blocks (due I suppose to lack of visitors) which meant a long hike in the pitch black for a pee, shower etc.
There was a nice children's play area in the adjoining pub, good for drinks but not so good for food for us, it seemed very pricey for what was on offer. We felt this site could do with a bit of tlc its a shame as the location and potential is good.

We have just had a week camping at this site including the Bank Holiday weekend. What we did not realise is that Ryde hosts a huge scooter rally over the Bank Holiday. This meant that the site was very busy with scooter fans. We were surprised about this as the brochure clearly states that they do not take them.
There are no marked pitches (unless you have hook-up)so you are relying on other campers being sensible about where they pitch their tent. It did get very crowded on the flatter lower part of the site.
There is a night warden to sort out any problems in the evening and he did deal with some of the noisy groups.
The site has slightly older toilet and shower facilities but they were always clean with plentiful hot water. There is a small shop in the reception where you can get your ice packs frozen for 20p.
We eat at the Wishing Well pub at the top of the site which served real ale and large meals.
We would come to this site again but would recommend families to avoid the weeks either side of the Bank Holiday if you want a quieter time.

Lovely site! We stayed 4 nights in our 5 berth tent and it's our favourite site on the Island so far. We had such a cheap ferry we arrived very early, and there was no problem with letting us pitch early as we didn't have an electric pitch (ditto for checking out). We were near the kids play area behind the pub which didn't disturb us at all but we could keep an eye on our 2 kids. We didn't use the pub for food but it looks fine, curry night on Monday sounded tempting. There is another play area at the bottom of the field which we used only on the way to the sea. The pitches are a bit slopey - but we had a flat-ish part which was fine. It's quite open so when we packed away it was very blowy (in fact it snapped our tent pole!) but maybe we should have gone closer to the fence. The shop has basic provisions and papers. The showers/loos as mentioned are old fashioned but fine, except the ladies showers were scalding hot the first 2 nights so check before undressing! there are also 2 baths in the ladies (not sure about the gents) which was fab for bathing the kids. The sea is about 5-10 mins way and is a nice walk. We also went into Ryde which was a nice walk, we stopped at Puckpool Park on the way (about 10 mins) for a (lovely) coffee, then at Appley Tower for a look about, onto the (much sandier)beach at Ryde. The swan pedalo in Ryde was kitsch and fun and after a nice lunch out we got the Dotto back to Puckpool Park and had a great pizza there.
So, campsite wise it was lovely - the atmosphere was nice and very relaxed, and no noise. I'd recommend it!
