Just had 5 days camping at this site. The people who run it were lovely and very approachable if you had any queries - we ran out of gas the day before we left and they were very helpful.
The camping field is mostly flat, certainly no steep slopes. Showers, toilets, waste disposal and rubbish disposal were fine - the shower was nice & hot!
There`s only one shower each for men and women although that wasn`t a problem when we were there as the site wasn`t busy.
There are two pubs within a 5/10 min walk (they both do food & real ale) but there isn`t very much else in the village.
The site is quiet & secure and we would have no hesitation in going back there sometime.
Another great stay at this friendly site. The new washing-up sink outside is an improvement, as is the lowered and extra mirror in the ladies. Also the promise of a shelf in the ladies soon! The showers were playing up while we were there but sorted out without hesitation.
Fishing was good catching over 20 fish a day, largest being 7 1/2lb. Loads of space for 10 man tent, with hook up(We are a family of 8. )Lady owner is very helpful and welcoming as is the resident handy man!
Five min drive to Uckfield Tesco and town. Easy 20 min drive to eastbourne seafront.
Ten min walk to small garden centre (sells gas, eggs etc)Although the walk is partly on grass verge.
The road wasn't a problem for us as we live near main road anyway.
There are a few child friendly resident caravan campers.
Only one shower in each men/ladies but didn't queue till after 9. 00pm in mens.
In all a very relaxing get-away-from-it-all site.
Well worth a visit if kids loves fishing and parents want peace and quiet.
We have just got back from Honeys Green Farm caravan Park and had a very lovely time.
On arrival we were welcomed by a lovely lady, who ensured we had our bearings and gave us the codes for the gates and toilets.
We were in a very large group of around 12 tents, mainly with young family's, and we pretty much had the field to our selves.
The toilet block was always clean (although some times lacking in hot water, and even though there was just 1 shower I never had to wait.
The 2 pubs up the road are easily walked to and both seemed to serve nice looking food (we did not eat).
The site has a lovely lake which is ment for fishing but was a nice little walk, and is very pretty, with water lillys and iris's.
The only negatives were we would have liked for there to have been a couple of electric hook up points in the main camping field.
Also the field has a lot of thistle growing in the grass so when erecting the tent or walking round barefoot it was quite painful. It would also be nice if there was a children's play area.
The site is ideally located to visit all over Sussex and kent, and there are a lot of attractions near by ideally suited for little people.
Nice friendly welcome, given choice of where we wanted to park, nice, green place to stay.
Toilets not too bad, could be cleaner.
We wanted to stroll to the pub for an evening drink, but the road is very busy and dark, and we all felt a little nervous to say the least as it's a fairly long walk, I was concerned for my kids safety, so we didn't attempt it again.
The thing that I was pleased about is the fact that this site is central to all the places we came to visit, so we happily managed Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes, and Pevensey.
There is a pleasant walk around the lake at the site but I feel a few more benches, picnic areas wouldn't go amiss, there's enough room for them.
We were fortunate to have beautifully hot weather when we stayed here and I found my stay pleasant and peaceful, the kids got a little bored but we went out early every day so it wasn't a real issue.
We visited this site again this month and found many changes had been made. It felt as if it was under new management. There is a new field which has been 'improved' for camping, with many hard-standing pitches, but they are very close together, giving a very cramped impression.
There seems to be a greater emphasis on the fishing side of the site, and there is now a notice saying dogs must be on leads when walking. Nothing will ever change the fact that this site is beside a very noisy fast stretch of road, which is famous as a 'race track' with local bikers and boy-racers, as well as carrying a lot of trucks and farm machinery.
The Halland Forge hotel/pub/restaurant is a (dangerous) half mile walk away, and has good value carvery meals. There are many good country walks in the area too.
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here
We visited this site in mid September so was quite quiet.
There are no shopping facilities on site but it is not far from Uckfield and there is pub a short distance away and walkable.
The toilet block was clean but required a code to open the door. There is only one shower per sex and no lock on the door, but it is very spacious with plenty of space to keep your clothes dry.
The toilet block lighting is on a sensor which badly need adjusting as the lights will go out when you sit on the toilet so much hand waving to restore lights!
The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The only downside was the traffic noise at night but the road is not that busy and you only really notice it when a loud motorbike goes past.
All in all I would recommend this site and is a good base for venturing out to places like Brighton and Eastbourne.
