This is a very quiet and basic site, which is just what we were looking for. There's no pub, no games rooms and no frills! The owner was extremely helpful, even offering to lend us a hook-up cable when ours didn't reach.
The site was kept very clean and tidy and the grass well cut - just right for the children to play on.
Toilets and showers were very clean, fresh and tidy and kept well stocked. The showers (20p) seem to go on forever!
There is a small shop on site that stocks essentials, but there is a good range of large supermarkets close by for everything else.
The site is a good base for exploring the local area - Blackpool, Lancaster, the Lake District for example. The beach is fairly close by, but due to the very narrow, windy road, I would suggest going by car - go out of the campsite and turn left. You'll think that you're heading off into the middle of nowhere, but keep going for about a mile, and you get to Morecambe Sands.
On the whole, I would recommend this site for those who want to get away to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
First ever camping experience and great site for first timers. The lady in the shop was helpful and shown us to the pitch. It is just a large field surrounded by a few statics. We were only one of three tents there, so was very quiet. The showers (20p) were very clean and went on forever, in fact myself and my daughter used it between us. Hairdryer provided (10p) which gave you 10 mins. The toilet area was kept very clean and there was plenty of access to fresh water. The site seams to be in the middle of no-where which was tricky trying to walk our dog as the lanes are very narrow with no paths. Would return again.
Melbreak is just a field for tents, with a few static caravans, surrounding it. There is a shop that sells the basics. A very clean toilet and shower block (only 2 showers in both the ladies and the mens, that takes 20p) Only 1 washing up sink and a laundry room with a washer, a drier and an iron. It cost me £10 per night for the tent (2 adults and 4 kids). 1/2 a mile to a pub and 3 1/2 miles to Morecambe, if you take young kids, be sure to go to Happy Mount Park, with their swimming stuff, as there is a superb aqua park. Very quiet from 10-30pm (not very noisy before!). Overall, I really enjoyed it, and it is a site I will definately be returning to.
We visited this sight over the Easter bank holiday weekend us in our caravan my brother in his tent and my friend in her tent. This is a really well run and friendly site. There is a small shop and they sell gas. The owner is very helpful. This is the second time we have visited this site it is cheep at £11 a night for a caravan all season (no daft price increases just coz it is bank hol or the kids are of school).
The toilets are always clean and the showers are good and cost 20p which seems to last forever. There is also a hair dryer at only 10p for 10mins. There are facilities for washing up and a laundry too. The kids really enjoy running about this site and the beach is about 1.5 miles away - there is a good shop there. Its ideal for Morecambe. We would go again
