We have just returned from this absolute gem of a site.
Firstly, I have to mention the lovely warm welcome we received, after a 7 hour drive it was lovely to be greeted like friends. The family are amazingly hard working and do everything they can to make your visit the best it can be.
Although the site isn't completely finished ( they are building a Lakeside cafe and shop) it is peaceful and beautiful and once the planting is established it will be stunning.
Each pitch is spacious and has a fence and Laurels planted at the boundary, which is lovely as it feels like you've almost got your own lawned garden area. Tents and caravans are pitched on the hard standing and every pitch is fully serviced with its own water and waste water drain, this was such a treat! No constant emptying and re-filling water containers!
Now for the main attraction- our own, private hot tub on our pitch . This was blissful, the views from ours were great, and even more so because we didn't have anyone on the pitch next to us.
Nearby are several beautiful beaches and pretty towns.
We didn't eat out at all though as we were just too content in our hot tub every evening, looking at the view.
Overall, a fantastic site that can only get even better.
We have just spent a few days with friends at this newly opened site, which has been opened recently. It is a work in progress, and we had a friendly welcome, from a family who clearly have not let set backs dampen their desire to set up a camp site with a difference. We stayed in one of the two 'hot tub' pitches that overlooks the lake, superb and sensibly priced. We plan to travel back again later in the year to see the progress. Some of the site is obviously in development, but the (temporary) toilet blocks were superb. EHU and water and grey waste on every pitch. The wildlife visiting the lake was superb. They have plans to extend the lake and create a farm shop and bistro. There is work in progress, but not too noisy, and it will eventually be a gem. I believe the owners have plans to increase the number of pitches with hot tubs in the future. The area is surrounded by farm land and was peaceful, but we were there 'off peak'. There are plans to get a bus stop set up outside the main entrance which is on the main road between Aberystwyth and Cardigan. We got a taxi (Pete's) who took us to New Quay and back at a cost of £6 for an adult. Door to door stuff again good value for money. My wife has been following the family and their journey on Facebook. They have some guts, and continue to fight against bureaucrats. When mature this will, I am sure, be a delightful spot, with a difference.
