Just bought ourselves a used motorhome so just one night here to try it out.
The owner was very helpful and explained where everything was and then left us to it.
It was explained to us before arriving that due to the grass field being a little waterlogged that we would have to use a hard standing next to the loos which we respected and accepted.
The facilities were all clean and the grass area looked very well kept.
All in all a very pleasant first experience for us, and we may well return in the summer to hopefully enjoy staying in the main field.

OK, but not the wonder I would have thought from previous reviews, but I suppose it's better in the summer. Easy enough o find following the website directions.
I asked for a hardstanding and we were put firstly outside the loos and showers, sandwiched between them and another building. No good, we couldn't get Sky tv so eventually were able to move to an area of concrete nearer the field, which was ok but not ideal. No way we were allowed on the grass, even though it looked fine and there were a couple of long term caravans on it, used by workers at the airport.
It's easy to get about, try Hatfield Forest, and there are loads of footpaths. Thaxted has a decent shop at the garage.
The worst things were a snoopy jobsworth character living in one of the long term caravans who made it his business to moan at us for turning the car around on the grass, and checked what we had put in the bins (good recycling) plus the noise from the planes was unbearable at times.
Charged £16 per night which was ok.
Would not go again.

A lovely little site. The toilets and shower block were clean and modern. Mainly all
Grass pitches with the site surrounded by hedges and tress that back on to farm land. No road noise but you do get to see plenty of planes landing at stansted. The site is very reasonably priced and The owner is very helpful.
I am going back again this year as it is one of the nicest sites to visit for a quiet break.

A lovely little site with beautiful views. Clean toilets and shower.
Really quiet and peaceful, best stock up on food etc as we couldn't find anywhere close-by. Not a problem if you have another vehicle to go out in but we were staying only one night in a motorhome.
The lady who runs it is very friendly and helpful.
Definitely worth a visit and makes an ideal stopover en route.
Will certainly stay again.

The site is easy to get to, being about 8 miles from the M11. Small site with basic facilities - warm welcome from the owner and talked through all the details of the site.
Got to choose wherever we wanted to go, all locations were nice with just enough shelter.
You need to pay cash here but that was not a problem as we were told on the phone when booking. We changed our booking by email after our initial booking and that was no problem. Took the dog - there were a few more here, all well behaved.
Everyone was nice on the site - also a few friendly regulars.
We intend staying here again - great value for a nice basic site - highly recommended!

Greeted at the house door by very pleasant friendly owner, who directed us to our pitch which was beautifully maintained. She explained where everything was, and then left us to enjoy the site.
Toilets and shower spotlessly clean (two ladies and two mens toilets each with one shower). Lovely peaceful site, just what we needed.
Visited garden fair at Henham, Thaxted and Saffron Walden. Will certainly be using again.

We stayed here for a quick one-nighter midweek and upn arrival we found the parking up area and walked to the house to check in and we were greeted by the very friendly owner and her son showed us to the site and the facilities and explained where the footpath for walks was.
The site is flat and surrounded by hedges making it very sheltered, but not too high as to stop the sun getting through. Each pitch has an electric box by it if you want electric, I did not check the power of the boxes, but we plugged in and charged the batteries, we did not run any other equipment.
There were a couple of semi- permanent caravans sited here, and they were at the top end of the site nearer the entrance and we did not hear anything from them and they were clean and tidy and well looked after.
The toilet /shower block consisted, in the mens, of one urinal, one toilet, one sink and a shower. The shower was 50p for approx. 15 minutes and is a power shower and was very hot, with directional head and a decent curtain ensuring your clothes and towels didn't get wet. They provide a mop for a clean up afterwards. The ladies was the same, but with two toilets and no urinal. Both mens and ladies were very clean and well maintained.
They sell gas here so if you run short you will be fine.
We decided to follow their instructions to the footpath for a walk through the country, however as it had just absolutely chucked it down the grass was quite long and very wet, so after a few minutes we turned around and decided to walk along the road to the small, beautiful village of Henhan.
It was about 2. 5 miles to the village and the road was pretty quiet and safe to walk along. The village was so lovely with a nice looking pub, however as we got there mid afternoon the pub was shut, however they sell a good range of beers and a decent menu was being offered. We will try and get in there during opening hours next time! There is also a nice church in the village to wander around.
Locally, although we did not visit any of the areas, are the lovely towns and villages and sites of : Saffron Walden, Bishops Stortford, Thaxted, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and Audley End House.
Stansted Airport is nearby and whilst you can see the planes as they land and you can hear a slight rumble, it really is not intrusive and did not affect us at all. In fact in made for good fun checking out all the different types of planes.
Overall a lovely, very quiet and well run site at £10 without EHU and £13 with and one we would use again if in the area.

Just spent four nights on this delightful little site. Beautifully kept field for extremely generous pitches in this pretty part of north Essex. Quiet and restful, with a lovely friendly owner.
Very clean toilet and shower block - nothing fancy but spotless and functional. Very reasonable rates. We will be back.
Thank you Marion

I stayed here with my two children at the Whitsun half term. The owners were lovely and made us welcome. The showers and toilets were lovely and clean.
We live very close by but my children just wanted to go camping so we stayed here but if you come to the area it's very close by to some lovely places such as Hatfield forest, Audrey end, saffron walden and Cambridge.
