Stayed here from 20/10/07 until 27/10/07 and was very impressed by the site. Once through the gate, the general appearance of the site is really nice, with loads of flowerbeds/pots. The bulidings are all painted, and the different facilities are well signed.
The toilets/showers/laundry and dishwashing areas were all very clean and tidy. There is a small playground for under 12s and a games room with a pool table,tv/dvd player, a selection of books, and some toys for the younger children. There are no ball games allowed on site, but just outside the gate you will find a football pitch, an excellent adventure playground, a skatepark, a large grassy area suitable for picnics, tennis courts,a pitch and putt course, and a lovely beach. There is also a cycle path which is completely flat, and goes all the way into Dundee. A 5 minute walk from the site takes you to Monifieth High Street, which has a butcher (excellent), baker, Chip shop (Excellent), Thai / indian / Chinese / Seafood Restaraunts, Pubs, and a Tesco supermarket.
The train station is also just a short walk from the site.
Other reviewers have mentioned the gunfire noises from the nearby rifle ranges, but I did not really notice it.
There is a small Gym / sauna / steam bath onsite which I did not have a look at because I am thin and really fit LOL
The only fault that I could find was, that some of the trees around the touring pitches needed cutting back because the branches protrude onto the pitch and could blow against a caravan and scratch it.
I will definitely be revisiting this site next year.
I visited this site with my two sons on Saturday 18th.
I have to admit I was well pleased with this site. The toilets and shower block are the cleanest that I have came across in a long while, the showers were free and had a lovely hot temperature to match.
The beach looked very welcoming but as it was pouring down with rain we gave it a miss.
The main street is only a 5 min walk from site and there you have Tesco's a couple of newsagents and a PO. Also you will come across a chinese takeaway (highly recommended) and a kebab / indian takeaway.
I visited the Crown bar in the main street and we were made very welcome by the locals.
My only gripe (very small) is that there are no signs to tell you where the caravan site is, I drove past a couple of mile and had to phone the owners. Please put a sign up in the main street or you may well miss out on custom.
Apart from that I will return to Riverview in the future.
Stayed here for one night and will be returning again next week. The touring pitches are made up of hard gravel standing and each well spaced pitch is divided by hedging for that added bit of privacy. Electric hook up points provided.
There is a large modern well kept toilet block consisting of 4 or 5 toilets&showers. The room was always nice and warm and well kept. Has a 20p hairdryer for use. Paper towels and toilet rolls were regularly replenished.
There is a small leisure suite consising of mini gym, sauna and steam room which has 2 steam cubicles for use. This package costs £5 each for 90 minutes and is solely for your use during that pre booked time.
Small kiddies play area on site with some tables and chairs beside it. There is a much larger adventure playground just outside the entrance to caravan park
Saw sign for Laundry and Veg preparing though never looked in on it.
There is a gate from the caravan park leading down to a sandy beach which can be reached in around 2 minutes.
A few minutes walk away will take you to some local shops including Tesco's, Farmfoods, Fish and chip shop, Chinese Take Away, Newsagent's, Bakery and also Ladbrokes for those that like a flutter.
Commercial vehicles are not allowed to be parked on the park except for loading and unloading and must be kept in the car park which is located just outside park gate .
As previously written on the reviews there is a nearby Barry Buddon training camp and you can hear the shooting noises at a distance from morning till night . Although this can become irritating after a while, and also frighten dogs it will not deter me from returning to the otherwise peaceful site. Turning up your tv if you have one helps eliminate noise.
We have just returned from a weekend stay at the site and the site itself is lovely, very peaceful, helpful staff (nice welcome when we arrived), spacious pitches, mostly separated by a hedge for added privacy, great facilities.
The only down side to this site is the fact that it is just along from an Army camp, which has a shooting range and became quite tiresome after a wee while listening to firing.
The beach to the left of the gate is beautiful and we would have loved to have walked our dog all the way along, but because the range was active, we were stopped from doing so.
Great site! right on beach, excellent toilet and shower facilities, play area and gym/sauna suite! Tescos, chippy, indian take away two minutes walk and just on the doorstep one of the best kids play parks i've seen. staff very helpful, a small site minutes from Dundee and Carnoustie (for the golfers!) We had a great stay.
We were here for the Airshow at RAF Leuchars and have to admit that it is possibly the best site that we have visited for a long time. The site is immaculate the grass kept well cut the toilets are warm and very well decorated there is a mini gym, sauna, and steam bath on site which can be hired for a very reasonable rate. The views that are available should you be lucky enough to get sighted next to the beach are stunning. Definately one for several visits on next years holidays.
Stayed 3 nights. The facilities at this site are very good. Toilets and showers are 1st class the best ive seen.a park and playroom onsite for kids, but a fantastic public park between it and Tayview site. Shops 2 minute walk away Tesco, farmfoods a couple pubs, indian, chinese, kebab takeaway and a great chipshop all in walking distance. A great place to stay for touring the area will be back again for sure.
June 2005 A well maintained site only a few mins walk from shops. Toilets are 1st class, well maintained and spotless. a good size gym for the keep fit fanatics. A no-nonsense site, staff patrol at regular intervals. Could use more pitches for tents and a bit overpriced on the fees.
