We recently spent three very comfortable nights at this lovely site. Despite the wet weather the grass was kept cut. The shower/lavatory block is immaculate with disabled/family facilities, kitchen with washing machine and washing-up sinks.
There are also a good picnic field, small play area and an excellent dog-walk on-site. Lucy, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful and apologised for the slight slope of the camping field. Coming from the North Pennines it was pancake flat to us. Our dogs were made welcome.
We did find it difficult to find anywhere to eat in the evening but the village shop is open until 7. 30 pm. The site is on the edge of the village so it's only a 5 minute walk down in.
We stayed here to take advantage of the water sports at the nearby Cotswold water park complex which has everything you'll need to do on the water but pre book the more popular ones like water sking, this site is ok but not 10\10 we stayed at the top right corner which is out of the way and quiet there is a bit of road noise but not intrusive the shower block is ok its serviced and ok clean but hardly spotless, I've seen better, no paper towels, soap, cob webs, flies, dirty grout, etc but no smells so ok its a campsite at the end of the day.
Good points fridge freezer, washer but that's a free for all, fire pits free and £5 for logs and a little free kindle but id buy as we did a bag of kindle and lighter fluid and fire lighters which set of the fire pit a treat.
The mens toilets are urinals and separate but showers and toilets are unisex some have a shower, toilet, sink in one cubicle, which is good.
The pitches are good sizes and down one side there is little banks overgrown to encourage nature and separate the pitches.
It was a quarter full and ok but id not like to stay if it was full,
One major negative is if you stay at the top of the site as we did and not knowing to us at the time was there are a few non campers staying in various non standard vans, campers, uv's etc who took advantage of a constant commercial bonfire burning visited by builders and these non camping residence to dump all sorts on it to burn 24\7 and it smelt out our tent this was burning commercial rubbish we could tell by the smell not farm refuse????? the halfway\bottom pitches wouldn't have smelt this.
Nice views, big pitches, ok toilets, quietish site you go judge for yourself but this isn't my 10\10 campsite studfold farm North Yorkshire there's a 10\10
One of the best sites we've been two in several years. All the benefits/comfort of large commercial sites with the common sense, kindness and freedom of smaller indie sites.
Two small fields make an L shape around a spotless shower/kitchen block and play area. There's a gentle slope which isn't noticeable in a large tent. The site is fairly open to elements although one side has you shaped banks of grass built up around 3 feet or so around each pitch.
The shower block has several good sized wet rooms, some just toilets, some with showers, sinks and chairs in. Much better than cubicles. Showers are push button type. First morning at 10am they were very warm and powerful. Second morning around 11. 30am they were bordering on too cold. It was a busy bank holiday and we were some of the last to use it though.
The kitchen had large fridge freezer, sink inside, two sinks outside and washing machine etc. There is a freestanding washing line carousel outside too.
Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly owner Lucy. We'd expressed concerns over strong winds and she took us to a couple of spots and recommended one in particular as being more sheltered.
We discovered a snapped pole and Lucy gave us some gaffa tape and was on hand to help.
Firepits are free of charge and plentiful, bags of logs available to buy. Near the end of our stay Lucy came over with a pad of paper with our bill. She was very generous in reducing our bill from 'two tents' to 'one pitch' as although we had a large family tent (Anteus 600) with front and side awnings as well as a smaller 4 man dome tent for friends, we were on one pitch.
The site is well spaced out. With tents down either side of the field they could have put another couple of rows of tents running down the middle. The fact that it was left open meant plenty of space for kids to run about. This also meant noise was not an issue.
Small playground was great for kids and visible from most pitches. No cars on site apart from loading meant it was safe too.
Local town was very quaint and well worth a potter to some of the cafes.
In short, a small safe site with solid facilities. Very friendly owners who clearly really enjoyed making the guests happy and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we'd definitely return for longer.
