 Wonderful campsite. Area is very pretty and there are lovely walks in either direction. Its family run and the owners are very involved - providing hikes, canoeing, etc. Really nice atmosphere for children, feels very safe and staff very attentive. Shop, bar, take away all very clean and well stocked - bit pricey but only the same as other sites. Bakery on site each morning for pastries - lovely! All facilities are open long hours at peak time. Library for books to borrow. Internet and washing facilities available. Go carts and bikes for kids available. Plenty of free low key kids 'animations' run by family members - they provide hats and drinks and they seem to really enjoy being with the children. Kids all seem to like the staff too. Pitch size excellent and they all have some shade. Really plentiful and clean sanitary facilities.
This is a very special place, with pretty planting and a great family run atmosphere - we will be going back for longer. We met lots of people who keep going back and the staff seem to be family members or ones that have been there a long time. They are keen to help and chat and take a real pride in the campsite.

We stayed in this site whilst touring France. It was so good we stayed a couple of extra nights. We found the staff very friendly and professional. The pitches are smaller that some campsites, but toilet block very modern and clean, like the rest of the site. Owners seem very keen on gardening, so if you were lots to discuss about herbs grown on site. Very nice swimming pool, bar and restaurant. English spoken. We also booked a canoe from reception, a chap came in a van the next morning pick us two up only and drove up river. We then paddled down about 4 hrs ( 14km). That was really nice. If you have young children there is a river at the back of camp where canoes are, so you would need to keep your eyes on them. There is a playground on site where we saw kids playing.

To find site:- Leave A20 at junction 51 and follow signs to Perigueux. Alternatively leave A20 at junction with A89, also in the direction of Perigueux, and drop down to D 6089 to Le Lardin. At Le Lardin-St-Lazare take D704 in the direction of Sarlat. At Montignac take D706 signed for Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. Continue along D706 and about 2 miles past St Leon sur Vezere (stay on D706 and don't go into village) watch out for campsite signs and Le Paradis is a left turn off the D706.
Camping Le Paradis is a popular high quality campsite in the heart of the Dordogne on the banks of the River Vezere. The Dutch owners have put a great deal of effort into creating a garden like atmosphere with attractive planning all around the site. There are about 150 touring pitches which vary in size but most are quite generous however access to the pitching areas from the main site road can be quite tight in places because vegetation growth. The pitches are set out in groups of about 8 or 9 and are well shaded by mature trees. Many of the pitches have access to individual water points and drainage. Electric points are rated at 10 amps via CEE17 connectors although it is wise to check for reverse polarity. There are two really excellent toilet blocks which have seated toilets with paper provided. At the entrance there is a courtyard with a comprehensive shop on one side and a bar/restaurant on the other. The food in the restaurant is very good but not inexpensive. The site has a whole range of sporting activities available for children of all ages including a superb swimming pool complex. Bikes and canoes can be hired. There is site wide WiFi operated via the Passman system. The site also has a number of mobile homes for hire, either direct or via Eurocamp. These are situated separately from the touring pitches. Camping Cheques are accepted in the low season. Date of visit, end of September 2009.
Extra Information:-The campsite host a cycling event on the first Sunday of October with up to 1000 participants. Clearly this has an impact on access to the campsite so anyone thinking of arriving/departing on that day should expect some disruption.
This campsite is ideally situated to visit many of the popular Dordogne tourist attractions, many within a short distance. Sarlat is within relatively easy travelling. There is a supermarket at Montignac, about 8 miles away.

We have been visiting Camping Le Paradis for over 20 years and it is just like the website suggests home from home. The grounds and gardens are just magnificent. The facilities are excellent as are the ultra clean shower/wc areas. They have a well stocked shop, bar and courtyard area. Unfortunately the spirit that prevailed in Le Paradis was not there this year.The staff in the bar were unfriendly and the normally excellent social calendar was very poor. We still feel that despite this if you choose to go you will have an excellent holiday, but for long term stayers of which there are very many,we felt that the spirit of camping le paradis is not as it was in previous years.
The swimming pool area needs some attention and in need of some TLC eg loose tiles etc
Otherwise, this is a superb site to visit for your holidays, you will want to go back that's a promise !

September 08 was our last visit but we have been to Le paradis many times over the past few years. The owners Ge and Ellen Kusters are very friendly and helpful as are the staff, many of whom have been there for years (which says a lot).
The site is beautifully laid out with a lot of work done on the gardening side (they have 2 full time gardeners).
The shower blocks are excellent with a heated shower and toilet area in each block. (There is also a bath available and a family shower room)
The pool complex is very good as is the play area for children. Although we are just 2 adults we have had family and grandchildren stay in either Eurocamp tents or the sites owm mobile homes (which are excellent). The children love the site.
The restaurant and takeaway are good although the restaurant is a bit expensive (courtesy of the Euro mostly).
They do not accept Campingcheques any more in June but they do a 3 nights for 2 rate which is a little dearer than Campingcheque.
We had a problem with our car one year and they sorted out with a local garage no problem at all. We also required a doctor one time and again this was quickly sorted for us.
This is our favourite site in France and we will be returning again this year.
