 After reading the reviews we were hoping this could become a regular weekend site for us. After being told to pitch anywhere on the phone we did so only to be told to move the caravan. I thought the rows of caravans over to one side could only be in storage, but no that was where we were to pitch the caravan. If you were to put your awning up you would be nearly touching the caravan next door. These caravans are obviously rented out and some had water butts so full of algae they can't have been used for some time.
The pub was nice, although we didn't get the warm welcome stated in the reviews. The food was ok at best. Very bland and I had to return my Jam Roly Poly as it had been microwaved so much it was rock hard in the centre.
The toilets were ok but the door keep being left unlocked for anyone to use and the shower was not very clean. No balls games allowed on site which with children is no good. Nice walk though a small wood was the highlight of the site.

We have just spent a lovely couple of days at this site and cannot sing its praises enough. The Landlord, Dave was what made the stay for us so pleasant, he was warm and welcoming, explaining what was what.
The site is small but perfectly formed and has a portacabin-style toilets (2 sinks, 2 cubicles and 2 urinals)and next to that is the shower, which does the job! They are cleaned with pride by Shirl, every morning and even by late evening, they are still fine, as the people who stay there are considerate to others.
On arrival we were asked whether we would be wishing to dine at the pub or eating out and explained that there was no food on the Sunday evening, just the Sunday lunch, which unfortunately for us, we missed as were were out and about, but definitely intend to come back and stay again, taking in the Quiz Night on a Thursday with a bit of luck, to stretch the old brain cells !
On entering the pub on the Saturday evening, we were immediately welcomed by name, by Dave and asked what we were drinking and that, I think was the only time we had to say what we were drinking, as the staff take the trouble to remember. The atmosphere was warm and pleasant and the locals and the visitors blend in to one another. We got talking to a lovely lady, who was determined not to go to bed a 9pm and went into to pub on her own! Not a problem, Dave was happy to spend the time chatting to her, and then we came in and the evening flew by with happy banter, including Dave, when he had a minute or two to spare and join in the conversation.
For you smokers out there, they have a lovely heated Gazebo, which is in 3 sections, where you can sit in comfort.
For the kids, a lovely, safe play area.
This was mine and the dog's first camping experience, Des is an old Pro! and I could not have wished for a better site and will be a long lasting pleasant memory.

We have just returned from a two night stay. Due to circumstances beyond our control we arrived late in the day and were taken to our pitch. We would have needed a very long extension for the electric so opted to park up by the hook up in the nettles. We were then told that all the keys for the showers were out and were told where the outside loo was.
Although the site was very busy being a bank holiday it was quiet at night and the pub did lovely food at reasonable prices. If we were to stay here again it would not be at a bank holiday. If we could have had a shower it would have been a really good weekend.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights during the Easter holidays with our daughters (8 and 4). The site is 200 metres from Woburn safari park, which was a fabulous day out!
The site is set behind the Rose and Crown pub, and the owners are very friendly. We ate in the pub and found it welcoming, and the food delicious!
Our children really enjoyed this site because although there was no play park, and they were not allowed ball games, they were able to explore and make dens in the adjacent wood.
The toilets and shower are in a prefab unit in the pub car park, for which you pay a £10 deposit to obtain a key. I would have preferred a proper toilet block, but what was there was adequate.
There are quite a few long stay vans on the site, some of which look quite old, but they were mostly empty while we were there. We did not visit the shop next door, but it didn't look to sell much when we looked in the window. This site is good for a stopover, and for visiting Woburn.

Although only down the road from us we find that just a change of scenery is good for the soul. I have to say that this was an absolute gem!
From the moment we arrived Dave & Peggy the landlord & landlady couldn't do enough for us. Dave kindly came out and showed us to the camping field behind the pub and pointed out that they had just had 10 new EHU points fitted so were brand new that very day. He then showed us the facility's - toilets and showers with plenty of hot water. We sorted ourselves out and then went into the pub for a drink. The beer is great and there was a selection of real ales. The staff were also great and we immediately felt at home.
The location is superb for Woburn safari park which is only a few hundred yards down the road. We drove through the estate and saw fallow deer. We also had two woodpeckers outside our van on Saturday morning. The surrounding villages are lovely with some great restaurants if you fancy it.
We had Sunday lunch in the pub which was superb both large enough and very tasty.
We dragged it out as long as we could until it was sadly time to go home.
We would most certainly recommend this for a visit and will most definitely be returning soon ! - Richard & Lucy

This was my first true campsite experience so not much to compare against but thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The campsite itself was small and very pretty, there was a bit of noise from the motorway but it's easily ignored, especially with all the wildlife around. The facilities (eg. Sinks / showers) were adequate - could have been a bit cleaner but I used quite late in the day, so to be expected really. We only stayed for one night so did not see any local attractions, although Woburn is a two minute drive and Silverstone is only a few miles away too. The pub also had a wonderful looking play area that had obviously had a lot of thought put into it.
The main attraction, and reason I would recommend, is the hospitality of landlord. Received a wonderful warm welcome, enjoyed an evening in the pub with the friendly locals and wonderful fresh local produce used for very reasonably priced meal.
Will definitely be visiting again!

We visited the Rose & Crown campsite this summer and are pleased to report that they've got a new shower unit for campers.
The village store next door has a 'cafe-raunt' where you can eat or take-away breakfast if you're not in the mood for cooking your own.
The new Ridgmont bypass has taken a lot of traffic away from the village too so it's even quieter than last time we stayed. Would definitely stay here again.

This was the site we picked for a first time try of our new caravan and wanted somewhere close to home.
The site itself is not very big but quite cosy with nice views of the local woods and is reasonably level.
Even though the site was at the back of a pub car park you would not have noticed as their was no noise.
There were toilets available but you needed to go through the beer garden to get to them but they were clean and well lit.
There is a local shop just along from the pub that caters for your needs and they even do take away breakfasts.
There are some nice walks especially it you have dogs and the scenery is lovely.
Will be returning again with out a doubt.

This was a nice quiet field for camping with picnic tables and a cold water tap. There is a handy little shop next to the pub. The toilet facilities were average cleanliness.
The main disadvantages though were that there were no showers or washing up facilities, making the £9 per night (2 adults) seem a bit expensive.