A very pleasant friendly owner made us immediately welcome. The site is fully equipped with hookups and a well-designed toilet block. We had a very pleasant and peaceful stay and will return to this site again.
There is a small number of static caravans but the traffic in the site was minimal. The nearby B-road is fairly busy during the day but was quiet at night. There is a large connected field for dogs to be exercised, children to play etc.
Fishing in a nearby lake is also available. Entrance through motorised gates is good.
Just had a week in a static on this site. Sue the warden was very nice and couldn't be more friendly.
However, the static van was old, dilapidated, dirty and smelly. We had to clean the van from top to bottom which included removing the ants nest from behind the fridge. We assumed it was just us being picky but after speaking to occupiers of other statics it seems that they are all in this state when taken over.
On Thursday night the electric went out for the whole site and was not restored until the next day (main box tripped out). The lady next to us (who lives in the van all summer) says this happens twice a week. Only happened the once while we were there.
Its a shame as the warden is lovely (which made it a bit awkward to complain) and the site is in a lovely location. Halland Forge hotel did a fantastic carvery at a very good price and less than 5 minutes walk away. The lake on site was very picturesque and we could see some large fish rolling on the top.
All in all a lovely place but I wouldn't return to a static van because of their poor state.
I have just visited the site for a second time and there has been a lot of work and improvements made. In the Badgers Patch field all the pitches are now hardstanding with a grass verge for awnings.
Therefore motorhomes can now go in this field and not near to the shower block as mentioned by one review. They have a new disposal area with a covered area for washing up so you do not have to use the sinks in the shower blocks any more. The showers now have doors fitted to them and both the male and female toilets have been refurbished and tiled.
I was told by the owner that they used to get some flooding in the lower field but that has now been rectified with a large soakaway being installed which has now been covered over with topsoil and new grass is growing.
The site looks very pretty and I know that they have improved the car park and pathways and the owner has a new log cabin as her permanent home which looks really nice and fits in well with this pretty wooded site.
The lake is stunning and even if you don't fish you can go there and sit on a bench and enjoy the scenery. They do say no dogs at the lake but that is really to prevent other fishermen being disturbed, I know that they let me take my dog up there as we were the only ones fishing that day so it was OK.
There are lots of lovely villages around, plenty of places to visit and not very far from Ashdown Forest or the sea (about 15 mins away by car). The best of both worlds really.
The site is very flexible with arrival and departure times, very friendly and helpful and the rates are some of the lowest we have found so all in all worth a visit and a bargain as well.
Have just come back from a last minute weekend break here. We needed a campsite in this area to attend an event and as such, I can't comment further on the local attractions etc, as we didn't use them.
The campsite is undergoing a bit of a make-over by the look of things. Some very nice brick walls going up to make a smart entrance, and another small wooden framed building (not sure what it will be for though).Anyway.
The campsite is divided into three sections :-
The main area with about 7 statics (and reception, first on the right),some hardstanding and about 3 hook-ups. Entrance is via coded electric gates. This had some large flooded areas and was closest to the road, so wouldn't be my first choice. The road is screened by a high bank and mature trees, but was still quite noisy. The long straight for bikes / lorries doesn't help.
The second area accessed from the first, is a large field for tents. It's pretty, but on the side of a hill with limited flat areas, especially for large tents. There are a couple of static round picnic benches and two rotary driers for campers use.Road noise still evident.
The 3rd area is Badgers copse.Where we stayed. This is accessed by it's own electric gate, directly from the main carpark. It's an enclosed area with about 12 hardstandings of good size, with hook-ups. There is a separate undercover washing up area, and covered CPD. Most of this area is open allowing a good degree of sunshine (weather permitting)surrounded by matures trees, hedges and a small stream.Road noise could still be a problem if you are a light sleeper, but less so here.
The main toilet block was clean and well stocked. Can't comment on the gents, but the ladies had 3 toilets & hand basins, one large sink, and a washing machine for campers use. There was also a very large shower room, almost like a wet room, which looked great, but I didn't use it.There was also various leaflets about local attractions. Wasn't a hope of me using the mirror though, as it was way to high up the wall for those under 5'6' & kids.
The toilet blocks are again, entered using a key code.
There's a short picturesque walk round the edge of a field to the fishing lake, which is very pretty. Fishing not my thing, but sitting on one of the benches with a good book would have been. Very peaceful place to spend a day.
Amazed that there was still quite a few spaces, but I guess families might like less basic sites. Good value for money in high season.
