Fantastic little campsite in the foothills of the Beacons and close to Dan Yr Ogof showcases.

Plenty of choices available with a variety of hard and soft standings. Plenty of electricity hook ups available.

The showers and toilets were immaculate and very well maintained throughout the stay. The showers are excellent.

There was a general area for washing dishes with a washing machine available, the only thing missing is facilities to empty a Chemical toilet, but this doesn't detract from the stay at all.

The manager Martin is extremely friendly and very helpful.

If you are travelling with children or pets this appears to be a safe, open friendly site and I would be very happy to bring any here.

The sites costs are reasonable with great value for money.

Great site, very impressed, we will be back!

We had a fantastic Welcome from Martin who is the brother of the site owner. He couldn't do enough for us. We had a cold beer together and chatted for ages.

The site is very clean and quiet and the toilets and showers are lovely and clean.

I would definitely recommend this sited will be staying there again.

A good campsite with some areas you can be shielded by trees from the sun if you have dogs or young children. Not a huge campsite which I was glad of.

Toilets and showers were very clean and an area to wash your dishes.

The Ancient Briton pub is right in front of the campsite and you drive through its car park to get to the campsite.

There is a little shop in walking distance further down the road to your right as leaving the camp and to the left a short drive away is Dan Yr Ogof caves.

Reception was very friendly and helpful.

Will be returning 10/10 from me.

The location is great and the hospitality at the pub was great when we arrived. The food here is fantastic too.

However

The Site was very expensive for what you get. The rules are not followed. The site was busy; groups of families drinking all day, which resulted in police presence due to the fact someone was glassed in the face on the Saturday night. Awful people staying there.

Dogs were not kept on leads and so wander onto your patch (this upset my Rotti constantly). Kids running every where, dog poo not picked up and rubbish left around so it blows everywhere.

There is only ONE water pipe for the whole site and even though the showers are warm, the toilet block is smelly and needs a damn good clean.

I would not stay here again as neither I nor my husband or the dogs could relax at all but I would visit the pub as the food was great.

The site is easy to find and there was hardly anyone there when I arrived on a Sunday evening: about seven caravans and one car tent, and it didn't change much over the few days I was there, though Friday and Saturday nights might well be different.

The toilet and shower building needs a card for entry, which one gets when you register, so you can't easily check them out before choosing the site, but the men's block at least is new and clean. It has three each of urinal, toilet and shower cubicle, two hand basins, and soap dispensers and an electric hand drier.

The water pressure on the sink taps is so high that the push button arrangement on the taps can easily result in you being soaked, and the taps shut off as soon as you release the buttons. But the showers are free, hot, and a single press of the button lasts a decent amount of time. There was only one sink for washing up, but it looked like a second one was planned. I had no problems at all with the facilities given how few people there were there.

One registers at the pub. Tents go on the central area surrounded by the circular vehicle track, and the owners have no problem with cars being parked on the grass. The cost was £7 per night for me, car and tent.

A chap with a small caravan and a TV seemed to think that the 'no noise after 11pm' rule didn't apply to him. I take earplugs with me to deal with this kind of problem, but I can see that the lack of noise supervision could well be an issue for others.

There is a Spar about five minutes' walk away. It isn't large but is useful, with a small selection of sandwiches and some milk, though they'd largely run out one time I went there.

Mobile phone signal is better than the nearby sites further north up the road (fairly strong signal on O2, reasonable signal on Three and reasonable to strong signal on EE).

Overall, it was pretty good, and I'd certainly choose to stay there again if I were in the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights 23rd and 24th June 2018. First the good points, The site is very well situated, and being close to a pub has to be good.

However the site overall needs a lot of TLC. I thought the toilet block needed a deep clean in and out. I don't think they were cleaned at all over the weekend. Same for the showers.

When we arrived the 1330 the site was over half full and a lot of jollity in full swing. This went on till about 1 O'clock in the morning. The noise got louder as more booze was consumed.

I'm not a prude or snob. Like a few beers myself, but show some self control or self discipline. Think of others your enjoyment can be other peoples misery.

Some kind of rules need to be implemented, re noise and unsupervised kids.

It could be a brilliant place to stay.

I will not be returning I am sorry to say, because it is a beautiful location.

Well kept site, large pitches and pleasant location, clean well kept facilities and a pub on the door step. Meals were very good, booking a table advised.

Central for many walks and local attractions in the Brecon Beacons. Will definitely be going back.

What a find!, having not been to the Ancient Briton for a number of years it was great to find that they now have a touring park, we enjoyed so much the first time we'll certainly be back more often.

We booked a hard standing electric pitch for £19 peak season (non electric is £14) on arrival we were old to set up then come and pay, just take your time which was great.

Once set up we went down to the pub to pay and had a drink while we were there, the food in the pub is outstanding and very reasonably priced but it's wise to book as it does get very busy. The site itself is great quite level and not far from the pub, the toilet shower block is very modern and spotless (entry by key card)

Really worth visiting the Ancient Briton as it's close o the Brecon Beacons and the Coast!

Having spent the week-end at The Ancient Britain the first thing you notice is the easy access, which is immediately off the main road, with no side lanes to negotiate. The camp site is well suited for people that would want to visit Swansea and Gower or Brecon in the opposite direction.

Everything is new as far as toilets/showers etc and were excellent. The pub has a lovey beer garden, however the main road is quite near so caution with small children. Although the road is reasonably busy in day time there is no traffic noise at night.

You will find a convenient Spar shop approx 500 yards from the pub, where you will also find bus stops to either Swansea or Brecon, and has a good service. Also 10 Minutes in the Swansea direction there is Asdas Supermarket and filling station.

The pub itself has a warm atmosphere with an abundance of mixed people I. E farmers, walkers etc. With astonishingly 11 real ales and as a Camra member this was paradise. We did not eat at the pub but we were told by other guests that the food was excellent with plenty of choice.

We will definitely be returning, the only down side is the camp site is not open all year round.

The second visit for us as we stayed last year when they were in the process of upgrading the grass field into hardstandings with access road. The wildlife and bird life is fabulous here and the local walks are stunning especially the one leading to the falls.

The pub is friendly and the food good although it is wise to book to ensure you get a table. Toilet block is new but doesn't have a mop so unless you are first in the floor is messy. My shower was hot but my husband's wasn't a bit later on.

A short walk away to the left as you leave the site is the Pen-Y-Cae inn - bit of a gastro place - not my scene but they have a sort of zoo in the garden with meercats and wallabies and others. Well worth a visit.
