My husband and I decided to try this campsite following this websites reviews and also as near to home as been a while since we last camped with the children. Thanks to the typical British weather last year!
We arrived at Cwm lanerch and were very pleasantly surprised. As it was May bank holiday weekend and half term we were expecting to be struggling to pitch but we got a great spot near the Conwy river and by the stream, which we totally agree with previous reviews is the best thing as it kept our children aged 7-12 entertained for hours! They made lots of friends and made dens in the fir trees and were within eye shot. But do take lots of changes of clothes as they got a bit wet. But had a whale of a time! We had a large tent and also a kitchen tent and were only charged per person which was brilliant. We didn't need the portaloo ( which my husband was so happy about!) as the facilities were fantastic and immaculate and based in the caravan bit next to the camp field. Plenty of loos and showers available which were free and electric sockets for hairdryers and vitally straighteners! Mind you, camping's an excuse to get back to basics! The place also provided hot water in the washing up area / washing machine and tumble dryer for reasonable charge / freezer and payphone. The park was good fun. Basic but more than the children have had at other campsites we have visited. That was if you could drag them out of the stream! The farmer came round the next day and was very chatty and genuine. The whole family enjoyed the weekend and we will definitely be back and recommending to our friends and family.
We visted the site for three nights in a tent while travelling from Ireland. Nice clean site, with two areas, one with tents and the other with some statics and some caravans and tents. Good imaginative playground for kids and the little stream running through the site. There is a lovely river walk adjacent to the site, which is well fenced off from the site.
Washrooms are clean and well provisioned with good laundry facilities.
The area is, of course magnificent. Would especially recommend the bakery in the SPAR and the Chinese restaurant.
We were there during a major thunderstorm, and the owners were very helpful.
We recently returned from a weekend stay at this site and loved it. The owner is very friendly and happy to help. The toilet block is very clean and well kept. There are only 6 Touring pitches, so book early. The site is perfect for children, ours absolutely loved it and had plenty of freedom to enjoy themselves and they were very safe. There is a small stream in the camping area for children to play in.
I noticed somebody else had mentioned the butchers in their review, and I must add it is brilliant, the burgers, sausage and homemade stir fry are amazing.
Great site. Easy to find and roads to it not too narrow. Lovely location, facilities clean and adequate. Basically a nice site for families. Very quiet when we went. We stopped at the butchers in Trefrew which isn't far, the best sausages, bugers and chops i've had in a while. Its worth a drive up from Trefrew to the lakes at the top of the mountain. Fab weekend
A great quiet site with the essentials! Plenty of fresh air and space for the children to run around. Toilet and shower block basic and clean-what more can we ask for! Normally when I go away with my 3 children I spend lots of time on day trips etc but on this site they never wanted to leave as they were too busy playing in the small stream- not a dangerous stream just a large trickle through the site that makes this campsite a firm favourite of ours as the children are amused for hours! With the exception of bank holiday weekends this camping field is never over crowded and the families that stay here are always friendly and I have often had help putting up my tent! You don't see a great deal of the owners (once a day or every other day) which is great if you want peace and not to be hounded for payment but may be a problem if you are used to more attention. A fantastic site!
This is the second visit over the Easter period at this site. This year it was busy, but we did pitch quite easily. The site is surrounded by dry stone walls and has a drop dead setting as you can imagine. There is a river running nearby and it is a sheep farm, but this only adds to the charm, with lots of lambs at this time of year.
The facilities are quite basic in some respects, but never the less are more than adequate, clean and well organised with good washing up and chemical disposal areas. The electric showers are free, but hit and miss.hot.cold.warm.freezing!
There is a good play area for bigger kids, but my little uns loves it too with a bit of help.
Betswy is only a quick drive away, and the chippy there must be a gold mine.
Overall, definitely go back again and again, kids love it, very relaxed, pitch and pay later, attitude, big camping area, lovely views, quiet (some idiots occasionally drinking on an empty head), but otherwise excellent.
This is the best campsite we have been to! Booking is not required and the farmer turns up the following day for payment although if you are staying a few days, you can pay before you leave. The facilities are great, clean showers/toilets and lots of them, free freezer, good playground. There is a lovely stream on site which leads to a river. Our children spends ages playing in the stream, it was a real hit. The scenery is stunning and there is heaps to do in the area.
Visited this site with two small children at Easter. The site was excellently positioned with a river on one side, a stream running through and farm buildings and animals in nearby fields. The kids loved paddling and watching wildlife. The site is sheltered and amenities are clean and more than adequate. Owner really laid back, but when a group of loud drunken types turned up they didn't last long! The play area is not within eyeshot and not suitable for under fives. Showers and hot water, freezing blocks are free, toilets and sinks etc clean. There is a washer and drier at reasonable cost. Betswy is a 5 min drive. Overall, great location, clean facilities, no shop, picturesque, will definitely go again.