We stayed there over the Easter weekend and survived Storm Katie! The site itself was a basic small camping field. It had a nice shower block and good size pitches. There is a slope on the field but this did benefit the draining during the bad weather we experienced. There is a small play area for the kids at the bottom of the site. The site was very safe for kids to run around and they enjoyed being able to feed and stroke the animals. The site is peaceful although noise from the road and local race course can be heard. This wasn't a problem for us but others may find it annoying. Lucy was helpful and always available.
There is no on site shop or clubhouse / bar etc. This was perfect for us and just what we wanted for a peaceful stay but others may prefer more commercial facilities.
Visited as two adults and two children (8 and 5) for our main summer holiday, and we LOVED it.
I'd even go as far as to say this is our new favourite ever campsite, I just wish it was a bit closer to home!
The site is on a gentle slope which we didn't notice in a tent, but I think if you were in a caravan or motorhome you might need ramps.
Facilities were brilliant. Spotlessly clean in a new building, plenty of showers and toilets for the size of the site and a great kitchen area with fridge-freezer, kettle, washing machine. Children's play area was very popular with my kids, but they also loved just running around the field with other children, because as previous reviews have said, there are no cars on site which is brilliant. (I think exceptions can be made for people with mobility problems, so don't let that put you off - it's worth asking if you really need your car right there).
Fire pits were brilliant, and Lucy come round every evening with wood.
A few minutes walk from Minchinhampton with a small mini-mart, chip shop, cafes etc. Lots to do in the local area, but you might not want to leave the site very much!
Overall, a lovely, friendly site, where we could give the children a huge amount of freedom. I think the friendliness is due in no small part to The way Lucy runs the place. Hope to visit again soon.
We have just returned from a 10 night stay at this wonderfully peaceful campsite.
The site is very open with large grass pitches. Some are divided by 'natural' breaks others are open. There are no cars allowed on the site unless loading or unloading which was bliss. The car park is just as you enter the site so no issue walking when you go out. My children have never been allowed so much freedom due to the lack of vehicular traffic.
The facilities are more than suitable for the size of the site and are kept very clean. Only first thing in the morning on a busy bank holiday weekend did I see someone waiting for a shower. The water was never ever cold in the showers. Large fridge freezer and washing machine in the kitchen area.
Small play area which the children seemed to love and play on together. The animals were a bonus for children and adults alike. Firepits which double up as bbqs were very useful and supplied wood was reasonably priced.
The owners were very friendly and extremely knowledgable about the local area. The recommendation for Stroud Farmers market was a great idea and an enjoyable stroll.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and will be looking to stay again in the future.
A nice little site. Owner was friendly, chatty and helpful. Toilets and showers were very clean and close to pitches. A clean kitchen with washing machine and washing line. Small play area for children and lots of animals on farm to see and talk to. Dog walking area was close to pitches and there was a footpath from the site through nearby fields. Our pitch was on a very slight slope but not enough to be a problem. Cars had to be parked in a separate car park when not loading/unloading which worked well. Site was a short walk (5 mins) into the village for shops and pub. Overall a pleasant stay.

The owner very friendly and helpful.
The facilities are very good with underfloor heating in the shower block and with all the usual facilities for washing clothes, washing up etc. There was a children's play area too although that doesn't matter to us at our age!
What impressed me was the ecological ' wild ' areas between the pitches which acted as sight barriers and of course as a haven for wildlife and we spotted a few butterflies during our visit.
It was useful to be able to use the fire pits ( provided ) to cook our steaks and make a fire for the evening and the site has little light pollution so stargazing over a bottle of wine is eminently possible. All in all a good visit and would recommend.
This is one of the best campsites we have stayed at
20 pitches - plenty of space - extremely cleaner well lit toilet/shower rooms, a kitchen area with a fridge/freezer kettle for campers use
A good size car park - which means once you have pitched up, no cars scrambling about making it safer for everyone especially the children. The toilet block and play area is close to all pitches. Our grandchildren aged 9 and 5 soon made friends and enjoyed the freedom and independence Disabled driver vehicles are allowed to be parked next to tents etc
Plenty of exploring to do around the play area. The owners are genuinely kind - nothing was too much trouble for them BBQ and fire baskets can he hired and wood to burn can be purchased.
