We found this a really great site. Its basic, but has everything you need. Spacious pitches, a play ground just around the corner and an outdoor swimming pool on its doorstep.
The only downside is it has nobody on site as it is council run, so if you have a problem your stuck with it.
The toilet were clean and not too old, there is a code to get in for security.
We have two small children, so made sure we got a pitch away from the river as there is no fence.
The site only has about 20 pitches, so very small, but quiet.

The most beautiful setting next to the river! (young families take note - it really is right next to the river so you may want to keep extra tabs on children who aren't strong swimmers).
Facilities are basic but good - water is very hot for washing up, and showers and toilets relatively clean considering there is no warden on site.
The young staff running the pool and campsite were friendly and approachable though, when the office was open. We visited midweek and it was pretty quiet but it did get busier towards the weekend. The outdoor pool is lovely (small but perfectly formed!) but does get busy in good weather.
Over the bridge is a reasonable pub, and the entire town is really pretty and full of interesting independent shops and cafes - plus a Waitrose within walking distance meant we hardly used our car!
The sight and sound of helicopters from nearby RAF Benson kept my eldest son enthralled but may upset some who want total peace and quiet. The pitches are lovely and flat, and the electric hookup is cheap.
Overall this site was just what we wanted and we'd love to go back soon. The young staff running the pool and campsite were friendly and approachable too.

This is exactly what it says in the title - by the riverside. In fact some children used a rope swing out over the Thames!
All pitches have hook-ups although we did not need one but found ourselves obliged to pitch right next to the hook-up sockets which meant we had the inconvenience of light shining through our tent wall all night. In the end I put a bag over it in order to try and preserve some darkness!
The toilet and shower block had adequate hot water with keycode entry. However there is no on site warden so cleaning and replenishment of toilet paper was irregular
The pool is available only between 11 and 6 and was a crowded open air small pool popular with local children so definitely not for serious swimmers.
Entire site was short grass although a fair amount of litter - not necessarily the campers as it could have come from the nearby pool or boat users who share the shower facilities.
Be warned there is no chemical toilet disposal so some campervan folks emptied in the normal loos - very naughty!

Good site well situated close to the town of Wallingford. Lovely river walks. Lots of pubs, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Site staff very helpful and welcoming. Pitches adequate size. Quite noisy but it was school holiday time so that was to be expected. Dogs made welcome. Shower and toilet facilities looked clean and tidy. Site was very crowded because of school holidays and we would like to visit again at a quieter time of year. Overall good site - we will visit again.
