Northcommon Farm site is a quiet, peaceful location with limited facilities but everything you need for a perfect break.
It's quirky but that's exactly why we loved it so much! No shop, bar, amusements, just basic facilities that are clean and well-maintained.
We had a large, level pitch with electric hook-up and our own water tap. There are only 5 pitches for caravan / camper van / trailer tents and room for some small tents so you never feel cramped or crowded in.
I would recommend this site for people who don't want high-speed frantic holidays - although Bunns Leisure site is within walking distance with plenty of entertainment (clubs, swimming pool, fun-fair etc) for adults and children should you feel the need!
We loved Northcommon Farm and will certainly return there very soon.
We spent 5 days at this site. We were greeted on arrival, escorted to our pitch and then shown the facilities. We had an electric pitch in the tent field, with our own water tap and waste water drain. There is one toilet with washbasin & shower for ladies and one for men close to the camping fields, and then a bit further along a railway carriage with 2 extra large rooms at each end containing further facilities. In between these there was a sink for washing up and another for clothes washing. On site also is a cold water sink which I used for rinsing recyclables - bins provided for this. A little gypsy carriage contained some books and magazines and information on the local area. There are some good walks around, one alongside fields, going through the Warners holiday complex and into town where there are 3 supermarkets, Boots & LLoyds pharmacy and small local shops. The beaches (West & East) are pebbly but sandy when the tide is out. We found two play parks for our daughter and a great enclosed area especially for dogs.
As we went during the week it was fairly quiet to start with but started to fill up for the weekend. We found it very relaxing and look forward to going again.
This was our first camping trip. Not seasoned campers so will try to be as objective and informative as possible.
Went with 2 other families, so 3 pitches in total. £11 per pitch per night with no hook up, but hook ups are available.
Like the name suggests this campsite is located on a farm, though it's not a working farm. All they have is a few horses and some goats. Near Selsey, probably about 25 min walk, or 5 min by car if like us!
Reservation - Spoke to Jill, lovely lady. Earliest you can arrive is 2pm. Have to leave by 12pm.
Arrival - No problems finding the campsite. Forgot the chaps name but the owner came out to greet us and gave us a little tour. Payment was required on arrival, though I'm sure this is normal.
The farm was signed as fully booked, and at a guess I'd say there was approx 50 people there.
Amenities - Now given that I got an early shower each morning, I didn't get caught in any queues. They have 4 toilets and 4 showers, 2 of each for male and female.
Word for word, on a website they say 'facilities better than you would expect on a 5 van site'. Now I don't know about that, cos seasoned campers we're not. I found the facilities basic but served their purpose. We did have 1 or 2 grumbles of cold water in my party.
No entertainment for the kids apart from stroking the horses.
Sleep - Part of the campsite is very close to a small country lane, but not much traffic at all.
