Our first family camping trip in a rented 1960's VW campervan with our 4 and 2 year old boys and a 7 month bump.
We only spent one night at this site but were very impressed. The owners were particularly helpful in showing us where to set up and lending us a longer electric hook up lead as ours was too short.
The site is very neat with an upper and lower field. We didn't use the camp shop but did enjoy a fish and chip supper from the local chip shop which we would recommend.
Lovely walk around the campsite, through the wood and over the stream which the children enjoyed wading through. A separate dog field so that dogs can be exercised off lead is a bonus (although we didn't have our dog with us).
Facilities were immaculate and closed for cleaning daily. Underfloor heating was very welcome after several night time trips to the loo due to a baby bouncing on my bladder! Very rarely saw anyone else using the toilet/shower block as a lot of caravans on site.
Lots of friendly children for our boys to play with and a nice big central green. We could therefore sit and enjoy a cup of tea and watch the children play.
A very relaxing break that we would recommend. Only rated child friendliness as a 9 as no park.
Lovely clean site, and very friendly and helpful staff, gave us rubber matting to prevent grass in the tent, and to preserve the grass they have.
Central for Swansea and the Gower, loved Pembrey national park. Also able to book a pitch last minute, with electric, and were allowed to put our two small tents, onto one pitch, which most sites wont allow nowadays, even though both tents together are the size of one family tent.
Do get some road noise, but not unbearable, I am really fussy with regards to facilities, and these were really clean, with the exception of the shower heads, - for some reason these were mouldy, a bit of a let down as everything else was spotless, although only two showers in both mens/ladies, never had to wait at all also a family room and a disabled room.
Only other downside was the smell of sewerage each evening, not sure why always got a whiff around 6. 30pm-6. 45pm, - not sure if smelt from whole site but we were on Gorse Meadow directly up and behind the Amenities block.
Would we go back? yes definitely if we decide to camp again.
We have returned from a lovely weekend at River View park. We stayed in our camper, on the family section, it is a lovely park, very clean and tidy, well spread out. Toilet and facilities extremely clean.
On arrival the staff were very helpful, lending us stronger tent pegs and hammer as ours were rubbish, I later found out they did sell them so we were very impressed that they lent them to us and not try and get us to buy some. They were very friendly and helpful with very good suggestions of places to eat nearby, which we had a fab pub meal at reasonable cost.
It is in a lovely spot, not far from gower, Swansea, we went to a lovely country park margam park which only charged £4. 50 to park camper, entry was free, lovey place to go with children.
Would recommend this park. 10 out of 10
It was a lovely quite park wish is what we wanted.
What a gem of a site. The access is very easy from the road although a little steep & narrow but caused us no problem. We were welcomed and offered help with filling the water tank and explained where we could find other facilities. Everything was very well organised. The pitches are very generous with hook ups with water nearby. The toilets were spotless with plenty room and the shop well supplied. Nothing was too much trouble. The dog field was our dogs dream, a wide open space to just run. The site was in three sections. One by the river where we were which seemed to be adults only and 2 other fields up some steps. Hook ups & water etc was available in all areas and lots of space for play. I enjoyed watching the birds, woodpeckers and the dipper on the river and much more. A very peaceful place to chill but you do get some road noise but not to an annoying level. We usually leave the motorhome on site and walk or catch a bus but this was quite difficult from here since it meant crossing very busy roads to either the bus or the pub.
We found this site after being let down by another site and had to look for somewhere in a hurry. Very easy to get to, just off M4 junction 49. The approach is a little narrow and steep but caused us no problem.
We were met at the entrance by the owner, a charming gentleman, and quickly and efficiently booked in and shown where everything was before being directed to our pitch in a beautiful location alongside the river Gwili.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the amenities and site in general also the peace and tranquility.
This is a really lovely site and ideal for visiting the Gower.
The road down off the A483 is quite narrow though, so just hope that you don't meet anything coming the other way as there is nowhere to cross with a caravan.
There can be a bit of traffic noise from the A48/A483 if the wind is in the right direction.
Otherwise a very peaceful site next to a delightful river.
You do have to drive everywhere though as there are no real walks close by.
Showers are nice and hot in a lovely clean block, but the shower pressure isn't great. You can however turn the shower on and off and take the handset down, which is a great bonus.
Lighting around the camp itself is patchy, so take a torch.
Roads around the site are a bit dusty and could probably do with a new layer of gravel.
Returned here after many years, very impressed then and even more so now. Greeted by friendly warden who helped to pitch levelling blocks provided. Had spacious pitch on the edge of the river didn't see a lot of the occupants of the other vans mostly weekenders very quiet site didn't notice the road noise only a few sirens in the distance. Great walks for dogs toilet block spotless only one draw back had to use car everywhere to far to walk to pub or shop but with so many places within few miles didn't matter.
If you have been to a lot of campsites then you will know that one of the worst things in the showers is that you have to keep pressing the button to get the water, but with Riverview you wont have this because there are taps with temperature control! Its quite a small and quiet site so its great for everyone. But if you are on the top pitch the WI-FI is a bit temperamental. There is a small shop on site with loads of leaflets. Around site there is just SO much to do.
Overall me and my whole family really enjoyed this holiday.
Very clean, well-maintained & peaceful, despite distant drone of traffic from the nearby A roads & M4. There is barrier entry (locked at 10pm) with a swipe card- the £5 deposit is refunded on departure. There is a solar-heated toilet & shower block, with 4 toilets & 2 showers in ladies’. It didn't seem that many for the size of the site, but I only ever had to queue for a shower twice; most times, there was nobody else in there.
There are two additional rooms with toilet, shower, sink & either baby changing unit or disabled toilet. The site now has a laundry (in the 'old' toilet block!) –the key is available from reception - with a domestic washing machine & dryer, iron & ironing board, but the washing machine was out of order during our first week. The owners/managers were very friendly & lent us a longer hook up cable when our own was not long enough to reach the hook up points.
I can heartily recommend this site, though it has expanded since our last visit in 2005 when we had a tent. It's more geared up for caravans now, it seems. There is no children's playground, but a large grassed area in the Oaklands where children could play. The tents were pitched around the edge.
This site is a real gem; having spoken to some of the locals in Pontarddulais, they were unaware that the site even existed! It's tucked away behind the woodlands, down a country lane, but we had no problem getting the caravan down it.