We spent Thursday - Sunday this time - but will certainly be booking again next year for longer- There were 8 in our party and these comments are are echoed by all.

Great campsite, luckily well drained because it rained a lot. Spotless showers and toilets with no shortage of hot water. The play area is perfect for the size of site, well placed for Cirencester, Stroud etc. Owners were lovely. The children enjoyed seeing the highland bull (harmless) and pig and donkeys. Fire pits available and logs for sale. Ideal!
There is a freezer and free washing machine available for campers use too.
We live about 30 miles away and only just discovered this. The site is on a gentle slope so make sure you bring something to level your rig. Loved the informal layout of the site with the defined little bays adding to privacy.
Facilities where spotless and very well maintained.
Set in some farmland with interesting animals and lovely countryside views. The local public footpath add to the attraction if you like a stroll.
Minchinhampton is a lovely quaint town, shame the local pub was closed, however there is one about 15 minutes walk using footpaths.
One thing, as the grass is highly maintained, remember to park your vehicle off the main site in the adjacent parking field. We had a little misunderstanding as when we arrived were advised it was okay to park beside the caravan by staff as they were quiet, the following day we were told off by the owner for not obeying the rules. Lucy was very apologetic however.
What a fantastic site ! This was our first trip to Tobacconist Farm but I very much hope that it won't be our last.
The site is run by Lucy who is friendly, helpful and just generally fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble ~ during our stay I saw her helping people put tents up, offering advice on things to do and working tirelessly to maintain high standards in the toilets, showers and kitchen block.
The showers were warm, spotlessly clean and the kitchen area provided a fridge freezer, washing machine and kettle (all for use free of charge). There was also a washing line and pegs.
There is a no cars on site policy other than for unloading and loading and this was brilliant. Not only did it make it a safer place for the children to play but also meant that it did not feel like you were camping in a car park.
I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this site to anyone.
Cracking little site, clean, tidy and well maintained. Shower and toilet block is excellent, underfloor heating worked well, and showers always piping hot. Add on kitchen room appeared to have a free washing machine and kettle and a herb garden took the bbq to a new level
Gradual slope and informal pitch layouts mean you can pitch with enough freedom to get a good set up, or have a central point if your camping with friends.
Small children's pay area kept the kids happy for the weekend and a local shop topped up the fridge, pub was a little further afield
I have already emailed Lucy to say thank you for a lovely site, so that in itself is my review of the site !
Directions into the site are really useful to avoid the narrow streets of the village of Minchinhampton. The site is through a lovely little farmyard with chickens and ducks roaming around, donkeys to greet you and a pig that is often snuffling around muttering hello !
Lucy works really hard to make the site as nice as possible and this shows, the shower block has been so well planned when it was built with easy to clean flooring. Its just nice when someone has thought about things. There is a really useful utility room with a free washing machine in.
The dog area is safe and closed in and well equipped not only with a dog bin, but even some dispensable dog bags ! What a brilliant idea, so no excuse for anyone to not clear up after their dog.
The pitches are great with large banks dividing each pitch. Each pitch is a really generous size and allows great views over the rolling countryside. There is a new housing estate within sight but you don't have to look at that bit ! The farm animals and the countryside are plenty pretty enough.
Lucy was so helpful in suggesting things for us to do, including a modern art exhibition in Gloucester Cathedral, it made a great day out with lunch on the docks afterwards. There were also Horse Trials being held in very nearby Gatcombe Park which was literally half a mile away.
Even without these things going on, there is still plenty to do. The village itself is just lovely, full of friendly helpful people and a particularly lovely cafe called Shorthorns. The village has so much charm with the large Cotswold Stone church and the cattle wandering the streets !
Basically a great spot with a great site from which to enjoy it all, or, just have a glass of wine, watch the donkeys, sheep and cattle and enjoy the scenery !
